He won an election though. Also was partly undone by his party obsessing about ‘family values’. Which backfired when they were all having extramarital affairs. Or dying during cross-dressing wanks involving biting down on amyl nitrate dosed satsumas

In hindsight the barmy thing about that is it feels like that's what finished off the Major administration, but actually you had the Tim Yeo, David Ashby and Stephen Milligan stories all within about six weeks of each other (and Lord Caithness's wife's suicide too) - more than three years before the 1997 election. At least we'll hopefully be rid of this lot sooner.

Disgust GIF

I watched about 10 mins of that programme last month. That tractor porn ex MP was entering prison with old squat and latex glove routine performed on him, probably for a few grand. There is no grift too shameless for these fuckers. Mercer was an absolute cunt on QT this week too. Pity nobody asked him about this.

I know it's been said before but fuck me, the conceit of these cunts self proclaiming themselves as the "Star Chamber" is quite staggering. look, they produced an exhaustive 10 PAGE report!

Also, what the fuck, the "Common sense group"? How the fuck did the members of Golgafrinchans Ark B manage to get in positions of power? What the fuck happened to Ark A???

The ERG is just another grift. Iirc, not only does it receive public funding in its laughable capacity as a ‘think tank’ and a ‘research group’. But also, I think MPs pay a few grand a year to be members only for them to then claim that back through expenses. It would’ve been hounded out of public life by the right wing press years ago if it was of the opposite political persuasion

We did a big upgrade at the Verne Citadel on top of Portland when it was changed from a Cat B prison into an immigration detention centre in 2014. The last few months we were in with the inmates who were a bit of a rum bunch to say the fuckin least. Turned up one morning and weren’t allowed in, there’d been a death. One of them had done another one of them. Then after we’d finished this happened

They changed it back to a  prison not long after. They’ve got Gary fuckin Glitter in there now 😒

If Labour have any sense they’ll crucify them on this, even if it’s a ‘success’. I.e. the cost compared how many people will actually go and what the %-age of those people are compared to those claiming asylum. It’s about 400 people in total even if it all goes to plan IIRC. You could give them all £100k and save a fortune. It’s fucking ludicrous but the government are ludicrous

It's forecast to cost £400 million by 2025. This does not even include the individual "fees" for each asylum seeker, so that's more than a million pounds per person. Those sums of money could literally save childrens' lives in this country, for instance the recent decision by NICE that life-saving treatments for Cystic Fibrosis are too expensive.  Save a child's life or fly some poor soul to Rwanda? And then it emerges that because Rwanda can't be trusted on the issues of refoulement, asylum seekers that are unsuccessful in their application will be sent back to the UK. So we get rid of the genuine ones but keep the dodgy ones! And of course, we know how Rwandan officials will be incentivised. Requests to embed immigration officials in Rwanda have of course been blocked on grounds of Rwandan sovereignty....

"But it's a deterrent" they say. But, apart from the fact they talk up Rwanda as some kind of utopia - so how can it be a deterrent - as they have the capacity to take less than 1% of the people on small boats how can it possibly be a deterrent? And yet this batshit policy (Cleverly TM) is absorbing all the govenment's entire bandwidth at a time of continued crisis. And it's doing fuck all for them in the polls.

Douglas Adams couldn't imagine a situation this absurd. And yet here we are.

Yeah. At this point it’s seemingly just to appease enough Tory MPs to allow Sunak to cling on until the inevitable election defeat. And that’s it.
