Had on, was she a single mother?

Her, Hen, Joe and Whale were at least in their early twenties.
No way Ma Broon was still having kids 20+ years after she popped them out.

The Bairn is obviously Maggie’s after a night out on the Bucky.

( Jocks and Geordies was in the Dandy, posh kids comic  ).

Had on, was she a single mother? So fucking weird. Hen, Joe, Daphne, Maggie, Horace, twins, bairn, Ma and Da. Ten of the sweaty buggers living in a 2 bed tenement. Could still afford a But and Ben holiday ho,e though even if it was a bothy.

Does anybody remember the Jocks and the Geordies? Vague recollections as to these 2 groups braying each other, can't remember the context of how this came about, or which comic it was in. Viz spoofed it as well iirc with the Bacons fighting their scottish counterparts.

Iirc the context was they lived on either side of the England / Scotland border and that they used to fight with each other because of that

My only exposure to the Dandy was via sometimes getting the annuals at Christmas. I used to buy the Beano religiously every week though.

If Bucky was involved I think she might be Daphne's personally. The evidence:

The bairn, Daphne, Maggie. Hmmmm.

“But uh, likesay, now you come to me and you says -

'Donald Corleone, gie me justice.'
But you didnae ask with respect. You dinnae offer friendship. You didnae even think to call me Granfaither, ya wee cunt.
Instead, you come into my hoose on the day my lassie is to be married, and you ask me to do murrrdah for money.

Get tae fuck!”

I was considering driving down to Wollongong to see the Brian Jonestown Massacre this evening, until this happened a couple of days ago, mate and I thought it was bound to happen tonight (they have been on a six month world tour so tensions would be high) but it turns out Anton could wait any longer.

If you want a good music doco to watch, go find DIG! It's about the Dandy Warhols and the BJM.

What prompted that then?

Probably nothing. That's just what happens when musicians* don't speak to or socialise with anyone other than other than other musicians or techies for any length of time.

*Frontmen and guitar players are the absolute worst for it on the surface. Bassists and drummers less obviously so, they'll quietly dictate things from the shadows. It's all just infantile posturing to prop up ego's. Music industry 101.

Anton is also known to be a complete head case.

From what I've read and heard he spent the whole gig calling the audience cunts, although he might be right as he was in Melbourne.

He just doesn't do drugs or alcohol well and he's been touring for six months, so he will be filling his boots.

I know fuck all about them but I'd wager he's actually quite a sensitive and fairly decent soul outwith his public persona.

Folk like him are why I never entertained or pursued the idea of getting into live sound or even being a roadie as a career option.

Fuck that noise. I'll watch the drama from afar and might even buy a ticket, but bollocks to having to work with these folk for your main income.

You are not wrong, I've met someone who is in BJM, he was in my doco I sent you the link too, Ricky Maymi, really nice guy.

We were talking about BJM, this would have been around 2008 and Ricky said, "I was in the BJM before they shot Dig! and I was in the BJM after they released Dig! but thank fuck I wasn't anywhere near the band while Dig! was happening."

Anton likes to make a scene in public, unfortunately it's his thing and those close to him know it and try to either stop him (his g/f is the chick in the ruckus) or they step out of the way, Ricky far left of the video with the 12 string.

FYI the guys from Black Rebel Motorcycle Club were early members of BJM but got as far away from there as possible.

So I went to see Martin Stephenson and the Daintees tonight, rare for me and the wife to get a night out without kids.

At the bar before the gig, thought, what are all these old people doing here? Then realised I'm one of them. Ahh well, at least Martin still looks good. Love the half Mackem bastard.

I think it was Jello Biafra that compiled a list of imaginary punk/hardcore band names and they were all real bands within a few years. Iirc it was all variations on things like Desolate Youth, Wasted Youth and stuff like that

Off to see the Black Crowes at the City Hall in May, Tom McRae at the Cluny in September and Jason Isbell at the Stockton Globe in November.  Probably could have had a week in some shit hole like Benidorm for less.

I remember getting tickets to see the likes of Alice Cooper and David Lee Roth at Whitley Bay ice rink for just over a tenner back in the day....
