  1. Whitley have got ex-NUFC forward Paul Robinson in this season, but they've not had the best of starts- currently lying third bottom of the Northern Div One.
  2. I think you'll find tomorrow night's game is against Whitby Town. The Prescot FAC game is Saturday!

    Charver scum

What we need is legal power to actually do something about it. That required a government who will make it a priority to stop launching glitzy initiatives and start kicking some arses. This one won't do it, the Lib Dems certainly won't do it and the Tories are still too unpopular to get the votes even if they said they'd crack down. One thing I'm sure of is that this will be THE issue at the next election. I admit to being something of a radical on this issue, as I feel the social decline is primarily due to a lack of discipline from a parental stage and would simply not allow unsuitable parent to have kids. Anyone wishing to raise a family would need a licence. Sounds draconian, but you need one to drive a car don't you- which one can cause most damage if handled without due care- a car or a person?
  4. If you're only using the network for net traffic then there will of course be zero difference. You'll only need 125 if you are regularly transferring a large volume of data (such as backing up a drive to a central filestore)
  5. No-show for me, I'm visiting friends int' North West that weekend!
  6. Given the hideous quality of the home kit, I won't be wasting a penny on this one, which is a shame because I like it.
  7. Lock the router to MAC addresses if you must- then you'll only get hacked if you live within 100 metres of a super-nerd and he would be easily hunted down.
  8. The 3com ones from Ebuyer are a good deal, you get a PCMCIA wirless card as part of the deal too. I have one and provided you update the firmware after initial setup, it's a great bit of kit.

    Fuel Protests

If these protesters came up with a plan to reduce fuel duty, balanced with other tax rises and a clear report on the likely environmental impact on car travel suddenly becoming a lot cheaper, then maybe the government would listen. "Cut fuel tax now, ug" will get the contempt it deserves.

    Fuel Protests

Yeah, the government are filthy robbing scum. It's a disgrace. Actually, the revenue from tax on fuel is a significant part of national taxation income and ultimately pays for government expenditure (and the time to argue about how the government spends that money is on election day). So that cash goes on hospitals, schools, police, roads and daft statues. The argument about prices in other countries is worthless unless you want to include all their other taxation policies and public spending records. These protests simply go to show how little the majority of the British public understand about how things really work. If lorry drivers were economic experts, they wouldn't be driving lorries in the first place. The view of the TUC chief says it all. Anyone who fancies more strikes because they are on some kind of 'people power' jaunt (like in 2000- or was it '01?) should think carefully about the effect on the economy. Also note the hauliers have changed tack- their protest a few years ago called for an immediate and drastic cut in fuel duty (something that only served to underline the point that these people should not be forcing economic decisions) for all road users. Now they are more looking for a rebate for haulage companies. So fuel is expensive these days? What is price- what you perceive a product to be worth, or what you are prepared to pay for it?
  11. In a late turn of events, I think I'm going to have lie-in (and I need one) then turn up afterwards. See you guys there.
  12. I'm sure I can think of something.
  13. Indian gets my vote, but like Chinese food as well. Pizzas and anything cheese-based are out.
  14. Also, PC World (scum) have a good deal on this Fujitsu Siemens. http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/034869 For me, that's an absolute steal considering the 17" is included. Beware of any warranty-selling attempts though, as ever- do not get sucked in. Simply tell them you will leave without buying anything if they attempt to sell you one.
  15. That Toshiba looks a good un. From the same site, a lower-spec Toshiba - Toshiba - A60 - Windows XP Home - Intel Pentium 4 3200Mhz Processor - Notebook 512Mb DDR SDRAM pc333 - 40Gb IDE notebook hard drive - 15" XGA TFT-LCD (1024x768) - Notebook internal DVD Rewriter - 64Mb Radeon 7000 (Shared) - Sound on board - Standard onboard 10-100 RJ45 NIC - Notebook on board 56k V90 modem - Three USB ports - 0 notebook PCMCIA slot used 1 free - UK keyboard layout - 2 DIMM slots used 0 free - No Bluetooth - Wireless Lan bg £551 inc vat Not as upgradeable as the other (both DIMM slots used so upgrading memory would mean removing existing modules) but it's not a bad price.
  16. Went to Digital for the first time last thursday. Liked the music but I left after less than an hour as I was knackered. Bit of a strange place, really.
  17. Right, what exactly do you want to do with this laptop? And is portability paramount? Because you get an awful lot more for your money with a desktop system. I'm amazed by how little laptop technology has moved on in recent years. Some of the lower-budget models now are little better than my laptop which is over 4 years old and was decent at the time but far from top-spec. Compare that to a few years ago and systems were completely obsolete within 2 years.
  18. At Uni, all IT services will be run over standard network cables (cat 5e or cat 6 if it's geet posh and new) they will all use RJ45 connectors and any laptop you get these days will be fully network ready. If you'll use it at home and plug it in directly to a broadband connection then the connection is entirely different- not many laptops will have a built in broadband modem. I'll have a scout for you and try to find some decent prices.
  19. If Nobby gets fit then we can worry a lot less about Dyer. In fact if Emre can stay fit and keep his form then Dyer will be little more than an expensive benchwarmer.
