Steve McClaren sacked as Newcastle United 'Head Coach' (Manager)
Noelie replied to Tooj's topic in Newcastle Forum
Brolly-boy's replacement is waiting for the call. McClaren was hired after getting fired by Derby and now they've fired another one so we should hire him. We have an affinity for rejects. -
After the very good showing and win against West Brom, followed by the abysmal showing and thrashing at Chelsea, I can't help but feel we will go down as we have a lousy record in must-win games, and it would appear there are a number of so-called must-win games in front of us. I will be surprised if we stay up, but if we do I will be extremely happy. I'm not Catholic but I would gladly light candles. My problem is that I get to see all the Newcastle premier league games here in Southern California but if we go down that will come to an end as it's geared to the Premier League teams. I'm often surprised when I see a game is not being televised in the UK yet we see it over here. If the Newcastle match was NOT available to me on my TV programming I could always watch it live on my computer. Now I have bought an Apple gizmo for $160. which allows me to see the streams on my TV(which by the way is 65 inch). We have a Latino channel here 'Bein' which shows some Championship games with English commentaries but you can bet they won't show Newcastle every week. And you don't know what next season may bring by way of contractual agreements. This 'Bein' channel shows a variety of sports, mostly football, but believe it or not I watched the Newcastle Falcons beat Leicester on Friday evening.

I fully expected to see Colback start at left-back, or even try Saivet, but not Aarons for 90 minutes!! Midfielder Tiote off and centre-back Lascelles on? I would have thought midfielder Saivet would have been the better option. From what I saw of Doumbia I wasn't impressed by his work-rate, I would have expected to see him full of vigour trying to save the game even with little or no service. Perez might have been a better option. Gino was an anonymous non entity, I wouldn't want him in the trenches with me if I was surrounded by hostiles. Weak passes, bad passes, lack of possession, bad or little marking, giving the ball away too easy, and too often was our disaster. McClaren the brolly-boy has got to go!! We have some talented players but he doesn't appear to be able to mould them into a capable consistent team. An expected loss today didn't necessarily put us back in the bottom 3, but 5 fucking goals to 1 certainly did.

In 2001 the Law was amended to clarify and confirm that the age of consent was 16 (only a person aged 18 or older can be punished for having sex with a 14 - 15 year old) Well puts a 28 year old up the creek wi nee paddle. Whoopee, that means nee bugger will be coming after me for dipping my wick with a 15 year old way back when(musta bin aboot 1950)

I guess on occasion I'm a bit of a devil's advocate, but the Chronicle is saying; "sexual activity with a child" Now I want to know at what age does a child stop being a child? 13 - 14 - 15 - 16 - 17 - 18 - 19 are called teenagers. Again, at what age do you stop being a child? In my day, 14 & 15 were normal school leaving ages when you left and went to work 44 hours a week if you found a job. At 15-1/4 you could join the Royal Navy as a Boy Seaman. I know cos I was gonna do it but parents had to OK it and mine didn't. Did you know that 2 winners of the Victoria Cross weren't even 16 years of age. I in no way condone Johnson and what he did, I just have a problem with the "child" bit. Teenager, young girl, young woman, when does the child bit kick in or exit?
-
Now I'm not defending him, no sir, but I remember when I dipped my wick for the first time she was 15 going on 16, had left school and was working at the Co-op offices in Gateshead. I was 17 and an apprentice at 'Clarkies'. Mind you we had been dating for a while and it seemed all me mates were dipping their wicks too with their bynts. Shop doorways and back-lanes were the most used wick-dipping places. Perhaps his age difference and celebrity status has more to do with it than anything, she was obviously willing and didn't say no..

I read where there's doubts about Janmaat, I hope it's not true. Have me doubts about Aarons at left-back but Dummett might be available. If everyone shows up and they play like they did against the Brummies we might just come away with summat.

Steve McClaren sacked as Newcastle United 'Head Coach' (Manager)
Noelie replied to Tooj's topic in Newcastle Forum
Yes we beat West Brom, a shit team on the day, in a convincing manner, but as usual I have a critique to make about McClaren's team selection. I don't question his starting line-up with the exception of Aarons. Granted Aarons had a somewhat decent game at left-back but I would have thought that the obvious choice would have been to try Saivet there for openers. He is a left sided player, defensive midfielder?, has played left wing in his career. And from what little we have seen of him he can certainly tackle well. I recall Aarons tackle in the Everton match ... P-E-N-A-L-T-Y. -
Can't believe it was only 1 - 0 after all the shots and chances we had. I have always liked Taylor, still do, he put in a good shift. Tiote did surprisingly well, trying to head the ball when he's on the ground reminds me of ME. Aaron was obviously out of position but he didn't do too badly. All in all, there wasn't anyone who had a bad game and it should have been 4 or 5 nowt. Mind you I was a little nervous in the last few minutes thinking we were going to blow the win and we very nearly did. Well, we didn't get to see our new life-saving striker Doumbia.

