Jimbo 175
Little is known of Ashley's private life, except that his former home was a 16-bedroom former hotel in Buckinghamshire. It is known that he prefers casual dress of shirt and chino's or a track suit over a suit, and often carries his essential business tool of a mobile phone in a plastic carrier bag over a brief case. Jimbo 175
Jeez, but this guy's the owner of Sports & Soccer, we'll be flooded by chavs and east europeans, the team's going to end up wearing Donnay and Lonsdale kits Not so sure: The acquisitive Mr Ashley has spent about £200m this year to purchase a 3% stake in German sportswear company Adidas. The Fish 12521
Apparently the odds have been slashed on us winning a trophy next season. They must be expecting some hefty transfer activity this summer. It was only a couple of weeks ago that Freedy was saying no one would ever take over the club as they would need both his and Halls shares together and they wouldnt sell. Everyone is assuming that Freddy didnt know about this. If someone is offering him £60mil for the club he maybe already decided to sell. orrrr it's a betting scam? Shepherd found out about the takeover bid, made that statement then 45 minutes* later he was seen down the bookies having a punt on us to win some silverware next season. *he was waylaid by two Greggs Pasty sessions p.s. this bid must have been in the offing for a while, what's the likelihood that Big Sam knew about the impending takeover and that it had some bearing on his decision to join us? East Stander 0
Will be interesting to watch the share movements tomorrow despite the club advising not to make a decision straight away. Only other holding over 3% is the unknown Len Hatton with 3.9% who has had his shares for a few years now, no-one really knows if he is friend/foe of fatty. JawD 99
On a side note, while this share thing rumbles on, arent we meant to stop any trading? and so not act on transfers for the time being? Or doesnt this effect that?
Park Life 71
If he has 41% he needs to get 50% + 1 share to be able to get FFS off the Board at 100p a share the banks will sell to him ASAP - no-one else will come in when he has 41% so they can take a big wedge and get out - most of them bought at 40p he needs 75% to delist and 95% to force everyone to sell I think He clearly won't stop till he has full overall control, nothing else makes any business sense. FTR- With that kind of investment he must have a strategy in place and the only one that will see him making money is growing the club based on success. VERY GOOD DAY FOR US. Baggio 0
I wonder if he'll bring the price of shirts down in the club shop to the same price as SS. Good news for us, we need this to keep up with Spurs, West Ham and Villa without even thinking of the top 4.

JawD 99
51% does indeed get him overall control as majority shareholder. Mind you, FS isnt majority now yet he is in place as chairman. But essentially it will be up to Ashley who runs the club from that perspective. No I wont post it twice...
