The thoughts of others, were light and fleeting, Of lovers meeting, or luck, or fame. But mine were of trouble, and mine were steady, And I was ready when the trouble came. I'm ready for the relegation battle with Carver in command. Strike up the band.

I've never given it much thought but it has always made me smile to hear how so many people are addicted to watching the soap-operas on TV, especially the women. Not funny though as I seem to be addicted to the biggest soap-opera of all times, and that's the long playing saga of Newcastle United Football Club. It's like waiting with bated breath to find out what's happening next as the plot thickens. It's like waiting to see who killed what's his face on Dallas.

I'm thinking of manufacturing Ashley Voodoo Dolls complete with needles & pins. I would expect to get a good return on my investment.

Cardew/Pardew same-o same-o. Gouffran should NOT have started but he did thanks to Cardew. Gouffran should have been taken off at half-time but he wasn't, thanks to Cardew. Gouffran got injured and had to be taken off, not a tactical move by Cardew. Willo on when we're chasing the game, brilliant tactical move by Cardew. Why didn't Cardew make use of Santon and Abeit, they were on the bench available. Why didn't Cardew start Sammy ahead of Gouffran. We could have won that game had a more knowledgeable person been in charge. There were good scoring chances we missed.

Because there is no news flying about in regards to potential targets and we're already 2 weeks into the January window, I can't help but think that perhaps we aren't going to add anyone, and that the return of DeJong, Abeid, Santon, Aarons, perhaps even Jonas will be considered enough to strengthen the squad to maintain a position in the top 10. I would be really disappointed, but not surprised, if we didn't sign anyone in this window.
-
I'll reserve my final judgment on Cardew until I see his starting line-up against Southampton. If he starts Willo then it's get rid. He should start Dummett in the middle with Santon or Haidara on the left. If he doesn't start Cabella then it's get rid.

Was once Britain's major docking place for the big passenger liners. Didn't Shearer start there and didn't Keegan play there on his return from Hamburg.

If Stoke wins or draws and we lose at the weekend we will slip out of the top half. Surely that will bode ill for Cardew if we don't stay in the top 10. I can't fault him for dropping 3 points against Chelsea but can certainly fault him for dropping 2 against Burnley. Cardew doesn't impress me as man who can take the bull by the horns and think for himself. His starting line-up against Burnley was almost exactly what Pardew would have fielded. Credit to him for starting Cabella against Chelsea but no credit for playing Willo when he could have played Dummett in his place with Haidara and Santon sitting on the bench. I'd like to see someone other than Cardew in charge.

Interesting to see that Jakshit wasn't on the bench. Is he injured or just dropped in favour of Woody? It was good to see Krul back, instills a little more confidence. Anita is not a good replacement for Tiote or Abeid but I guess he's the best we've got at the moment. Other than starting Cabella, Carver did exactly what Pardew would have done. Gouffran was almost anonymous and should have been taken off earlier(actually he shouldn't have started) Just like Pardew, Carver doesn't seem to recognize that Willo is a weakness in the back four and won't get any better than he is now.

I nearly put Carvew Tom.

Fully expected result, but not our performance in the first half which was very good and it was too bad we didn't score from the chances we had, and worse that we gifted them a goal. Didn't play too bad in the second half either but Chelsea became stronger. With Santon, Haidara, and Sammy on the bench Willo and Gouffran should have been erased from the equation from the get-go. Typical Cardew line-up other than Cabella who for all the mistakes he made had a decent game and proved he could be an asset to our team given the playing time.
-
Fine tune my idea; ....................... .....Krul. ...Janmaat - Colo - Dummett - Haidara. ...Cabella - Sissoko - Colback - Guiterrez. ......................Perez - Riviere.
-
My concern is, of course, what nonsensical line-up will Carvew put before us. Starting Willo could prove to be a real Hazard at the back.

I think I mentioned this before. If a Newcastle match was not on TV I used to watch streams on something called "FirstRowSports". It's still available to me but I don't know if it's available in the UK. It's free but not always great. I don't use it now unless I'm desperate as if the game is not on TV it is available on "NBC Sports Live Extra" on my computer but I know that is only available in the USA, and it's free.

I have it on good authority that there is a prime applicant residing in Whitley Bay and at the moment is unemployed. He has shown strong a attitude for discipline making his winning aspirations quite clear to the crowds. Judy will welcome a break from his macho-man persona. He has no strings attached and is handled well by any manipulator such as Ashley.
-
Clementyne has certainly got plenty of coaching experience and his latest job certainly can't be a defensive minded one. Something tells me only money would attract him to us as I'm sure he has a bright future ahead.

I think Ashley is getting undue criticism about Cup games. He is a business-man first and foremost and in saying that, his interest among other things will be bums on seats, bums on seats provide income so I can't see Ashley not wanting more than just league games to fill the seats and his coffers. I also think that Ashley has nothing to do with team selection, especially today. I'm inclined to think Carver decided to rest some players prior to our next match, and because of Leicester's lowly position thought he could win with a weakened team. Stupid sod. When you consider Pardew's continuing dodgy starting line-ups and abysmal substitutions now followed by Carver in the same way, I don't think you can fault Ashley for that but blame him for everything he's fucked-up.
-
I'm interested in what kind of a shift did Cabella put in. Guess I'll have to wait until someone who was there posts. Carver doing great so far, 1 draw, 1 loss to basement teams. Unfortunately I watched the Gatesheed v Brommies........sad.

When Saylor had to come off, Carver should have put Dummett inside and brought Haidara on in his place at left back. It's not rocket science is it. Putting Willo in was a classic Pardewism. I was prepared to give Carver leeway but the non-use of Cabella makes him clueless in my opinion. Burnley was the right team to play Cabella against from the kick-off, and failing that start the second half with him.

I've seen games thrown away before but this has to be the worst. It seemed like the starting eleven never came out for the second half. Tiote was a liability. On that second half display it wouldn't have surprised me if we had lost, and we very nearly did. Carver seems to hold Cabella in the same mode Pardew did. On the first half display it should have been a cake-walk. Despite his goal, Sissoko was far from his best. And I'll say it again, Jak-shit.

Where's Dennis Wise these days, working, unemployed? Surely he's a likely puppet to fit Ashley's needs.
