Sounds like I’m in the minority here but I’d welcome the return of derby day. I’m mates with some Sunderland fans and it’ll be nice to consign the six in a row nonsense to history. If they are lucky enough to be promoted, they’re going to struggle just as much as the recently promoted teams. The gulf between the championship and PL has never been bigger because of PSR. Only Forest in recent years have managed it and they only did it by flirting with relegation after a points deduction. Bring it on. It’s unlikely to end well for them, whatever happens

It would be good for the region tbf which, setting rivalries aside, does matter. That place is properly run down and having a PL club would help. I'd sooner have them knocking about lower mid table than the likes of Fulham.

it would be a bit of a shock if they beat Sheffield Utd. But it’s better for Sunderland to play them in a one off cup final type of match than over two legs so they’ve got a decent chance imo. You’d think they’d really struggle to be remotely competitive with the way things are now if they came up though. It’s got to the point where it’s unusual if one of the promoted 3 stays up and you’d think they’d be the least well equipped.

I'm far more interested in seeing an end to the league stranglehold the bindippers and man city have over us than I have beating the mackems 7 times in succession.

I really couldn't give a fuck if I never see another derby again. I've loved some of them, I've seen more victories than defeats but these days I'd be just as worried they put one of ours out for a season than anything else they do with the actual football and if they hit lucky in staying up I'd hate to see them given the chance to improve. Also you'd see them being really not bothered at all about the Saudi club during a derby, the cunts had a complete meltdown about us being given a whole end and a shit football ground bar being given over to us, they'd be no bother at all and would treat it as though they were playing Charlton Athletic or Bristol Rovers I'm sure.

Their massive cash boost is already committed on signing that French lad that spent most of the time injured since he joined on loan. Mackems at work are desperate to not come up because they are absolutely convinced they'll go back down having broken Derby's point record. On that basis - I wish them all the luck in the world in the playoff final

I can't believe any mackem doesn't want promotion, if they say they don't it's a comfort thing. They're unlikely to break Derby's record. And once relegated will get parachute payments making them more competitive. On balance promotion is a good thing for them so for me the best outcome is for them to get smashed by Sheffield United or another penalty loss heart break.
