I think years ago it was light years ahead of football in this country in terms of fitness, players’ diets, training, analysis and so on. But the game itself is quite straightforward to understand. Apart from the odd snippet I haven’t really watched it since its Channel Four heyday though. There’s too little action relative to the amount of time the whole match takes imo when you watch it live. When C4 first showed it, it was the highlights of the previous Monday night game plus a round up of the other matches. Which I think probably made it more palatable
