  1. Im all for steadying the ship as such but throwing a contract at a bad manager for the sake of it is silly wouldnt you say? Here's my take on it. A managerless club is a club in crisis. Nobody knows who's in charge. Nobody will want to buy a club in crisis, and the players and fans will rapidly lose confidence just as we are doing now. By having a manager, we at least give the appearance of functioning as a normal club should. And you have to ask one question of any potential appointment: can he make the situation any worse? I don't think Zico can, myself.
  2. Didn't Zico say something about wanting to manage us? Throw some money at the man and get him in before we sink beyond all recovery (and before he changes his mind, if he hasn't already.) I don't care if he's a terrible manager, we need someone and we need him now.
  3. Your post was but this story is absolute bollocks.
  4. Really felt Geremi put in one of his better performances, consistently decent balls although he is obviously old, slow, and not fit for our first team. I thought Coloccini looked class today as well, we could've easily given up another three without some of his tackles. Obviously Keegan's desire to get Warnock in was "outrageous." What was the man thinking, trying to get a recognised left back in to play left back? Incidentally, does anyone know what Enrique's story is? Surely Dowd could've given one of the four appeals for handball.
  5. I was once one of his detractors but he has thoroughly won me over. I still believe he'll be among the first to jump ship, but I appreciate his effort while he still wears the shirt. Can't see a future for him at the club as long as we continue this way.
  6. It's not like we need a neutral to tell us what our problems are. You think we don't know that our midfield is crap? Have you seen our injury list recently? Did you know we had a manager who wanted to strengthen the squad, before he was forced out by a tyrannical owner and his poison dwarf lackey who don't want to spend any money because they're just trying to make a profit? We lose to Hull, you lose to Numancia...
  7. Shocking game so far, we look like we're already down. Edgar looked promising when he first made the first team but he's been downhill ever since. Why would Bassong not start ahead of him? Cacapa is pathetic. Geremi looks around seventy years old. Xisco is nowhere to be seen. N'Zogbia is not a left-back. The list goes on. Thanks Fat Mike - hope you're watching.
  8. How long has it been since Cacapa started a game? And in midfield?
  9. Does that mean the Zog will finally be in CM? Or is it some bollocks with Colo at DM and Cacapa as center back? EDIT: At least Stroller's on the bench.
  10. Gentlemanly of Ferguson, who I of course despise. And as said, I doubt Arsenal would really be Arsenal if they didn't have someone as gifted as Wenger selecting the players. Wise is not Wenger.
  11. Bolded bit = Nevertheless, I concede myself well beaten considering not one of my predictions was right. That said, same as you, if Celtic v. Aalborg were on again tomorrow I'd still back Celtic.
  12. Don't believe a word of that last article tbh. It's fashionable to bash Ashley (he deserves it, but it's fashionable nonetheless) and so everyone's jumping on the bandwagon and making up ridiculous nonsense.
  13. Celtic over Aalborg for me any day, I like your thinking on Zenit and am surprised their odds aren't lower, Man U surely to win, think Fener might well surprise Porto, and Arsenal looks pretty certain to me also.
  14. All right lads, you know I've never tried any ITK nonsense on with you but here's what I've heard. Living in New York as I do, there have been rumors going about concerning Ashley's visit to the Pink Elephant club while the Keegan saga was going on. The word is that Ashley has long been an admirer of Steve Bruce, but couldn't approach him after the Allardyce sacking since he'd just joined Wigan not long ago. People claiming to know say that Ashley intimated several times that Bruce would be our next manager during his stay at the nightclub. With that out of the way, I know some people on here have only scorn for Bruce, but would it be heretical of me to say I could see him here? He's done a job with both Birmingham and Wigan, made some inspired buys (although some not-so-inspired buys too) and I think we could do worse.
  15. Where's Viduka on that list? That's another one.
  16. Given and martins wouldnt be too much of a loss and can easily be replaced Do you have a Martins radar? Whenever he gets mentioned, it seems you pop up to tell us all how worthless he is. Don't take anyone for granted at this stage man. Even disregarding the Given nonsense, to say that Newcastle can easily attract a player on a level with Martins at this point is a little presumptuous. I'd rather we didn't lose anyone since the prospects of replacing them seem so bleak.
  17. Roma Werder were laughable. Anyone checked Ketsbaia's odds recently? I'd almost have him, is how desperate we are.
  18. Arabian Business, like any Middle Eastern publication, is astonishingly unreliable. I'd be surprised if they even spelled the names right. If they got anything right about Man City, well, even a stopped clock is right twice daily. I really do get the feeling all of these sell rumors are a smokescreen trying to give us the impression that Ashley's interested in selling so we'll calm down and let him get on with the business of making money. His snide little "don't bother protesting as I've got the message" cements that feeling for me. If we sell before Christmas it'll be a shock imo.
  19. This is a despicable heap of filth, the kind that I imagine pigs would produce rather than grown men with degrees. How more biased and completely not impartial can those first few paragraphs get? Here is a message for the lying, fabricating, ignorant, baying hounds of Fleet Street: You are not good writers. You are not witty, engaging, funny, or truthful. You have no right to talk about our club.
  20. Hope you were watching, Ashley. If this is the best we can do I think we'd better be looking for a new manager...someone with Championship experience.
  21. Shades for Derby for me. Shola playing, us losing, NUFC circus rolls on. If we equalise I'll be surprised, but I can see Hull getting another one.
  22. Thoughts from someone who was there on the day: September 11th was a dark day in the history of the USA. I'm not one to harp on how terrible it must have been for the families and the like - although it certainly was - but in my opinion it's a day that ought to be consigned to the dustbin of history. The people who died should be remembered in a tasteful ceremony, perhaps have radio stations reading the names throughout the day or some such. That's my thoughts on the subject, and that's why it disgusts me how the States have managed to turn one of the worst days in their history into some flag-waving extravaganza. I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in hearing how much safer we've made the world, or how we have to protect our freedom from those who want to take it from us, how we're a greater nation today, etc. The attacks were a great wrong done against the USA, but they have also proven to be the justification for a great many wrongs done by the USA, and the manner in which this was done was by transforming an infamous day into some kind of jingoist bash. Patriot Day? Don't make me laugh. Why should anyone be more proud to be an American citizen today than any other day? I'd be less proud to be a citizen today, since today is when the wire taps, the deprivation of habeus corpus, the imprisonment of innocents that lasts to the present day, the illegal attacks on other soverign nations, etc. all began - and that's not even mentioning the unwarranted deaths. Americans don't realise it now, but forty years from now, they'll know how to remember 9/11, just like decades on they now know how to remember Pearl Harbor. Two very similar events that have had two very similar effects, but have two very similar anniversaries. So yes, I think that most of the stuff in this thread is disrespectful. But I also think the way the States are handling the anniversary is disrespectful. So maybe it's just me. That's my rant for the day - it is rambling and off topic but there it is nevertheless.
  23. Aye, there's something to all that, I agree. Mind, Steve McLaren and Big Sam were the front runners last time out. Well they're just feckless, and there's no excusing that. I just meant that a foreign coach was the best option, given the alternatives. Maybe we can hire that new Dutch lad, what's his name? Steve van something...
