  1. Holy mackerel. I've never seen a side look so utterly defeated transform itself like that. Totally amazing. I still can't believe it.
  2. Unfortunate that neither he nor none of the staff ever worked for Olympique Lyon then.
  3. They've got plans for that though and the money to pull it off - they've got a team of coaches going around scouting out the 3rd world and offering promising kids and their families the chance to move to Qatar so by the time the world cup comes around they'll be able to play for them. Lols. Sorted.
  4. Ah come on. When does FIFA let something unimportant like rational thought get in their way?
  5. Twin Peaks Arrested Development Rescue Me I'm sure The Wire would be up there, but I didn't have HBO when it was on and haven't had a chance to check it out. Tons of honorable mentions, but for better or worse, those shows above are ones that I obsessed over for more than a little while. If LOST wouldn't have completely lost the plot the last two seasons, it would have been on there instead of Rescue Me.
  6. But... but... but... the air conditioned stadiums were going to take care of all that heat, right? What a complete and total load of shit this is.
  7. Agree, i thought he was the one weak link at the back. Rushed in possession, every clearance was a long ball where the others tried mostly to play it out. That's always been Taylor's game, he has pretty poor vision on the ball which thinking about it really would preclude him from being a decent fullback. Williamson is more or less the same. Coloccini loves to play it out, a little too much for this level where he can't outskill the opposition like he did in the Championship. I think williamson is tidier in possession to be fair to him. Taylor only just back from injury but im not sure why he's walked straight back into the side. We have looked tightest at the back so far this season if you ask me when the back four has been: Simpson Williamson Collocini Enrique Yeah but can he do the block it with yer arm and pretend it hit your chest trick? Lol- I liked on the replay that he immediately grabbed his side and winced. I mean, at least Tiote really did get poked in the eye!

Great result for NUFC despite what some may think. I thought they showed a lot of heart today in their play. Well, most of them at least. Sorely missing in 08/09. We'd have lost this match for sure then.
  9. I have the same thing with my live account (that I only use for one PC game- I have no xbox). It thinks I'm from Luxemborg? Seriously.
  10. Kinda surprised that this thread, based on the title, wasn't started by Tooner. Eh.
  11. Do you listen to puck nuts? http://smodcast.com/pucknuts/ I don't, actually, but I'll check it out if it has your endorsement! I've not listened to it but they're all on the Tell em Steve Dave podcast which is the funniest podcast I've heard......think they concentrate on the Devils in pick nuts. Oh God- they must be ready to kill themselves then! (The Devs signed arguably the most talented unrestricted free agent ever last summer and it's completely blown up in their faces. They have 9 wins and 24 losses currently.) So is that a View Askew deal then?
  12. Yeah, the weekly email never has triggered for me. I get them for IKTS, so that helps remind me.
  13. I thought, "Oh fuck!", just a couple of weeks ago at work. One of our conveyance racks had come back from "the customer" tagged to be taken out of service for a bad tray stopper arm. One of the maintenance guys got to it before I did, so when my boss came back to ask me if I'd had a look at it yet, I said, "No- Kevin already fixed it." Well, my boss gets to checking around on it and finds that it's not really been fixed, so he removes the replacement stopper arm and bolt that affixes it to the rack (I have no idea how much the racks weigh, but the trays that get held in by these stopper arms weigh somewhere around 400 pounds or so- I know you can barely budge one off the floor if one ends up there- more on why I'm telling you this in a bit). I get a phone call and have to walk away from the maintenance repair area (and this rack), and when I come back, one of the forktruck drivers is about to put it back into our conveyor. I'm all, "No, no, no!" put it in the maintenance area- it's bad!" He responds that Kevin told him to put it back in, I tell him I know, but that it's not fixed after all and we need to re-weld some shit on it. Our maintenance repair area is fairly small. and when we have to work on one of these racks, it takes up about half of the area, so I'm in front of the truck/ rack trying to guide him in so he doesn't smash our parts cabinets or anything. Finally, he's in far enough that he's free to set te rack down, but unbeknownst to either of us, he's managed to hook an overhead light with the rack he's carrying. He tips his forks forward to set the rack down and the light rips free from the brace it's hung on, which naturally draws my eye to it INSTEAD of the 400 pound conveyance tray that's now hurtling directly towards my face at an alarming rate. I saw it out of the corner of my eye about eight inches away from my head and managed with the help of adrenaline, to catch it and hold it one-handed until the driver could set the rack down. Textbook example of how people get their shit ruined at work, man. Four or five unusual things happening at once, nine of which were particularly unsafe, but added together... well, nearly resulted in me having one hell of a bad day.
  14. This sounds like the set-up for a joke, but it really isn't- what's the difference between a newspaper doing investigative journalism and Wikileaks? Seriously? What's the difference between Julian Assange and Woodward and Bernstein? Does he pay for information or something? I honestly don't see the difference.
  15. The new V was shit. Waaaaay too much shitty bluescreen. Can't anyone build sets anymore?
  16. So, not to make like I was tearing it up before hand, but all these postponed games are really fucking me in the ass.
  17. Current: As much as I love Messi, I gotta keep it real and represent, so I have to go with Clint Dempsey. Retired: Brian McBride of course.

  19. I know that many of you don't care for Yank sports, let alone hockey, but HBO's 24/7: Penguins/ Capitals is probably the best sports documentary series I've ever seen. Realizing that I'm a big hockey fan and that I'm probably somewhat biased, I'm tellin' ya, the first two episodes have been brilliant. Sure, it's got a lot of what you'd expect from a series that sells itself as a behind-the-scenes, all-access type of show- the coach cursing out the players in the locker room, various shenanigans, the grind of the schedule, etc., but what surprised even me, an NHL fan for 20 years now, was just how desensitized to pain and violence the players are. I know, it sounds kinda obvious talking about hockey players, and they're not total robots- they do get pissed off and fight at times, but a lot of the time, it's just part of the job. It's no different than me coming back into the plant when the computers go down- it's just what you do to help out your co-workers. The funny thing, is whoever the guy is on the other end of the fight feels the same way. Case in point, Caps star Alex Ovechkin and the New York Rangers' Brandon Dubinsky get into a decently serious fight in the first episode of the show. They go at it pretty good (for two guys who aren't really known for their fighting ability) for 30-45 seconds (pretty much average hockey fight), then as they both hit the ice, through the HBO parabolic mics, you hear both players say simultaneously, "Good job, buddy", as they skate off to their respective penalty boxes. Or when the Penguins defensive corps is firing each other up down in the tunnel before a game by hitting each other in the chest and arms with their sticks. These guys are just so used to living with pain over the course of an 82 game season, a few whacks (plenty hard enough to leave bruises or break skin on mere mortals like us) to fire each other up is just part of it- no different than me handing a co-worker a screwdriver or holding the flashlight so they can see what they're working on. Absolutely fascinating and not at all what I thought the series would turn out to be. Absolutely dejected there'll only be a few more episodes- it's all basically a lead up to the Penguins v Capitals Winter Classic- the NHL's outdoor game played on New Year's Day. Good stuff. If you dig the sports mentality, the mindset of a professional athlete, and that kind of thing, hockey or not, check it out. I bet you won't be sorry.
  20. Football Club United of Newcastle. It's the only real answer to the "What can we do to Ashley?" question.
  21. Heard she likes it in the stink. Anybody else just remember the sex scene from American Me after reading that?
  22. Blackpool's goalie played out of his mind. I have no excuse for the Stoke match though.
