The region is called Hessian Siberia for a reason. Or as my youngest said when she went there the first time “Oh, this place is full of countryside.”

Hessen Kassel btw

For a ground with a running track it looks mint tbh :)

They used to be ok in the 80s, missing out on promotion to the top tier for several years with dropping from 1st to fourth on the last day of the season and after dropping points the match before after being 2-0 up against a promotion rival (Hannover).

They went bankrupt in the 90s and had to restart in the lowest league meaning I played in a higher league myself then. That’s when I fell in football love with Newcastle because of Keegan.

Kassel went bankrupt again later and playing in the 4th tier at the moment.

The stadium got refurbished 15 years ago to stage the national athletic championship. With having no money it was the only chance to get a nicer stadium.

I don't think it's a celebration of his career though, is it? It's about his destruction by the tabloid press which didn't begin until after he left Newcastle.

You fucking soopafans.
