And we won't get 150m for him, probably closer to 100-120m (which I guess Isak is to thank for for taking his desire to leave public). Also, it was mentioned that Liverpool probably needed to sell first, Diaz, Nunez and Eliot were mentioned. As things stand, I think the club would be best to assume he's gone and start ramping up the effort to find a replacement pronto. What time is it in Singapore? Have the internet cafes opened yet so Howe can get on ICQ and get things rolling? "Hello, Brentford, a/s/l?" All of which is basically "crickets". Actually it's not quite crickets cos the major piece of news the day after the player announces he wants to leave is the confirmation that we've just missed out on the keeper we've been targeting for the last 18 months. I don't know what the club should be doing, but the day after its most valuable asset has announced his desire to leave, I'm not sure "just keep shtum lads" is the appropriate response. Eales probably thinks it's Howe's job.

Gemmill 63312
10 minutes ago, toonotl said: Honestly, I think the stuff about "reclaiming the narrative" is pretty unlikely to help. Arguably this situation is to a decent extent the product of too much focus on the "narrative" and not enough attention given on actually fuckin' doing something. Eventually, the "narrative" becomes just that: empty words. In my books, it is time for action. I can sympathize with the sentiment because there are certainly extenuating circumstances but I think we're beyond placating the masses with empty platitudes about ambition and blah blah blah. If anything a bunch of word salad about "ambition" and "PSR" and "it's all Mitchell's fault guys, we swear, we're about to arrest him for treason", is likely to make things worse not better. Anyway only my two cents, of course. We should get aggressive and say we acknowledge the player's position and await a formal bid from his stated preferred destination. If this is not received by next Friday, the player can leave next summer as it doesn't leave us enough time to find a replacement.

Just start leaking to the press that Isak fucking loves stealing metal dustcaps and the scouse cunts will have a bid of £200m in the inbox by the end of the day.

"We would've simply not backed down from our original position from last year that Isak isn't for sale. But to show that we are serious people, we now won't back down from this new and improved stance in which we will only back down until Friday evening. But after that, we really won't back down." Grrrrrrrrr! Aggressively backing down is our identity.

wykikitoon 28572
Decent from Hope. Like he said. We hold the cards, £150m+ or fuck off. If we haven't a bid by Friday next week, tough shit, have it next summer.
David Kelly 1839
Don't see how it could be a good time to sell at all. We clearly aren't prepared to be able to react quickly enough in the time we have to do what we need to do to take any sort of advantage of it. I'd be amazed from where we are currently, if we don't go into this new season with a big cloud hanging over the club.

IF we signed both Sesko and Wissa and a couple of others it might not be a disaster short term and could be better long term. Also, as pointed out by Hope there, we were dire at the start of last season with Isak being particularly poor as allegedly his head wasn't right. Fucking tough start like and I really hope Isak isn't made to face SJP.

If it was the club Comms you'd also see on there the die hard 'adopted Geordie' cheering Man U's last minute winner plus any Tom, Prick and Ho Chi Minh Harry who've ever gone slightly viral posting about NUFC in the last five minutes. Christmas Tree 6705
As I’ve said before this all just seems a continuation of PIF’s lack of interest in the club. News that we are up for sale or Howe moving on, wouldn’t come as a major shock. Sad, but everything seems to point this way.

If all the past couple of years have shown the potential of the club. Even if they sell any potential buyer should be aware of it. The main problem does probably lie within the cultures of reaching decisions and the line of communications. Not filling positions at board level quickly as well as amateurish attempts to conclude transfers shouldn’t result in a total overhaul of the way how the club is run on a daily basis.

PIF have got all sorts going on, they can't micro manage the day to day at NUFC. Where they've fucked up horribly is in their executive appointments. Although I believe the BELOVED Amanda and Mehrdad also played a role in the appointment of Atlanta Darren. They need to get this next one, and the new DoF right.

It points more to things not being run well by those directly responsible at board / executive level. Totally different to what you’re saying. Unless you think the Ekitike and Guehi bids (for example) weren’t genuine?

Etfuckingcetra. Highly suss that an amazing business set up such as PIF can tolerate such shoddiness. PSR has resulted in their acquisition not being the golden sports washing move they hoped for and we look as though we have been left to tickover. Gemmill 63312
Everything you've written there, with the exception of appointment of execs, is the job of Eales and his team. The mistake PIF made was appointing him.
