just started down cemetery road. great cast and reviews but i wasn't convinced by the first episode. found the dialogue and characters a bit naff so far

and here was me thinking this was the week CT finally got the hang of this TV recommendations lark

i feel sorry for burn. he offers great competition/depth at LCB with botman but he's not a left back. we shouldn't play him except when we're desperate, as we are currently due to injuries

tactical apparently. howe said gordon was nursing a hip niggle

we also saw something on sunday that i thought howe got out of his system last season - panicking into throwing players on in the second half almost at random when chasing a game and seemingly losing all shape, with players out of position in the process. at one point it looked like joelinton was left wing and tonali was right back. something's gone wrong there.

i think loads of us would like to see that but eddie said in a recent press conference that nick wasn't signed to play as a number 10 because we don't play with a number 10. a rigid tactical approach alongside his loyalty to certain players are the two areas where eddie has room for improvement. i would have hooked joelinton on sunday instead of woldemade, switched to a 4-2-3-1 and tried playing osula just ahead of nick. but 4-3-3 is the style that brought eddie success and his only plan b seems to be three at the back.

we probably needed to upgrade matt targett in hindsight. tino, hall and trippier are solid options at full back and tino covers both flanks. but beyond that there's a big drop off in quality. and trippier isn't getting any younger so can't be playing multiple games a week for long -

the wife and i stopped buying each other presents a few years ago for similar reasons. instead we agreed to only buy each other "experiences"- could be a reservation at a posh restaurant, tickets for a gig or standup, spa hotel break etc. can be a bit more expensive than clothes or whatever, but forces you into spending some time together away from the kids and is something to look forward to

that would be awful because away fans are the best fans. the london stadium is a lot like SJP used to be when ashley was in charge - mostly apathetic, sometimes toxic. loads of empty seats and plenty of silent tourist fans. it's not a particularly hostile place to sit. i was openly talking about how i saw the game from a newcastle POV with my mate and no one seemed to give a shit
