The Flash was okay - the CGI was hilariously bad at times but it was a decent attempt at the flashpoint story. Bringing back Keaton as Batman was a smart move but they ended it with Clooney being Affleck's replacement - which I think was nothing more than an easter egg. You should watch the suicide squad reboot and peacemaker series though - both are really good - effectively R-rated Guardians and a hard reboot of the universe. I think Gunn's vision of the DC universe stands to be everything the latest phases of marvel should have been based on the initial offerings.

The spider man versions are the most consistently good tbf, at least the first films for Maguire and Garfield and all of the MCU films. The fact that we’re going to have 2 active batmans (three if they inexplicably do something with clooney after flash) and potentially three jokers at once is too much mind you. I’m getting on now and want one person playing one version of each character.

The infamous iron man arc is the logic they are using, but even that would rely on Downey Jr being dead and replaced by Dr Doom, following a redemption arc which also relies on him being a complete bastard for a long time which won’t work as RDJ is beloved - that’s why their version of civil war was messy because Iron Man was the big bad of that comic series and a complete cunt. They already have the multiverse angle to bring back an alternate Tony Stark played by RDJ if they really wanted to (and literally teased in the Dr Strange sequel), but that would be too easy. I did like Moon Knight and the Captain America and Winter Soldier series but I’ve pretty much checked out since. Also, Guardians 3 was absolutely class tbf, but Gunn just gets it. His vision of DC will be class if Suicide Squad and Peacemaker are anything to go by.

They should just look at black panther as the template for taking a minority marvel character and making a film that does the character justice. It just feels like an assembly line now to churn out as much content trying to reach as many demographics as possible and missing all of them. Aye Ms Marvel was okay for what it was, I’m sure my daughter will love it in a few years as she hits her teenage angst phase.

Exactly! The whole point I was making was that the source material is class but the series was completely terrible.

I think with marvel it tried, admirably, to be more inclusive but it came at the cost of quality IMO. Let’s force she-hulk out there with zero context because it’s a female badass superhero and that’s all that matters really. She hulk is fucking mint and they dropped the ball hard with that character. Hopefully, deadpool 3 can help repair some of the damage, and the new captain America trailer gives me hope for the future films as it looks really decent. Plus a new daredevil series which includes the punisher stands to be good so long as they allow it to be as brutal as the seasons that came before.
