  1. Newcastle winger Nolberto Solano has urged Sam Allardyce not to employ his direct style of play at St James’ Park if he takes over as Glenn Roeder’s successor. The former Bolton manager is expected to be unveiled as the new manager in the next few days despite the reservations of many Magpies fans who are uninspired by the brand of football Allardyce created at the Reebok Stadium. And Solano shares their concerns. He told the Daily Star: “Sam Allardyce is a name that has gone around, although we don’t know anything officially. “Whoever comes, we as employees have to be available to do what he wants us to do. Bolton have a very direct style of play and it’s one of the most criticised systems in the Premier League. “Allardyce did good things there, but I don’t think that the Bolton style would suit here. “If he comes, I think he should change the style in order to suit the current Newcastle players. “The fans deserve to see better football than what they’ve seen at St James’ Park this year.”
  2. Nah. I reckon if Al did want it, he would want to do it properly. As in have all his badges sorted etc. I still reckon its Sam, and prob next wednesday.
  3. Its a double edged sword though aint it. Do you really want the club to suffer? I'll buy a new shirt when I get around to it over the summer, Ill renew my ticket not too long after I get the application (or might delay a week to be really daring ) me and no doubt thousands of others. Maybe its that blindness that the club/chairman know only too well. Im glad GR has gone, but equally hesitant to who might come in. Though the current trend suggests a half decent manager now. (One good followed by two shite). Im not elated, far from it. While Id acceopt Sam now (and would not have a while ago) its with reluctance. We aint that good anymore and it shouldnt take much to improve.
  4. 3 years ago he didnt want it, a year ago I doubt he was offered it. A year ago he had a go at GR being offered the post due to qualifications, maybe he did want it then but wasnt approached?
  5. Well, if he wanted to stay with Bolton and finish his work there, fair enough. A year ago, Im not so sure we approached him or anyone as we took the easy option. Im not the biggest fan of SA, but this isnt something Id loose sleep over if he came.
  6. Well, Im off to see Roger Waters, at the MEN Arena.
  7. Im not excited att he prospect of football under Fat Sam. But, when you think of the many other possibilities its pretty scary and his name would ocme out on top. I reckon that for us to get a manager we'd all be fairly happy with, we need to look to a forgeign manager. I wonder, what people want? Good football or successful football? Im greedy, I want both.
  8. No perhaps no ones officially told them? Like I say, I dont actually think they can (yet).
  9. I dont think he can be offially sacked until the stock market is told on Tuesday. Or at least an announcemtn cant be made. Thats not to say he's not packing his stuff now. Ive nowt against the bloke personally, done a good job for us at te end of last season but was out of his depth for me like.
  10. I'll never boo them, on or off the pitch. Not just the fact its something 7yr olds do and I find it really strange grown men shouting "BOOOO!" but I just dont see the point. What is it going to achieve? On te pitch is shocking, totally. When a player is getting subbed is also, how we expect them to improve when fans do that. The whole team was shite yesterday bar maybe Milner.
  11. Sadly it seems a fact. It was gutted for him reading this on sky this morning. Says that he cant have an op this time. I just hope the treatment can halt or slow its advance and that he cn carry on as normal.
  12. I will renew either way. Its a bit like self harm isnt it?
  13. He used to link up with Nobby on the right really well. (note one o fthe few good crosses today was from nobby behind te back line). But the point is, as we all know, if you have a gaping space on te wing, even without the ball you should exploit it. You pull a defender away or if you are left you are wide open and can get in behind them. The time Im thinking of, Dyer started on the right but hovered around the centre with no one out wide. My point though, is GR is shite
  14. Stop it (though Ive an awful sinking feeling you may be right)
  15. Erm Glen, are you not forgetting that if you add in those two you have to take two players out. Probably Martins and Sib, so you kinda loose their goals. Then judging by todays play, having Owen isnt going to change thing when those around him dont play to his strengths...
  16. You know something. Im sitting here reading various things and commments by GR from today game. Is this bloke seriously fucking demented? Was he at a different game today or what? Im really getting pissed off with his clueless comments. He seriously needs to open his fucking eyes.
  17. JawD JawD JawD JawD JawD The poster formerly known as JawD JawD JawD JawD Im my own clique tbf
  18. Its tha manager all over. When its clearly all going to shit in any game, do you see GR screaming at the side to put it right, or moving players around adjusting things? do you see second half performances to show the bollocking they have had at half time. Do you fuck. Everyone was having a go at dyer in the chelsea game for not exploiting the space down te right, when he was clearly under instruction (from GR) to come inside. Didn't even change at half time even though it was glaringly obvious.
  19. We played shite with an occassional flash of a decent move. Or have our standards really dropped that far?
  20. Aye forgot about that. what the fuck was that all about? bit like the blaydon races, I do think we should play it, but does it have to be that version? A Rum pum pum pum RRRUM pum pum pum....
  21. 1. Im not long back from the match 2. I'm off out for an Italian (Amici in forest hall) 3. Im off to see Roger Waters on Monday night at the MEN Arena 4. Should find out the sex of the bairn on tuesday 5. Im sure I used to fit into this shirt...
  22. I dont think Sam is the answer, however Id take him over GR.
  23. Just got back. What a pile of shite. Absolutely shocking (except Milner who had a canny game). Whats the point of waiting all season for Owen if we're going to play like that when he is on? No service for him (front two) at all. Meh, I cant be arsed to go into it. As for getting the playters to stay out, that was a bad idea as well. Very uncomfortable that was. I stayed as they walked the tiniest lap ever to a crucendo of booing. Once that died down, many inc. me giving half hearted claps to a few of the players like Butt, Emre, Milner & Taylor. Plenty of tickets thrown on te pitch (last game, whoopdeedo) and I did see a couple of shirts as well. Shite. He's got to go.
  24. Hugely over-rated as proven by Bill Bailey
