1. On our local news last night they tried to suggest that North Korea would send one of those nukes our way Scaremongering at its finest!
2. Sweet, I'm rich, I'll be able to feed my family for 3 years. I know that semester of German classes would pay off eventually.
3. Two words: Tim Cahill 156529 No doubt he's a twat but he scored those two goals against Japan so I'll love him forever.
4. I'm over it tbh. I'm proud of the fact we gave it our all and left with our dignity intact, which is more then can be said about Italy, Portugal and to a lesser extent France. Anyway knowing the socceroos we probably would have lost to Ukraine.
5. I was having an argument this morning with a mate while watching Germany - Italy. He is adament that the German national anthem is the verse started with "Deutschland, Deutschland uber alles". Quite a few years ago I studied German at uni, and I'm sure the above anthem was sung by the Nazis. I vaguely remember that the national anthem is in fact "Eingkeit und recht und freiheit" which, if I remember right, translates to unity and law and freedom. Knowing there are Germans on this site I figured I would get the answer quickly. There is money riding on this. As an aside, if you know someone who is stupid, bet with them. Easy money. Disclaimer: If I'm wrong, I'm not stupid.
6. I can see what you mean, but I don't think the two accents are that similar. The mainstream South African accent is much faster and has a german twang to it. It was enough of a difference to be noticeable. Though you're right, Geordie to Jamaican is about a big a shift as you can get. And Aussie kids are already talking in American accents, so over the next 50 years expect that to blend
7. By the way, is it just me or did Ballack do absolutely nothing? As a matter of fact he's done nothing in this World Cup. Vastly overrated tbh.
8. I think the germans were comfortable to sit back and wait for penalties and that's what cost them in the end. Italy had some major holes in their defence in extra time and a more ruthless team would have made them pay.
9. Same thing happened to my late great grandmother. She suddenly had a South African accent. Though she didn't talk much after her stroke.
10. Cheating bastards shouldn't even be there. Be interesting if Portugal win tomorrow. The final will be a blight on football.
11. I don't mean to blow smoke up my country's arse, as it were, but all our penalties in the shootout against Uruguay last year were perfect. Except Viduka, but all in all honesty I expected him to miss anyway, because he's SHIT. Even more impressive was the fact that was Australia's first shootout since 1993, which we won also. We rule!
12. Yeah it's in the gold section. Some funny stuff.
13. Nah, bringing Carragher on was a masterstroke 155745 In comedy terms, yes it was
14. Mr Smooth. I hope 'come' isn't a euphanism
15. Why are AC Milan and Barcelona (and others ?) interested in Luca Neill ?! 155586 Because other than the dubious penalty (he shouldn't have gone to ground anyway) he had a sensational WC, him and Craig Moore really held the line.
16. Call me an arse if you want but if something like that happened to one of my mates I'd use it in a best man speech. Absolutely sensational.
17. Why did you have to dig this thread back up
18. I want Germany to beat Italy but France to win the WC. Although I would LOVE IT if Italy lost to a dodgy late goal in the final. Karma, bitches.
19. Read the rancid turd threads in the gold section. Certain laughs.
20. Rebound sex. It does work, you think about someone else, intentionally or not.
21. Exactly why girls should stick to ironing and cleaning tbh Ronaldo is a twat. He screwed over England yet I still can't like him. So he must really be a twat.
22. I think you'll be better in 4 years tbh
23. This has the potential to be one of those gay love-in threads tbh
24. Now I've seen the Rooney incident (we don't have TV here in Australia, we depend on newsreel) it was quite obviously delibrate. Though I believe he was frustrated because of... Sven. I said earlier in this thread, during the match, that Rooney by himself up front is about us useful as a chocolate teapot, or a eunuch in a brothel. It's not his natural position, he may be good but he's better at feeding a striker he is playing just behind, and picking off lay offs from said striker. Which is why Crouch should have started ahead of Lampard. Had this happened you would have won IMO. Portugal were ripe for the picking and their only threat came from the one trick pony, and he was shite. (And yes, we do have TV here. It's black and white and fairly fuzzy, but does the job)
