Sorry for your loss, Robin, and for whatever it was that put the strain on your relationship in the first place. As others have said, hope you get some comfort from having managed to build a bridge or two back again near the end. Difficult to know which gif to use. 🙂
Howmanheyman 43837
He's still your dad, RR so despite whatever differences you had, (and his age), it's still going to be a bit of a hit to you. My condolences. 2
Alex 42104
Sorry for your loss @RobinRobin Like others have said it’s perfectly understandable to feel the way you do about this. And I think it can only be a good thing that you were more in touch with your father in recent times. 1
Monkeys Fist 50629
Sorry to hear this Robin. My old man and I lost many years to a distance between us, but thankfully we reconnected for a good few years before his passing. Losing your dad is a sledgehammer, no matter your age, or what the relationship was. 4

Rayvin 8316
Sorry for your loss man... I'd imagine some of the most difficult parts of this sort of thing might be the conversations or words left unsaid. I hope you're able to find any closure you need, and that you're ok. 1

I wouldn’t worry too much if your feelings are aal awa Hexham mate. Given everything you’ve said about how you and your old man were, and the suddenness, your emotions will be up and down faster than Mrs. Wyki’s knickers on a play day. I don’t know if you’re Mam is still around, or if you’ve experienced losing a parent already, but it hits you in some expected and very unexpected ways- take some time off work and just look after yourself and Mrs. Robin, hang out in The Shire, eat po-tay-toes, that kind of thing.
trophyshy 8997
Get pissed @RobinRobin, that’s what I’d do anyway. In fact, I might do it on your behalf, for good measure. ❤️ 1

Had a fairly distant (not just mileage) relationship for many years, but have been in touch more recently, via cards and letters. I hope we had reached some understanding. Apparently diagnosed with ameloid myeloma on 8 October and obviously went quite quickly. Not quite sure how I feel, because of the strained relationship, but feeling more down than I anticipated. He had just turned 97 and got his driver's licence for another 3 years (which is obviously a bit scary), and was expecting to see that out, so even though he was a tremendous age, it has rather come out of the blue. condolences mate. it always hurts, even if they've had a good innings or when relations are strained. actually sometimes more so in the latter case as you can end up reflecting about why you might have done differently. look after yourself
Gemmill 63006
I got my flu jab on 13th October, and on the 19th came down with a stinking cold and have been LOADED with snot and coughs ever since. I maybe get a cold once every 3 years, so this has ENRAGED me. I'm genuinely thinking about going full antivax.

Hey RR, hope you are okay and working through it. My old man was an absolute cunt and I hadn't spoken to him for over 30 years when he past, although he did try in his last six months to reconnect. Sometimes it just is what it is. But hope you find where you need to be. So after listening to snotty Scotty's woes, I don't feel so bad now, as I sit here with a bag of my piss strapped to my leg, a tube connected to it from the end of my cock, six glued up holes in my stomach and no longer being able to give my lovely wife a pearl necklace anytime she wants it! But hey, be like me and Mr T, cancer and prostate free! Oops, excuse me, I have to empty the bag.
