Is there a credible source for the $12m valuation? I doubt that's the club's own valuation for the reasons you've laid out plus he's British (noting he only has a year left on his contract)

£12m doesn’t seem much for an English player with CL experience coming into his prime years. Hopefully if two clubs are interested it will be closer to £20m. PSR means we have to sell well as well as buying well

Yeah £25 Mill

No-one is going to pay £25m for Longstaff with a year left on his contract. I think £15m max. Depends on how desperate any team needs him of course but £25m would be about right if he had 2 or 3 years left.

£12-£15 Mill is championship fodder price, way too low.

Ipswich paid £15 mill plus add-ons for Clarke.

It does feel low but I can see the arguments otherwise. I still feel a bit badly for Longstaff but this is absolutely going to be the right move for him too.

Can someone give me a steer on which of our main midfielders Miley is cover for? I'm just wondering where the sale of Longstaff leaves us short.

£12m seems a pretty pointless amount to sell him for.  How much would we have to pay for someone to replace him who actually contribute to the team?  Unless this is one of those £12m converts to £60m spread across 5 years for PSR purposes.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him moving in early July in a similar sort of deal we did last year involving Forest and the Greek.

Grealish being linked on loan. Which seems made up because we have 2 Laws better than him and he seems the polar opposite of the on the pitch work ethic and off the pitch behaviour that Howe expects from his players.

Apparently we don't have any need to do any deals like that this year though?  From the noises I've heard, we're going to be trying to use FFP to our advantage this year by picking players from teams who need to do a deal.

£25m for Ciggy  Let's not get all tinted eyes lads

You'd understand better if you took your anti-Longstaff tunnel vision specs off.

I’ve seen worse players than Longstaff go for more than £25 million. He has been a regular in sides performing at the right end of the table and even chipped in with 8 goals or so last season. There’ll be a few teams who will fancy getting him a run of games. It’s also telling that everyone that plays with him and manages him says he’s a good player

Aye, that’s what I meant.

‘We’ll buy one of your best players in late June to get you out of a hole if you take Longstaff off our hands in early July (start of the new accounting year).’

I mean £12m does convert to a £60m deal

because he's a home grown player. And with 12months left on his contract, who is going to pay us more than £12mil for our 6th choice CM?

We’ll have an empty seat on the bench

Seriously though, I wish him all the best- it’s definitely the right thing to do, and he’s been a very good servant to the club throughout his entire time here.

His purple patch where we didn’t lose if he was playing was at the perfect stage in our club’s resurrection for him to get his place in the XI, we’ve now moved past that and he needs regular games which he’ll get at the sides in the 14-16th place slots like Everton, Man U and Spuds.

Good lad, and good luck.

Miley and Sean both cover the same role. The right sided 8, I think the kids call it. Bruno’s current position, basically
