I live with a girl who has a dodgy thyroid and yet she manages to keep a good figure. I know there ARE reasons why some people get over-weight, but I doubt that it's impossible for them to combat it. it's more the people who bemoan their weight yet do fuck all about it. I'd agree with Steve if being fat had NOTHING to do with choice. You don't choose be gay, black or whatever, You can choose to do something about your weight.

I loved being a teenager, no responsibilities, no real concerns, so much stuff that you hadn't tried yet. Finding out who you are shouldn't be a chore, it should be something that you look forward to. Bunch of miserable buggers!

Naff off Cath, you're not in the same group as those that have been described. You're not the Obese "It's me thyroid" clan. You chose to change your build/weight/whateverthefuckever. You tackled it a way that most people who are technically "obese" should, I struggle with my weight, I'm 6' tall and yet according to the BMI I should be 11 stone... now if any saw me, they would agree that at 11 stone I would look positiviely underweight. I think the point of this thread is less about those of us who struggle with weight and aim to be boxed into that "Physically fit" group... and more about those individuals who fly in the fa ce of evidence and proclaim that it's society,biology or Santa's fault they're overweight.... both of my sisters are technically "morbidly Obese" and while I can dance in between the "Obese and "normal" category, it would take severe weight loss for either sister to be classed as "Normal"... what I'm trying to say is both my sisters yearn for someone to blame, "It's not my fault, it's my thyroid"... when in fact if they exercised for half an hour a day and ate better they'd lose wieght .... I'm not a modicum of physical fitness, but I eat right, I exercise daily and I work hard to bring my weight to an acceptable level... It makes me proud to come in at whatever weight I've set myself a target.. My sisters would prefer to work a little, fail, then declare that the targets were impossible, standards too high. so Cath while you've tried and succeeded in losing weight, this thread sin't about you, it's not about you and me... the people who want to change their figure or whatever, it's the people who can't be arsed.. I might be wrong though.... p.s. I honestly don't think you need to lose weight. You suit the figure you have. p.p.s I fully expect a bollocking. p.p.p.s. from Cat and the others..... p.p.p.p.s, Vodka is nice.
