West Ham had a £6mill offer for Upson rejected Beeb link
-
Bet they offered the most for the exclusive Er isn't this in the Sunday Sun? It was in the Mirror an'all. Not sure whose interview it was in the first place, but I know the Sunday Sun like to nick their stories from other papers. Okey dokey, I was just going by the third paragraph in the story on the first page and that I noticed when in the shop on Sunday, hadn't realised it was in other publications.

Ugo Ehiogu anyone? Bit old and not particularly good even when he was younger but could he provide a stablising influence?

And Upson and McSheffery have moved to Villa. So I'm told. SSN Breaking News alledgedly.

Whey Ashley Cole has been wank recently.

A helluva lot can happen in nine days like. Which in our case will probably mean umpteen training ground injuries.

Hi, I'd like to introduce you to a brand new concept in Message Board practise, it's called a tangent. Hamilton Academicals I think.

Watched them for the first time recently, and I agree, although I think the first one spanks the second. For me he could have condensed a bit and got them into one film but they are great. As for his other efforts, I like Jackie Brown a lot and Pulp Fiction is awesome, could watch it any time. But Resevoir Dogs is probably my favourite film of all time.

Huntington is going to have to go centre half with Ramage unless Bramble is ready to shift his fat arse into first gear.

If that's the last five goals we concede this season then I'll be prepared to admit, that yes it was only one game.

We all know our chairman's view on grass roots football and teams below his.

Did anyone else think we seemed a bit too confident of winning?

I think we have to accept we need to build over the next few seasons, integrating the young defenders could be very good for our future. A back 4-6 who all grow together would be tremendous for us. If we can just concentrate on getting a core of decent players and a stable manager we can start to think about winning cups again. Until then, I think we should stick to the league. The main flaw in that being none of them are actually very good, including home grown future england captain Taylor. They're young lads who can learn together....unless you think John Terry's about to persuade Ashley, Gary and Rio to look for Geordie ancestry So let's put up with the shite we've got, purely because we can't sign John Terry? Have a word with yourself! You're claiming that they'll all suddenly become good because they're young enough and will play together long enough? Afraid it doesn't work that way. I'm saying that people of the calibre we'd like aren't going to want to come here. Very true. -
Can't see us getting another centre half, we have about 6. We are absolutely desperate for a left back though. Don't like slagging players off, but Ramage's performance last night was worthy of slagging of the highest order... We need someone who can keep the other defenders in line and be a commanding and calm presence at the back. Ramage was starting to get the hang of the ordering about part but last night could hardly order his own taxi. Taylor is like a bull in a china shop at the best of times and does he have some inferiority complex about his pace or does he have none. I know Ramage is slow but I thought Taylor was supposed to be fairly quick. If so why was he always a yard behind the line and had to go for the man (Campbell) as opposed to going after the ball when he had a head start. Also having the goalkeeper captaining the side is a mistake in my opinion. Can't drive the team forward from there.

Pretty sure it lead to the first goal and the free kick that got taylor sent off. Don't agree about the first goal at all. The goal came about because our defenders failed to clear the ball. The strikers lost it about 3 minutes before the ball went in. Aye, Ramage to blame in particular. I just couldn't believe he attempted to pass to Huntington who had absolutely nee idea it was coming when the attacker was stood about two yards from him.

I'm all for the arguement that defenders have to keep playing together and as they get older they should be able to improve as a group. But some of the individual errors that were there last night should have been eliminated years ago. These are professionals, they have been learning the game throughout their teens, they should have some idea how to close down, stand an attacker, put their foot through the ball. -
I would't add that. I came out of that one thinking the same as everyone else: how can we have played so well but lost 4-1? It was insane. As I said in another thread, the Villa match was horrific in terms of performance, the sendings off, the booing of O'Brien, the fight, Taylor's ludicrous handball. Awful. Agree about the Villa game, complete joke. But at least the players had some semblence of fight about them.

Had aboot an inch and a half of snow at home probably gone by now, seems to be just hail here though.

Well... i'd much rather lose 5-1 at home to Birmingham than 6-3 to fucking Arsenal! How exactly is that better????? I think he hates Arsenal nearly as much as he hates Shola for some reason. Losing 6-3 at home to Arsenal in the League Cup is nowhere near as bad though, I agree. It's probably because they are so alike in their dazzling style of football. -
Yeah, Nobby, Ramage and Taylor have all made it very easy for Roeder to drop them and bring back Carr, Bramble etc. Nowt like a spirited performance to get the manager thinking. And that was nowt like a spirited performance.
-
Suspended, or is that not till the weekend after? He is suspended for the midweek game against Villa Okey dokey. Is Taylor banned for just the one game then?

This I agree with totally. I personally feel that this has been a problem for a long time now. Why the hell is is that we cannot string three passes together without losing possesion. The opposition never need to get dirty, just hold back and as sure as night becomes day we'll give them the ball back. More than anything we need to learn the basic principals of get the ball give it to someone in a similar shirt as your own, maybe then that person gives to someone else in black and white, keep doing this while advancing down the grassy thing you play on, give it to Martins then he can maybe wellie it into the funny looking object with the net on it. One of the big problems we've got is that noone seems to know how to find a bit of space and show for an easy ball. Which means the lad on the ball ends up twisting and looking about and gets closed down resulting in a rushed ball to noone. Or the receiver stands there and looks at the thing whilst the defender nips in front and takes it. Or the worst one, when the other players seem to just stand around the lad with the ball all within about three yards of him and expect a pass. What's the point?

Probably get mocked for this like, but I think we sorely missed either Parker or Emre last night (or both). Butt looked like a man who had been out ill the week before (the impression I got was that Sunday was played on adrenilin and last night was a game too much) and we needed one of those two to get hold of the game in the middle and stem the flow. Not saying it would have helped the absmal defending but it might have kept us going. Pattison needs dropped and I'd put Dyer out wide where Milner is and bring the other two back into the middle if and when fit obviously. When's Duff supposed to be back? As for the back four, if we don't sign one each of centre-half, right fullback and left full back then we're a bit screwed. Can't see it happening like.