Steve McClaren sacked as Newcastle United 'Head Coach' (Manager)
Noelie replied to Tooj's topic in Newcastle Forum
I had real misgivings about McClaren when he was hired after been sacked by a lower tier club for not getting results, and now my fears have blossomed into nearing panic. There is no question about us having some talented players in the squad, and with the 4 additional players being added, 2 of them capped for England, we should have seen a better performance against Everton rather than the dismal showing we were subjected to. I think any manager with any sense or balls would have pulled Sissoko off as he was absolute rubbish, accomplishing nothing. Granted the all players were at fault for under-performing other than Elliot and perhaps Saivet, but the majority of blame rests on McClaren's head. Who in their right mind would play lightweight Perez as a lone striker against their big defenders, especially as a lone striker has never worked for us anyway. What did he hope to accomplish by putting Aaron's in at left-back. Why did he choose to play the in-experienced Lascell's ahead of Taylor. If we lose to West Brom on Saturday I think McClaren should be fired on the spot. Never mind about a replacement, his assistant can be the caretaker which is what usually happens in dire situations. My starting line-up would have been; Elliot Janmaat Mbemba Colo Dummmett Shelvey Sissoko Gini Townsend Perez Mitrovic Taylor would have replaced Mbemba and Saivet would have replaced Dummett. Aaron could have replaced Sissoko, playing on the left with Townsend switching to the right. -
New signings, lots of hype. Nothing new, load of tripe. Credit to Elliot for keeping the score down, he couldn't help the penalties. No credit to Brolly-boy for taking off Saivet who was performing better than anyone except Elliot. On second thoughts, not tripe. Just another load of pure shite.

If we can now climb the table and avoid relegation with what we've now got, it might be just as well we didn't fork out boocooh money to West Brom. Who knows we might get him in the summer for a lot less, and maybe we might not need him if Mitrovic, Cisse, Perez, Riviere, and this new bloke on loan turns out to be a good one and we keep him, start finding the net and putting away the chances we create. And with Gini, JonJo, Sissoko, Townsend, Saivet, Colback on board there should be lots of chances made.
-
C'mon man, for fucks sake, we've got Cisse, Riviere, Mitrivic, bona fide strikers! What do we need another striker for? All we have to do is get them to fucking score on a regular basis(especially Riviere) Gini, Perez, Sissoko, Shelvey, are capable of scoring. The addition of Townsend + Shelvey might incite(ignite) the Bryant & May/Swan Vestas we have in the box.
-
I just hope there is a Plan-B or Plan-C to get a bona-fide striker in before the window closes and be ready for Everton as I can't see Berahino crossing the line. Not fussy about Townsend as he's a winger, and putting crosses over for Mitrovic at the minute is like Hail Mary situations.

McClaren is spouting rubbish like other puppeteers we've had. How in the world can he spout we were tremendous after losing to Watford .....again!! When he spouted we controlled the game he must have had a few Broons' at halftime. The loss can be attributed to the lack of our scoring, lack of a functioning striker who can score, and the lack of a manager who can't see beyond the end of his nose. Starting with 3 central defenders, dropping Perez, bringing Gouffran in, was sheer stupididy. Seems to me there must be someone playing left-back for the reserves who could have maybe been worth a try at filling in for Dummett,, Mbabu,, and Haidara, rather than change the formation the way he did. In retrospect, with Taylor being on the bench therefore being somewhat fit, McClaren could have started him at left back for openers. Out of position of course but what's new about that? Starting team could have been; Elliot Janmaat Mbemba Colo Taylor Shelvey Saivet Sissoko Gini Perez Mitrovic
-
Wijnaldum was nowhere near as good as he was last week, perhaps position played a part. Sissoko is a force to be reckoned with but he keeps losing the ball one way or another in his surges. Mitrovic is not only NOT living up to expectations, he's getting worse. Mbemba was struggling a bit, probably because he was out of his normal position on the right,, and playing in a back three. Colo was mint again but you could see his frustration growing. Elliot did well and kept the score down, could have been a bigger defeat. Shelvey wasn't so good as last week but maybe he didn't have the ball often enough. Janmaat had a decent game. Saivet, not sure about his worth, but maybe not in the right position. Aarons, was surprised to see him starting and Perez not.
-
We got exactly what we deserved ........NOWT. Brilliant stroke of genius ........drop Perez. We were out-played, out-scored, out-fought, out-everything. Mitrovic was useless and I can't believe Brolly-boy didn't yank him at halftime and put Perez on. When I saw McClaren's starting line-up I had misgivings which materialized. The future is fucking bleak.
-
Thing is.........is he worth a big spend? He is not playing much for Spurs which can only mean he's not rated as better or as good as any of the starters. He might be useful to us as a winger but is he worth breaking the bank for. I wouldn't mind having him but wouldn't want to spend silly money on him.
-
Thing is.......he obviously has an attitude problem and would you want to pay really big money for a problem child?
-
Am I the only one who feels like we're a yo-yo on a short piece of string?
-
Ye knaa, mebbe we've already got the striker we need in the house...........RIVIERE!! He was on the bench today, which tells me he must be looking alright in practice, and may have been given a run-out. I know he hasn't done too well in the past in regards to scoring goals, but let's face it, Mitrovic isn't setting the house on fire either in that department. Riviere was bought for a purpose he didn't fulfill inn any way, but maybe he can pull a Jesus act and resurrect himself. He could possibly turn out to be a good striker in the company of the players we have now providing him service. Let's face it, Mitrovic held the ball up really well today but he couldn't stick one away despite all the service he got, and he got a lot.
