Let's face it lads, it was a stroke of genius to start Riviere instead of Perez, only Pardew could have topped that master plan. It was a mind-boggling ploy that had Villas defense in a turmoil until he was taken off. Mind you, I think it would have been more genius related if had put Jonas on instead of Goofy.

It wouldn't have surprised me one bit if they had scored in stoppage time, throughout the match they looked as they were going to score and if it hadn't been for Krul and some desperate tackles they would have. Carver is clueless, can't believe he started Riviere and compounded that by leaving him on so long. Sissoko is off the boil and didn't give them much trouble at any time. Colo was better today. I'll say it again, Carver is clueless, I believe he was going to put Jonas on without realizing he'd already used up his subs and the 4th official put him right. Perez should have started and failing that should have been put on at half-time Obertan............................... for heaven's sake..............oops, I meant for fuck's sake.

Carver's choice of starters is once again diabolical. Riviere ahead of Perez is mind boggling. We don't deserve to be in the lead and haven't hardly threatened their goal while our defencse and Krul have been under pressure. Ameobi, Riviere and Obertan are adding nothing to this game.

Say what you like about Jonas, his final touch was often very poor, but he was always lively and kept the defense on their toes.
-
Am I right in remembering that Jonas played full-back for Argentina in a World Cup match?
-
With Sammy on the bench he must have been fit enough to play so WHY didn't Carver use him at some point in the match. In fact why didn't he start him instead of Gouffran.
-
Carver should consider playing 3 at the back officially, we're doing that anyway with Willo out there. Carver should consider playing 5 across the middle with the squad we've got. Carver should consider playing 2 up front and not in the wrong position. Carver should be scripting his resignation letter now so he can leave on his own terms. As for the match today...........SHITE!!

Penalty was absolutely Willo's fault. In that situation, after beating the City man, he should never have passed the ball to Anita, he should have played the ball up field.

I see Santon played another 90 minutes in the draw with Celtic. It cements the fact that from top to bottom Newcastle's staff from owner to can-lad haven't a fucking clue.
-
Loan/transfer out Santoni plays 90 minutes in a 4 - 1 win. Mbiwa & Santon seem to be the best loan/transfer deals we ever made, but unfortunately not in our favour.

One point is more than we deserved, it was pitiful to watch from the kickoff. Our only highlight was the goal by Cisse who was useless most of the time he was on. Perez was out of position and was useless kept losing the ball and accomplished nothing. Sissoko had his worst game by far, no surging runs, piss-poor passing, and accomplished little. Willo what can I say, he goes from bad to worse, he's a handicap at the back and does nowt when he goes up. Cabella was disappointing, took steps backwards in his forward progress. Palace are not a good team but on the day they were a lot better than us. I got a headache watching that match but at best, or worst, we didn't lose. Well done Cardew one win to your credit. Pardew's got four.

He's got pleural injuries like. i know you can function on one kidney, one heart, one brain, one bollock, can't you function on one lung. FFS.

Carver's is worse than Pardew for the drivel he spouts. According to an article in the Chronicle he is touting Pardew to be England manager.FFS.

On Carver. I said this would be a must win for Carver to enhance his credentials. Perhaps I'm naïve, and not too well versed in football after about 75 years of connection to the sport(not counting my first 7 years), but how can Carver not recognize that Williamson does not belong in the starting line-up. Why can't he see that Dummett will probably do better in the middle than he does at left back, and Haidara's the better of the two anyway. Why did he take Cabella off when he was having a decent game? Why did he put Obertan in when he's always seemed to favour Gouffran? Maybe he should have started with 2 strikers instead of finishing with 2. Carver lists his association with Sir Bobby Robson, but I can't see he learned much from that association. If he loses to Pardew/Palace I'll be only too happy to join in a "Carver OUT" refrain. I know, I know, I'm angry, frustrated, and just pissed off.

Obertan & Perez blew it, should have had 2 certain goals. Willo continues to be a second level defender. Colo had a good game. Sissoko had a disappointing game. Cabella continues to improve. Carver should have started Abeid instead of Anita. That should have been a certain 3 points. Didn't seem to be enough urgency.
-
2 up front Mr. Fish. ....................Krul Janmaat - Colo - Dummett - Haidara Cabella - Abeid - Colback - Ameobe .................Perez - Cisse
-
I think the Stoke match is a must home win for Carver if he is to establish some sort of credibility about his worth as head coach. One win since Pardew left has not really enhanced his credentials to any great degree but it is a start in the right direction albeit against a bottom 3 struggling team. If Dummett is fit and ready to go I would like to think Carver will put him in the middle with Colo and drop Willo to the bench. I would like to see him start 2 strikers, this lone striker doesn't work for us as we don't have anyone capable of playing that position the way it needs to be played.

Some consolation in Sissoko not leaving.......................in this January window!!
-
The great folly in this is because we have no back-up for Janmaat, Santon would have provided that. This move has to be about money, what else could it be?
-
Anyone taking bets on Sissoko & Santon not being around for next weeks match? Gossip makes it sound likely.
-
A win is always a great result no matter who against. I thought Perez had a somewhat poor game today. Credit to Gouffran for the goal but it was a deflection. Great strike from Sammy but he didn't seem to be his usual scourge of the defense. Brilliant goal from Cabella, I was surprised Carver took him off as he was having a good game. I think Janmaat is proving to be better than Debuchy at going forward and his balls in have merit. Wish we had someone to replace Willo. We had a lot of luck today in keeping the ball out of our net.

What puzzles me about Chucky is that if you check his goal scoring history before he came to us on loan, it's not that bad considering. So why has he been such a non-entity since he arrived? Is he that bad in even practice?
-
This is one match I would stay away from just in case. Losing to Pardew and Palace would be worse than losing to Blunderland. And you know Pardew will want to stuff us.
