It’s old school but the new structure seems mainly designed to future plan around the instability of manager changes. The more stable Howe’s position the less worthwhile an extra middle man becomes. I think we can all appreciate what middle management does: slows everything down, makes everything a “process” and generally just wastes everyone’s time teaching common sense to those who either don’t need the lesson or are too stupid for the lesson to stick. Maybe, reading between the lines, this was at least part of Howe’s point. We can exchange the risk of less long term stability (only theoretical since it is contingent on Howe’s position becoming untenable) for more flexibility and responsiveness in the market. I dunno. For a while I thought the club really had it together at the board level but it really sounds like Mandy was holding a lot of this together herself. I mean we can't even replace Mitchell until we have a new CEO in place I would have thought, as how else do we ensure their views align?
