  1. I take it you're not a big city person? I used to live in Bristol and think it's a great place. It's got bad areas, but is probably the "nicest" of the country's biggest cities. However if you don't live in a nice area there you still may like it for the city centre, nightlife, entertainment etc. Same with Nottingham where my sister has just finished university - seems to love it even though it's got a very bad (and probably exaggerated) reputation. I don't think you'll find many places that are consistently nice in the UK. In my view, a lot of it is about your emotional attatchment to the place.
  2. Saw Prince Caspian today. Thought it was a bit crap tbh.
  3. how many of the big cities are "nice" places then? none of them can be as they will all have grotty areas. it's a subjective thing really. I reckon most towns/cities in this country will seem dull unless you have an emotional attatchment to it of some sort.
  4. I think there's far worse places than Birmingham/Leeds/Liverpool. They're big, meaning they have scummy areas but also have something going for them. The worst places are surely old industrial places with nothing exciting happening there. The big cities at least have decent city centres.
  5. However we won't be too harsh by letting them keep Paul McShane.
  6. Nailed on to be class for us then... I haven't a clue how good this guy will be, so I'll reserve judgement. All we can do is support him and give him time to settle and simply hope he isn't another Luque.
  7. Not secondary school, but I went to a primary school reunion which was interesting to say the least. We'd all changed so much as you'd expect from back in the day. Had some great chats with some of my enemies back then and it ended up being a hilarious night out. Since then all the local schools seem to be having reunions.
  8. Sneijder looked class. Deserved it as much as Arshavin, who only played three games and went missing in the most important one. Interesting that Semih and Podolski aren't there when they both scored more than Arshavin, Pavyluchenko and Torres.
  9. You do whatever you want and not worry because it doesn't exactly matter.
  10. I think we should look at some of the Russian players. At least they won't moan about bad weather.
  11. Ah yes, I remember now - gave me a few laughs. Really comes out of himself on stage and he even admitted he was really nervous before the night iirc. My mates all thought Bat For Lashes was good and I can't see why really. I thought she had one or two decent songs but overall thought the music was pretty poor. That "I saw the light" song was plain rubbish for example. They weren't helped by technical failures to be fair. I was quite disappointed that they came back on. I agree, that Light song was awful. Every song just sounded the same to me. Although credit to some of the band for musical variety/talent - the same girl played guitar, keyboard, drum and violin! Yup, same here - got bored of them very quickly. I think the singer said she was Bat For Lashes and the rest were her backing band or something, which was a shame as that girl who played all those instruments should get far more credit. Oh well, the main band were stunning and tbh despite what I said earlier it was still annoying to see reviews claiming the gig "disappoints". Hardly an objective fact - just the opinion of a very pedantic journalist. I was only disappointed that it finished tbh, amazing gig. I guess that was a disappointment. Where were you standing? I was near the front - did you get some crazy drunken black guy come near you? He was brilliant. Yeh we were close to the front, directly in line with Thom Yorke. I remember a black guy charge through everyone to get to the front, was that the same one? Probably. He kept coming near us and acting really strangely. I must have been quite near you as I was near the middle. The crowd nearby were a bit irritating and loads stood still which was boring, though there's only so much you can do at a Radiohead gig.
  12. This is a great thread.
  13. thanks to that terrible manager Martin Jol.

  17. Is being a scouser yet at the same time not English the in thing these days or something?
  18. Set list last night was better but Tuesday was still immense. I've read a few reviews complaining that not enough 'hits' were played, but when you've got so many amazing songs its impossible to play everything. I'd have loved to have seen Street Spirit, Paranoid Android and The Bends but I bet others were gutted they missed The Tourist, Planet Telex, Airbag etc. Absolutely love Idioteque, its such a class song to finish on. Was dancing around like a fucking mong but was just brilliant. We were staying at a mate's in Whitechapel (which incidentally is THE biggest shithole i've ever been in) so we just hung around after and went to a pub called Top O The Morning just near the park, had a lock-in which was marvellous. Indeed, they know how to make a gig brilliant and Thom Yorke was brilliant of course. We were all going crazy during Idioteque, so nothing to worry about. The surrounding areas of the park were pretty horrid though. Being stuck in Mile End in an incredibly slow moving queue (and being a bit claustrophobic also) wasn't enjoyable. Luckily we managed to get our train just in time. I know others who got stuck in London, who like us probably expected it to end earlier as the gates opened at 4pm. Not sure if it was different on Wednesday.
  19. I hope you're being sarcastic. Then again, it won't affect the city your team are from, where employing anyone would be a first. Move to the modern age, this law has been in place in Europe for years ... you island monkeys (as you are commonly known as in Europe) are so far behind it`s unreal. Yes that's right. Discriminating against men and white people is the way forward. It is. Good to see you believe in equality then.

  21. Great idea. After all, it's pretty clear white people are all hopeless and it's okay to discriminate against them because they are the original people of this country who have never received unfair treatment across the world.
  22. I saw them at Victoria Park on Tuesday. Fantastic show, though they did leave out some classics and the crowd around me were annoying. But the rest of the gig more than made up for it. I was, however, irritated by being stuck in east London for ages trying to get out in the really slow moving crowds. Only just got my train back home otherwise my friends and I would have been stuck in London for the night.
  23. Pavyluchenko may be a good signing. He's looked a good striker when I've seen him play.
  24. I think Lennon could be a good signing personally, but his delivery needs to improve. He was still very impressive when he first played for England a couple of years ago and would be very happy for him to play here if he could so that again.
