Build slowly. Improve gradually. Have an actual long term plan for the first XI and the wider infrastructure. I’d be delighted if it was like that and they demonstrated being here for the long haul. That’s what we need. I’d still expect a big upgrade on what we have come the summer of course.

I’ve yet to hear anyone convincingly explain that the PIF can be separated from the Saudi state. The PL says they received binding assurance, whatever that means. Mandy wasn’t able to clarify what the meant either. It was never about human rights. But that’s not the supporters’ fault. Take the hand-wringing to the PL’s door.

Yes, but if it was just down to the government and PIF being the same they could have rejected them because of the involvement in piracy as well as for not providing sufficient information. Not making a decision at all looked very much as trying to kick the cans down the road.

The distinction of wealth funds as legal entities from states is a rather tricky one in a lot of countries and often down to constitutional law. It goes deeper than just looking at a person being involved on both sides.

It's just occurred to me that all the little cunt kids from Newcastle who now support Man City (like my wife's cousin's kid) or Chelsea (like my wife's firend's kid) aren't gonna be looking so smug anymore.

I can't wait til the next time I see these two (12 and 9 respectively).

Yes you'd expect an influx of commercial sponsorship even if it's not fake Saudi cash injection stuff. Given that Ashley had almost fucking nothing in place on that front, we should have a few tens of millions to run at just from making the smallest effort.

Plus the bonanza from the sale of Joelinton

I understand his excellency Yasir Al-Rumayyan will be taken to the Strawberry in his stretch limo to enjoy his favourite Martini cocktail - sheik-en not stirred obviously.  He will then be escorted on a fishing trip to the northern reaches of the Tyne - that ensures that he can inform his superior back home that he has 'Bin-Salman' fishing.  Yasir has a very Sunni disposition and I don't think he will Mecca mess of this takeover.

Remember this all started when Amanda & Ashley went for a curry in Hampstead in 2017.  After much argy-bhaji the consortium decided to tikka chance and the deal is done which should get us out of our current pickle.  The mackems are naan too impressed I fear.

Football's cumin home.

Yours, the Paperback Raita.

It’s legally separated in KSA. That’s probably it. In reality that probably doesn’t mean in is in any meaningful sense. But the PL can’t exactly make judgements about the laws in other sovereign states. I think the initial issue was the piracy. That could’ve been solved relatively easier. When it got murky was when the ‘Big 6’ kicked off so approached Masters to try and get the deal prevented. At that point the separation becomes an issue because the PL thinks the likes of Liverpool are all that matters. The tactic then becomes to delay the process hoping the Saudis walk away. It appeared to work. The setting of a date for arbitration seems to have brought things into focus. Perhaps we had evidence of collusion. Perhaps the ESL breakaway led the league to question of it should be loyal to the very clubs that threatened to walk away. But the separation issue was never really solved, only the piracy one. Obviously I’m speculating somewhat but it doesn’t seem that unlikely. Especially given how quickly it was all concluded.

the separation issue was never the real sticking point because it was patently bollocks

 My mates brother is a Liverpool glory hunter and has been unbearable for years, he was very quiet in the group chat yesterday before just repeating that he wasn’t bothered so long as they had Klopp then said he might just stop watching footy when Klopp leaves as footy is shit now anyway .
