I don't disagree with a lot of that. But in theory I quite like the idea of the best clubs from each federations best leagues playing each other to see who is the best in the world. But it should be just that, the best teams from the best leagues. Not the 4th or 5th best, not the winner of a cup. It should be English, Spanish, German, Italian champions vs the champions of Brazil, Argentina, US, Mexico, Japan, Korea etc. Have a simple knock out competition so teams only have to play 3 or 4 games even if they make it all the way to the final.

Nah it's a load of shite all about the money. You can't fit it into the football calendar. We have the World Cup for this kind of country based comp as well as Euros, COPA America, ACON, AFC Cup etc. Then Champion's League, Europa etc and Domestic Cups through the regular. There's no room for anything else this is just cash grab bollocks with no meaning or legacy. Nice advantage to the big clubs and even the smaller clubs who managed to qualify. Chelsea qualified for it by winning the 2021-22 Champion's League 4 years ago. The NZ team in it qualify through the Oceania Cup which started as a Cup essentially between Australia and NZ, until Australia left to join AFC (Asia) in order to have a more consistent World Cup qualification path, so now it's NZ teams vs tiny island nations. Most teams are already amongst the richest in their country (if not the world) so it's another way to elevate them financially. It's soulless. Of course if we manage to ever qualify I take all of the above back.
