  2. Im in ultra pessimistic mode these days. I think we'll see a glut of players leaving in January and nobody of any note replacing them, add to that Joe Kinnear getting an extension and we will be royally fucked.
  3. What Tom said, I'd just add that the paypal should be up shortly (thanks to a certain Mr Paws whos providing some much appreciated help).
  4. Or you could just use that TVersity thing people were raving about in the xBox 360 thread. Basically stream your stuff from PC to just about anykind of media device (wii, PS3, xBox, iPhone etc etc).
  5. Im with you LM No red car, red braces or red apples. Will only drink white wine, admittedly my position as chief clue writer for the Cluedo club was cancelled due to my refusal to use red herrings and I was thrown out of the Labour party for singing "the black n white flag". As for my blood donor session well thats another story altogether
  6. When it comes to running a football club Whelan is a million miles ahead of Ashley.
  7. I have to disagree with both you and Craig here. Aside of the fact that I obviously rate Taylor more than both of you ... I think that selling players, particularly players who are a fabric of the club, now - at this point in time [not that we should ever do it] and this includes Shay Given, will send out all the wrong signals to everybody in football. Going down the old road pre-Hall and Shepherd [yes I know, but it has to be said] is not an option, and will only cement the impression [and totally confirm it in the eyes of many] that we truly have gone backwards, back to those days. Allowing such a thing to happen would be nothing other than a disaster. selling players though is fine as long as you have a better replacement lined up. 12mill should have ensured that but in the Ashley world we wouldn't. its up to the manager though, ref Keegan when he sold Cole and replaced him with Les Ferdinand. I think this is possibly the only time in all my years of supporting the club where they have sold a top, top player for a top, top fee, and actually managed to replace him with a better one. The usual scenario is if you sell players "because you can't turn down the price" you spend more money trying to find a suitable replacement. There are exceptions, but they are rare. James Milner - i was in favour of that, on the surface, not just because I HOPED Keegan would use the money well, but also because I just don't rate Milner that highly in the first place. Different for Taylor though, I do rate him a lot and just now mate, the squad will have a real fight on its hands just to stay up. If we sold Taylor and tried to replace him with 2 cheaper players or something, well that is exactly the way the club was run by the old regime in the 70's and 80's. We'll see. But I would want the club not to sell any of our best players, ever, without getting a better one through the door first. I think we're basically saying the same thing but from different angles. I personally dont rate Taylor as highly as he rates himself. I think hes an average player nothing special at all and far too prone to mistakes for my liking. If we could sell him for 12million and we knew that the manager would then have 12million+ to go and get a replacement then I'd be saying "snap their hands off". What I think will happen is like you say, we'll sell and then "if we're lucky" they'll spend a couple of mill on some shite replacement, in that instance then Id rather we stuck with Taylor.

  9. COCA-COLA LEAGUE ONE Bristol Rovers v Scunthorpe. LEAGUE TWO Chesterfield v Shrewsbury (7.30pm). EAGLE BITTER UNITED COUNTIES LEAGUE Reserve Division One: Spencer v Raunds. Says it all really.
  10. You are basing that on the belief that this bloke is like any other businessman with any football business sense. He doesnt, this is the man who believes that he can sell players and get in others on the cheap from abroad, all with the intention of then selling on in 1 or 2 years time for a profit. This is the man who thought it good transfer sense to allow Dennis Wise to overrule a manager who was classed as a god around here and then lie about it time and time again. This is the man who employed Joe Kinnear. This is also the man who has gone on record to say he will not invest another penny in this club. However more importantly this is the man who is quickly losing all his assets through either daft business or gambling. If hes willing to gamble on HBOS shares going up when the world says they'll go down then hes willing to bet that we'll stay up without any intervention.
  11. Exactly. That's the problem. Now that the two potential buyers have entered into due diligence then that 12m would have to be reflected somewhere if he were to be sold so it would be unlikely to go straight into Ashley's pocket. And should these two buyers not exist? then what? or for that matter they exist but dont complete by end January? My belief is that during the transfer window Ashely will sell everything of note to replace them with cheap buys. If the club is sold then yes that cash would have to be accounted for but otherwise its his fallback, pull in as much as possible from a "firesale" so he has cash if no buyer completes.
  12. you've lost me totally mate.
  13. Seriously, does anyone actually think we are any kind of prospect to a player of any note or potential? If its a choice between us and the likes of Villa, City, Spurs, West Ham, Blackburn, Portsmouth dare I say even the Wigans of this world then I reckon we'll lose out.
  14. Im fairly confident we wont, unfortunately not because we'll be adding to it but because a number will be heading out. I fully expect to see a Championship quality squad here come the 1st Feb. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong.
  15. As much as Id love to see Taylor go and more importantly get 12million for him, if Ashley hasnt sold the club then we'll not see a penny of that cash.
  16. The Promotion, avergae pile of shite but has to be seen just for Lili Taylor's terrible Scottish accent!
  17. Were you out afterwards? apologies mate nobody did intros so I didnt realise if you were there for the 20minutes or so that I was.
  18. Spot on. By the way, does anyone actually enjoy going to the match anymore? I mean, I don't watch any football on the telly anymore and home games are like some form of sick torture. Not just cos we're shit either. Take Wigan as an example - their play-acting yesterday. There's just fuck all enjoyable about watching a bunch of grown men carry on like that. Football has gone completely to shit imo. Thats the thing, its not just the Toon, football (or at least the Premiership) is not the same game it used to be. Stupid kick off times, the moving of games for television at fairly short notice, lack of competent referees, fans attitutes. All of these things on top of the fact that we are shit means that the game is losing its spark for me. Maybe we should all get back to grass roots football again, go and watch the likes of Blyth, Blue Star, Shankhouse etc once in a while just to see what proper football is like again.
  19. Im not sure that Mr Vain sampled anything and Im thinking its unlikely that we came out to Mr Vain. If however you mean that its used on the video itself and not during the games then Id imagine they probably did use it as it was one of the biggest songs of that year.
  20. Thats all well and good but how many backflips have you seen him do? eh? eh?
  21. I have to go to a wedding at 1.30 in Morpeth, hope they dont notice that Im buggering off after the ceremony and wont be at the reception
  22. I hate the fact he laughs about sneaking into the ground, tightarsed twat
