Need to annihilate these. 4-0 I hope. My other half hates the Algerians already so it's double the pleasure when we beat them.

This one is surely Slovakia for me. NZ's keeper looks like he belongs in Sunday football. If the Slovaks just kick it in the vague direction of the goal he might let it in.

If you are representing your country - be it adopted or native - you need to know their national anthem and you should be singing it. I'm the last one for any sort of patriotic bollocks but I do think it's a disgrace when I see teams lined up while their anthem is playing and a lot of stony, thick faces staring back at me. I realise most of these footballers are only playing for themselves and couldn't give a shit about Germany/Belgium/Togo etc (another reason why Carragher shouldn't have been invited) but it's disgraceful. As for Ozil, he seems another one who's only out for himself. It's all very well to recite the Qur'an and look to God for guidance before the game - look at all the Latin players who cross themselves a dozen times before coming on, for example - but to do it during the national anthem is disrespectful and to tell the national media about it sends across a statement like "yeah, who cares about Germany, I'm really just a Turk and I'm just playing for Germany because they have more chance of winning something and giving me more glory."

Gutless performance and terrible team selection. Baffling all around. This kind of shit will just see us through against Algeria and Slovenia but Capello has got to get it sorted if we're to get any further.
-
Drop him? I reckon he'll be shot for that.
-
Godlike in FM 2008. Class in real life as well. Does he still play for some Israeli club or have someone decent signed him?
-
Buy with what money? Did you miss the entire last month?
-
He doesn't, though. He didn't pick Higuain forever. It was only after the Argentine press started to complain Higuain was selected. Jonas looks good as a wing-back, always thought he could play that position for us. Nigeria look weak and have wasted their possession. Martins needs to come on, I'd say.

Not being funny Noelie, but The Gooch is the yank in Italy and despite being noble hasn't really done anything. Also, I wouldn't be wholly impressed by an American plying his trade in 4 of the leagues you mention. He missed (nearly) the entire season with a knee injury. More classic knowledge from The Fish I'd miss him if he didn't post. Mind Gooch is shite though. Tbh though, we don't really have any standout defensemen on our backline. They don't work badly as a unit, but individually, none of them are anything to write home about. Wouldn't go so far as to call him shite though. He's quite good at defending against corners and crosses where he can use his height to his advantage, although does have a tendency to ball watch when the action is close up. We heard that before he signed for us and considering his size he was pretty gash in the air. He was awful for us in general though, god knows how he ended up at AC Milan. He had a good Confederations Cup. They signed him pretty much on that basis (and also that Leonardo was clueless.) But he's awful.
-
On topic, how terrible was Domenech's team selection? His substitutions were awful as well. Govou was gash, Toulalan wasn't any better, and swapping Anelka out for Henry - keeping one striker on the pitch against an opponent who are obviously focusing on defence - only helped Uruguay blunt their attacks all the easier. Tbf to Uruguay, they got what they came for and even had a handful of chances to win it. Class performance. Will probably come down to them v. Mexico.

Yanks Figured it out on my own, thanks you tiresome cunt. Surprised you could spare a moment from arguing with Leazes. Bit harsh Tbf it's a pretty basic part of the offside rule. Tbf you're a pretty basic troll. On topic: Is this Nacho Gonzalez playing for Uruguay the one who Wisey brought in for us? EDIT: Yes, it is. Now his youtube compilations can include WC footage. Calm down you daft twat, it was only a bit of banter before the big game. I hope your national team is as knowledgeable as you are about basic laws of the game I was born in the UK and live in New York. "My" national team is the same as yours. But carry on.

I saw some people saying that was a good call? Did I miss something? There was a SA defender on the goal line, how was Vela not onside when he scored? I had pegged this game at 2-1 Mex, only that awful decision robbed me. Next game, 2-0 to our cher cousines, I imagine.

American-style global event coverage. Bongo Bongoland? Classy.
-
The US press have been giving it pretty big as of late and they reckon they have a chance on Saturday. I think they are in for a pretty significant shock and I think we will defeat them soundly - and this coming from someone who doesn't rate England's chances in this year's WC highly at all. Like other countries where the majority of their squads play abroad, the USA have significant cohesion problems and are prone to a lot of individualism. They don't work particularly well as a unit, have no reliable strikers, and I think all the signs are there for a collapse. If the other teams in our group were halfway decent - South Korea, Cameroon, that sort of level - I'd doubt USA's qualification chances, but as it is I think they'll manage to beat both Algeria and Slovenia.

Feilhaber is gutless and useless. He haven't set anything alight in Denmark, apart from his club getting relegated Played for Derby in 2007-2008 didn't he? Seems like he's another relegation specialist.
-
I'd have taken Bent instead of Heskey, that plodder. Probably would've taken Baines instead of 1-cap Warnock. Sad to see Adam Johnson go home but in truth he probably wasn't ready.
-
So Leeds rejected some money from us to flog him in January but let him go for free in June. He didn't contribute much in the second half of the season iirc?
-
it it were down to me, Heskey's miss confirms he is inferior to Crouch and puts him on the plane home but it didn't need confirming to me anyway. Huddlestone should never have got anywhere near an England cap in the first place. He should go home and will prob be joined by Scott Parker. Given a choice between Walcott, Lennon and Wright Phillips, I would send Walcott home. Dawson will go home. So will Upson. The other place is anybodys guess Agreed with all of this. I'd send Lennon home too if I were Capello, useless waster. With SWP and Milner to contend for the right mid place, I'm not bothered about not having the one-trick pony of one-trick ponies to call on.
-
You should've broken out the "he was here long before you..." line.

Spain for me I'd say.

Fucking hell. Was this the idea of our new media advisor? Can't these clowns keep their traps shut? I thought there weren't going to be any more statements? Cringeworthy.

We're talking about Qatar here. Financially doable to the Western world is pocket change to them, especially when that money is spent on raising the profile of their country.
