  1. Past hour
  2. Oh I'm not sure. As tremendous players as they were, HBA in 5th and Waddle in 4th are definitely up for debate Top 3 surely has to be Beardsley, Gascoigne and Ginola in no particular order.
  3. Vitor Baia ... he's a goalkeeper
  4. We could transfer from Apache2 to a more adaptable host like Ionos. We may have to pay sub fees a month though.
  5. They're doing Newcastle this morning, I'm expecting the standard to be slightly higher. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/newcastle-united
  6. Comparing the BB and the Beatles is like comparing Andrea Bocelli and the sex pistols. 2 completely different music styles. I prefer the BB to the Beatles but that’s just personal taste.
  7. I seem to remember reading that Brian Wilson spent hours listening to Sgt Pepper because it had massively outsold Pet Sounds and he was trying to work out why. If I compare them (and SPLHCB is nowhere near my favourite Beatles album) I like Sgt Pepper a lot more; I like the sort of mixture of psychedelia & old time music hall it has. Pet Sounds figuratively and literally sounds like it comes from a different culture; I think I was an adult when I first listened to it but the Beatles were still fuckin everywhere through my childhood in spite of splitting up around the time I was born... BBs just leave me a bit cold...
  8. Maybe we need to sign Chris Sutton?
  9. Sat here frankly devastated that didn't come from your new boss
  10. remember you're on a newcastle board i don't think anyone here seriously thinks we're winning the league next season, no matter who we sign.
  11. Today
  12. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp85gk40lk7o Nonsense article about the return of derbies being used to push an increase in regional tourism, but… … there is juicy bait within! Once that one lad on RTG who can read tells the rest about it, the fewm will be biblical
  13. We were definitely in for Kennedy who decided to play for his team rather than his old club, (probably had bad memories of our old board?) anyway he was, like Gates, going to the third division whilst we finished 8th in division one. A lucky escape for us. If Charlton wanted Gates in 84 that would've been a decent signing then but seeing the forwards he bought he seems a little small and mobile for Charlton?
  14. i love this way of thinking. i hear the same on bluemoon. and i'm sure liverpool are saying the same about wirtz. and arsenal about any old striker. i'm going with, "if city get a quality right back, we are winning the league" i doubt man utd fans are thinking it mind you
  15. Using “God Only Knows” as the example, I think it’s because 1- He did it first 2- Used/invented studio techniques to get multi-layered harmonies that were groundbreaking, at the time. 3- wasn’t his cunt cousin, Mike Love. Like a lot of music from that era, people have become, perhaps not blasé about it, but have heard it so much they’re used to it. Everthing that followed it using the same, or improved, techniques probably also now falls into that category, so the uniqueness of his talent has become dulled with time. I absolutely love some Beach Boys tracks, unbelievable sound and vibe.
  16. Wasn't he part of the reason Jack Charlton walked after a year? Pretty certain I read Gates had been identified as the replacement for Waddle but in the end, he chose to go to the Mackems. SBR claimed he was one of the most underrated players he had at Ipswich.
  17. All that email is missing is a FTM at the end. Maybe that's in his email signature?
  18. I'm casting my mind back many years, but I don't recall there being any coding to do in the early days. It was still very much plug and play. I wonder if it's the product of multiple upgrades along the way and the interface simply hasn't kept up with some of the older features? Anyway back to the funding - good to know but if there is the need to dip our hands in our pockets, I, and I'm sure many of the other regulars will be only too happy to help - this place really is a much needed departure from the shite that is everyday life - cheers Andrew, massively appreciate what you do.
  19. You wouldn't think that appropriate from a junior new starter, let alone someone supposedly senior 😂😂
  20. Brian Wilson being described as literally a genius by people with very good qualifications to be able to make that judgement..lots citing "God only knows" as the greatest song ever written....so it is just me then that doesn't really get Wilson or the Beach Boys? I hear good songs and nice harmonies but I also got that from the Brotherhood of Man RIP Brian, you had the same name as our coalman 🙂
  21. Imagine putting that in a work email. Then actually reading it back and deciding it was a good idea to send it
  22. Gates was a good player but he was past his best when he went there. I know he gets plaudits from them for scoring in that match but, iirc, he never played a top flight match for them and was also part of the side relegated to the third tier
  23. I've got the blokes email address so he's getting signed up to all sorts of spam shite.
  24. They never learn. Also, that list of the five most skilful players ffs. That must have taken fucking hours to draw that up as well
  25. Dementia sufferers will often fall back on often used phrases from before they became ill If I ever get it, I hope that once I can’t recognise my family and friends I start greeting them with ” who’s this Cunt?”
  26. https://bsky.app/profile/emilyoram.bsky.social/post/3lrdjj6eb4k2g I wouldn't call this incredible but it's quite fun
