Prior to coming 'home' for a visit I used to write to people at St. James hoping to get help in assuring I got tickets to see the games while I was 'home'. KK, Pedro, Sir Bob, and others. Always got replies but they were obviously from secretary types saying sorry, and advising me to get in touch with the ticket office. Wrote to Steve Watson once. There was a photo and article in our local newspaper mentioning him. I thought he might like it for his scrapbook seeing as how it was in an California newspaper so I sent it to him with a short note. Never got a reply.

IMO. Krul was very good and saved our arse on more than one occasion. Wilson (oops Simpson) was poor, we need a better right back. Williamson not on long enough to assess. Saylor was OK but can be Bramblesque on occasion. Colo was muy bien. Cabaye is formidable, I think we have a winner in him. Marveau looked rusty he may turn out to be a good one after some playing time. Gosling didn't shine like the star he's supposed to be. Lovenkrad, he was there, wasn't he? Ba humbug. Best be forgotten.

Yes we did, but not in a convincing way, it wasn't too enjoyable to watch and I could have done without the extra 30 minutes. I have serious doubts about Pardieu's capabilities as a manager in utilizing the players he has available in house for a cup game. WHY did he not give Ferguson a run out? Ferguson is a left-sided player yet he chose to go with out of position Raylor who has scored a couple of goals from set pieces but has not shown any indication of being a capable left back. Is this an omen that Pardieu is not looking for a left back?

Aye an' the other team's striped shirts looked better than ours do IMO.

Pardew: Our transfer policy is NO different to Man Uniteds
Noelie replied to Deano 's topic in Newcastle Forum
Not exactly true, Pardoo will have his say on who he wants or who he would like to strengthen after assesment of a player either by himself or his assistants. Then it's up to Ashley & Lambyarse to down-negotiate the financial end of it and that is where the problem lies. They will not spend big nor will they pay big wages. However they will bring new players in if the price suits their business plans not any football plans. -
Barton's best position eh? ...........cell block 13.
-
Be nice Alex, after all he is a Geordie, misplaced perhaps, misguided maybe, mental possiblyy, but nevertheless a Geordie so we should be nice to the losers.
-
No, but listening to Pardoo gave me the impression that here was the excuse if we don't sign a left-back.
-
Let's be honest, Blunderland controled a lot of the game and had more possesion than we did, for me it was a nail-biter and I'm so happy now it's over as I had grave doubts about the outcome.
-
Depends wot state yer in bonny lad. Noon kick-off in Blunderland is 4 o'clock in the fucking morning in California.

I was worried and concerned when I saw Pardoo was starting Raylor at left back, I thought if Walcott starts on the right Raylor would be chasing shadows. Thankfully Walcott didn't start. I thought Raylor was out of his depth and played poorly. I thought 'Wilson', ok ok Simpson, wasn't much better. Pretty solid in the middle with Saylor and Colo. Thought Cabaye was alright and I think he will get better if the midfield gels. Tiote was worse than his usual best and predictably got a yellow. Barton put in a good shift, was glad he started but his temper could have got him a red. What can I say about Strooler? Nowt. Hard to tell about Bah, he didn't get good service. I didn't think Jonas was contributing much at all in the first half he's the one I would have replaced with Obertan. Have to question Pardoo's substitutions. I think I would have played Gosling before Lovenkrands. -
2 fucking hopes, nae and bob its clear to say we lack ambition when we buy six risky players to replace 6 or more that were definite first teamers. Who are the 6 risky buys Mr. Peasepud? And who are the 6 or more definite first teamers the risky buys were to replace?
-
If he passes the medical, agrees to personal terms,, and he's gone forever, I'll be sad but glad, Sad that we're losing another of our best players, glad that all the speculation and rumours revolving around him are at an end. Credit to him for staying after relegation, credit to him for his stalwart performences, but after 6 new players already signed so far, maybe he shouldn't have been so quick to say we lacked ambition. My hope now is that we finish above Liverpool this season.

So glad he lost his first league game in charge of West Ham, at home too. 5 in the middle, wot a diddle.

Tiote not playing vs Arsenal + doubtful for derby
Noelie replied to Lake Bells tits's topic in Newcastle Forum
Maybe I'm getting too old, too decrepit, in early stage of dementia, to unnderstand the problem with Tiote's visa. Could some bright lad clue me in? (1) He was playing in England so surely had the right to do that via work visa or summat.. (2) He left the UK with an okayed visa to play in the US. Didn't he? (3) He did not returnn to the UK with the rest of the team. WHY? (4) He flew direct to Ghana from the US. WHY. -
So if this Obertan signing is for real will that bring Alain Pardieu's frogmarch to six? Ahec le Toon le Toon.
-
To put him on a free-transfer list would indicate that perhaps Barton's twittering has had more effect on the board than Enrique's twittering.
-
Carroll. Nolan. Rutledge. Enrique. Barton. Whosnext.

I think there is more to Nolan's departure than meets the eye. Granted he has a longer contract than he would have got with us. Is he on the same wage scale or better, or taken a cut to cement the longer contract? But dropping down a level is not what a premier league player normaly wants to do. To me, his departure reeks of contact with his former boss at Bolton, his former boss at Newcastle, and now his current boss at West Ham, SAM ALLARDYCE.

How about David Goodwillie as our No.9. He's small but so was wee Hughie Gallagher. He's got baggage but we're known to sign players with baggage. He's young and that fits the Board's program. Get him for about 2 Mill and it might be worth a risk. Don't know what wages he is on. Don't know if he's any good but he can't be worse than Stroller. He's been capped for Scotland at most age levels and senior so he can't be altogether shite. He's been advised to play in England, probably on account of his baggage. He's white, and we need to keep a mix so we we are Black & White. OK so I'm getting senile.................feel right at home on this forum.

Upon reflection, if the money brought in by the sale of Carroll & Nolan is not fully spent on the purchase of new players, what does it matter if the team is made stronger anyway by any wheeling and dealing done by those in charge. If the management bring in a decent striker and left-back in addition to Cabayo, Bah, Marvoo, & Albeit, then I will be moderately satisfied if all the money isn't spent. If in fact we do get a striker & defender in addition to those already brought aboard, some of Enrique's comments about Newcastle will become paper thin and sound like sour grapes.
-
I find it quite puzzling; (1) If Pardoo says there is an excellent contract offer on the table for Enrique why is there no negative, affirmative or maybe, response from Enrique's side ot the table. (2) If Enrique really wants away from Newcastle, a scenario put forth by gossipers and typical newspaper fable & fairy-tale seekers, then why doesn't Enrique ask for a transfer or make a public statement to the Press and set the record straight for us fans. (3) Why is there no mention of any bid or any real interest, from any Club, only paper-talk with no foundation. (4) Would the Board stalemate his leaving before the season starts by putting too big a price on his head, then sell him in the January window for the best offer rather than let him walk away on a free. (5) Given that Enrique may have been disappointed at the sale of Carroll & Nolan, surely it must have given him a lift to see the signing of the 3 French players and the return to action of BenArfa & Gosling which should indicate a step in the right direction.
