Two weeks ago they said he does want to play for Espanyol‘s local rival. Shows how much you can trust the myriad of daily misinformed.

I don’t care about all those rumours anymore tbh. The last couple of the seasons have shown how difficult it is to be successful in the transfer market. Fair play if we manage to make some extraordinary signings otherwise it will be down to Howe making the best out of whatever is to his disposal. It’s far more important to have a great manager than relying on expensive mercenaries.

It’s very en vogue at the minute after Luis Enrique has bought young non-established talents and then made players like Dembele class again.

It‘s en vogue because Howe made Burn score with THAT header

I visited the Mbueno factory in the 1980s. At the time it was located on Belmont Industrial Estate.

If we’re still talking Um Bongo (can’t keep up!) production might have moved there but the drink was born in Libby’s factory in Milnthorpe just south of Kendal.

Craig Hope suggesting we're looking at Joao Pedro today, versatile but spent most of his career playing through the middle.

Fits the bill and we wanted him before he went to brighton so its an easy link to make, they don't sell cheap though.

At least we have a summer of brilliantly insightful analysis from chicken nonce to look forward, I mean the man clearly works his socks off and presents his case so well " I think this player would be great in the team", Mindblown,

apparently Brighton want £100m for him. They’re not the easiest to do business wirh. Always seem to extract a fortune for the players they let go. I like the player but we’re not Chelsea

 I bet they fucking do.

He's still fairly young but hes had four PL seasons and managed double figures once. 100 million my arse.

they got a similar fee for Caicedo, if I remember correctly. I suspect our signings will fly under the radar of the domestic press pack until the last minute and will instead come from foreign clubs where you can extract more value in the Isak/Tonali/Botman mould. The premium paid for PL experience is a pisstake - fees and wages. I imagine we swerved Mbeemo, who apparently wants north of £200k per week, for the same reason.

Agreed, we're a ways off dropping 100 mil on a player anyway and considering that Florian Wirtz is looking at moving for not a whole lot more than that the idea that pedro will is laughable tbh. Its superstar money. And its a "we're not selling" price tag from brighton.

When we eventually do spend that on someone, it'll be someone we're properly excited about.

West Ham were on about 70 million for Kudus as well, another price tag no one should pay. I do think theres a real player in there though tbf and if we signed him (without totally fucking our ability to spend elsewhere) I'd be pretty happy with it.

we’ve been linked with this kid from Monaco. He’d cost about half the price mooted for the PL players. Probably won’t happen because Guehi aside our deals don’t tend to play out in public but it’s the sort of player I think we’ll target instead - like the lad who plays for PSV

In Kev Lawson's thread/piece, he did a bit on him, reckoned he's very good but question marks on him passing the no dickheads rule.

Whenever we have signed the likes of Tonali, Bruno etc, they have come out of nowhere. I am totally chill (for once) on this.

for what its worth, i think you guys might follow a similar model to us. but modified somehow. there were noises about that early in your takeover.

if so you'll decide what a player is worth to you and walk away if the selling club wants more than your valuation.

They want rid of him cos he had a training ground bust up at the end of the season. No one is paying anywhere near that much for him

Aye. Things aren’t always black and white as well. If Mbeumos agent says he wants more than £200k a week then I’d assume we immediately disengage.

no idea what city's valuation of florian wirtz was but i suspect we thought we could negotiate a much lower fee than is being demanded. and we walked away. the rest is spin imo.

looks like Reijnders for £46.3m is more reasonable. With Cherki and Ait-Nouri to follow hopefully. A much needed midfield refresh.

who are you're likely ins and outs?

I'm not sure any of us have a clue on likely 'ins', we thought we would be in for Mbuemo. With that dead all I've seen in here is snatches of rumours, nothing concrete.

Likely outs seem to be the supporting cast of the midfield positions. Longstaff, Willock potentially. Hopefully we're about to shift at least a couple of hundred goalkeepers.

It was actually the player himself who "proved" he didn't want to play for rival Barcelona, because when the rumor linking him to Barcelona broke, he posted a photo on social media of himself kissing the RCD Espanyol crest with the message "Don't believe the lies" or something like that.

But yes. I'll also tell you that things in the market change very quickly. I've been in contact with people who work in Atleti's sporting department, and I know of many signings that, even though they were already signed, didn't end up happening.

I'm very happy about that. Only recently linked too which is nice.

Pretty much under the radar as well which I hope is our strategy too.

I think the challenge we have is that we had years of Ashley's cronies telling us "we were after a player but we couldn't quite get it over the line..." so disappointment is entrenched and expected, and likely intensified by virtue we had to satisfy PSR for the past couple of years. I'm really hopeful we're going to be pleasantly surprised come the end of the summer.
