    Demba Ba

Reading up on Baa, I was surprised to see he had spent some time at Watford, had a fractured tibia & fibia at one time, failed a medical on a proposed move to Stutgart, and failed a medical on a proposed move to Stoke. Born in France but has played 10 games for Senegal. I wonder if that's because of family connections or realization that he would never make the French national team. A bit like Stroller now wanting to play for Nigeria.
  2. I tend to think that at his age and salary level he might only be looking for an extended contract to carry him to retirement, and of course Ashley would see that as money being spent over a long period.
  3. Get someone you're confident will be around long term, not someone who might be away this summer.
  4. Eeeeh, another falsehood LeazesMag, you posted again after posting the above statement. And no doubt you will post again trying to cover your terminological inexactitudes, determined to have the last word in your inimitable pedantic style. .
  5. Correct me if I am mistaken LeazesMag, but haven't you already given proof that this is a false statement by continuing to answer members other than Mad Jock or Bob? No rhetoric or name calling please, just a plain Yes or No answer to my question. .
  6. I can't help but think that if Hughton had not been sacked and was still in charge we would have finished higher up the table. I certainly don't think Pardew has shown himself to be a better manager, and certainly not after today.
  7. Supporting Newcastle has always been like being on a rollercoaster ride at the hoppings, and this 3 - 0 to 3 - 3 at home to West Brom has to be ranked as one of the worst rides I've ever been on. I have to question Pardoo's inclusion of Smith & Best who had not played for some time. That result was heart-breaking but hey, the rollercoaster ride is over for this season.
  8. Wow, never dreamt we'd get a point off Chelsea with all our absentees. Don't ever want to hear another bad word about goal scoring Saylor. Raylor didn't do too well with his set-piece kicks, Barton should have kept taking them. Ferguson acquitted himself well. Stroller had the usual energy & output of a dead Eveready battery. I thought we were done for when they got the second goal. Big error for Krul on that goal, but where was Wilson. I thought we were in for a cricket score when they got that early goal. Colo & Enrique put in a good shift.
  9. With the injuries we currently have, Nolan among them, I wouldn't risk Tiote getting a card at Chelsea as I honestly don't think we'll get any points there with the available players we have.(I hope I'm wrong) However, I would play him against West Brom as it's very feasable we can pick up 3 points in our last game and finish higher up the table than most thought we would. Not too worried about him picking up another yellow and going into next season with a suspension as I would presume that come next season we'll be going in with a zero injury list, currently injured players fit and ready to go, new player signings in and ready to go, and Tiote's absence subsequently not as crucial.
  10. Carroll not even on the bench, is he injured again? 2 - 5, maybe they overspent on Carropp.
  11. There'll always be a place in my heart for Gazza, no matter how much he self-destructs or ends up. As Sir Bobby once said, "He's as daft as a brush", and yes he was/is, but on the pitch in his prime, a class act.
  12. Blunderland's win at Bolton puts them level on points with us and sadly they will more than likely finish above us in the end as their last two games are against the bottom 2 teams, West Ham & Wolves. Looks a lot easier than ours against Chelsea & West Brom.
  13. Ver grateful for the 3 points, but would have liked to have seen us score against 10 men. Now I feel safer.
  14. With all due respect, people in life do, I did. I was foreman of a custom boat department and was in the process of changing a 57 ft sailboat into a 56 ft luxury motor-sailor. An Italian boat manufacturer liked what they saw and ordered 6, but in kit form. We were to provide the hull mated to the deck. install flooring, an engine, and steering, and pack everything else inside by way of winches, trash-compactor, refrigerator, etc, etc. The idea was that they would customise and complete the boats interiors to their specifications To cut a long story short, after one kit-boat had been delivered to Italy I was offered the job of supervising the completion of all six and possibly more. Triple my wages, all relocating expenses paid for, and a 5 year contract. I turned it down. I liked where I worked, I liked the people I worked for, and I liked the people who worked for me, and I had no contract or offer of an increase in wages to make me stay. And I didn't want to go to Italy. I can understand that. Good for you, but you must agree that it is a very rare thing, and generally speaking, its the sort of thing people shouldn't be criticised for ? Moving abroad is a big step, and it isn't everybodys cup of tea. But a footballer moving from Newcastle to Liverpool ? NO, I can't agree that it is a very rare thing as I can't speak about the masses and how they would act under similar circumstances. Mind you I was criticised by some for not taking the opportunity, and I'm sure there would have been criticism had I gone. It can be a two-edged sword. Isn't going to Liverpool kinda like going abroad? I know they talk funny there too.

  16. I see we've slipped into 11th place now due to Fulham's 3 point win. Looking a little less safer and I wonder what position we will be in come Monday night. You don't think we're safe yet? Not yet, now that we've slipped down the table to 12th, and with bad results for us and good results for them below us I think we could mathematically end up in the bottom three.

  18. I see we have slipped into 10th place due to Stoke's 3 point win today. Would still be in 9th had it not been for the miserable effort at Blackpool. We may be safe at the moment but I think my feeling of safety will come if we do get some points from our remaining games.
  19. Actually, if you think about it for next season .............. If Ben Arfa is fit and playing to expectations. Gosling is fit and playing to expectations. Enrique stays. Barton stays. Tiote stays Jonas stays. Colo stays. Saylor stays. Ireland maybe gets signed. Nolan stays. Williamson stays. Simpson stays. Lovenkrands stays. And if Ferguson, Airey, Kadar, Ranger. Lua Lua, and those other fringe players stay & improve we would on paper have a better team than we have right now. Mind you, I'm not saying we shouldn't bring in new faces or get rid of some, we should do both.
  20. Whoosh. 38 Games. ........Win.........Loss........Draw........Total Points...........Ave.PPG (1).....12 ........ 12 .......... 14 ................ 50 .................. 1.32 (2).....15 ........ 18 ........... 5 ................. 50 .................. 1.32 So wots the point in points per game? That's my point.
  21. Are you being deliberately dense Noelie, or am I being whooshed? I think Noelie's whooshing himself tbh. Perhaps I'm dense, perhaps I'm whooshing someone or perhaps whooshing myself, so perhaps someone should clue me in about the value of points per game or how it's determined. If it's averaging then if I played 16 games, won 5, drew 6, lost 5, then I averaged 1.24 points per game. Brilliant, I lost 5 games but can I say I averaged 1.24 points in those lost games. Whoosh.
  22. We deserved to lose but I'll take the point. Absolute cringe-worthy performence. Pardew is dog-doo, he hasn't a clue. Half-time talk must have been adverse, came out looking worse. Amoeba was on for 90 minutes ...........WHY. Blackpool didn't look that good but we looked like shite. Good strike from Lovenkrands. Perch over Saylor & Rayler, what the fuck. Kugi on for a few seconds, what the fuck. Pardoo to take us to the next level, what the fuck. Draw with Man.Ure, draw with Blackpool, what the fuck. Yes I'm pissed-off.
  23. I think that is a stupid way to work things out. It all boils down to win - lose - or draw, and total points. Isn't the point of W-L-D to determine points, and isn't PPG the only way to compare the number of points a manger gets against another manager with a differing number of matches? Wots the point in points per game? If you lose you get no points unless you'd like to think you got 1.19 points.
