I doubt he would refuse to play, certainly not for very long, as it would ultimately harm him.

Aye, plus the World Cup is next summer. Personally I'd refuse any offer this summer and offer him a new contract on improved terms with a release clause and if he wants to go next year then so be it.

Thats the ideal solution but Liverpool have obviously been in touch behind the scenes.

That'd be best case scenario. Judging from Howe's press conferences, it looks like the gameplan going forward. We probably don't have time to replace him at this point anyway (given how glacial we are at getting deals done).

If he stays I wonder what the reception will be at SJP first game of the season, especially given the opponents? And given the transfer window will still be open? Crikey.

Aye but we still hold all the cards. Put in a release clause of £130m. That means we still make a tidy wedge, get him for another season and have a player motivated to prove that he's worth £130m in order to get the move.

I think we can all agree with our own shared experiences that everyone is different. As are footballers.

Wrong. There were loads of redundancies which was shit but I was never going to be at risk personally. I just believe in science you need to be truthful rather than engage in the Pharma bullshit. Honestly, it's as simple as that. My old boss told me I had too much integrity. Can you have too much integrity when it comes to medical treatments? Apparently so.

As a matter of fact I met a director from there a few weeks back and he offered me a job. It would be 40% on what I earn now but Id still hate it so will keep trying where I am. The pay cut is brutal mind. I might end up with no choice.

Too much integrity now as well! You'll feature ON a stained glass window if you keep this up.

If people are right and Howe is looking to keep him, I assume his conversations with Isak are around the fact that he's let us know too late in the window, to which I assume Isak's response was "Ah you mean your mad successful transfer window?! That window."

If you aren't careful you're going to have us believe that you don't much care for Liverpool or it's inhabitants.

There are all of these subtle hints I'm starting to see.

There is a question mark about how much he really wants to move given how late in the window it is that this request has come out.  Surely the better move for him was to tell us straight away before before Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea all signed new forwards so there was more options for him and we had a more realistic opportunity to replace him.  Leaving it this late in the window suggests that something hasn't happened that he expected (new contract or new players) and he's pissed off that or that he's doing this to push us into action on those fronts.  For us it's hopefully the latter but more likely to be the former.

I hope , really hope, it’s nothing negative.

A massive part of the turnaround at the club since the Bacon days is the positivity and connection between the crowd and players at the match.

Isak having his head turned by venal agents and professional victims isn’t really his fault, and if he’s pulling on our shirt against said professional victims then he needs our support more than ever.

It’ll play right in to their scabby fucking hands if we turn against him.

Or perhaps he's not pushing as hard as reports would have us believe.

I don't think we'd will for the record. I hope he scores a hatrick against the fuckers.

I sort of hope he gets a little stick for the first game but then thats it.

A bit of contrast to the adoration he's had up to now, he isn't and shouldn't be immune to some manner of consequences for dicking us around which I feel he has absolutely done (and I mean us the fans, not the club or management).

He does have the world cup coming up and there is some pretty strong competition for the Sweden setup, Gyokeres plays in a proper league now and if he has a good season theres a possibility that Isak doesn't start if he just sulks for a year.

Let's be honest, if he's in black and white the stick lasts until he scores. We're thick as fuck with short memories us football fans

If he stays then the club needs to address it somehow, it can't all just revert to normal. That said, I think we must be fairly sure that Liverpool are about to put a bid in given how we're acting in the market.

This bit.

Also, amazing the reaction some players get from the football media/pundits when they've dicked their current clubs around when it's not affecting whether they end up at one of sky's chosen few, no 'disgraceful' comments or anything, you'll even get 'how good will Liverpool be?' type pieces. If this was Bowen at West Ham spitting his dummy out over a move to us we'd be called worse than shite as would the player, in our case most of the cunts are salivating on him joining Franchise Reds (Liverpool branch).

It fucking baffles me on here why people compare their lives to those of the footballers we are talking about.

Aye doubling your wages from 50k per year to 100k would be life changing, 100k  to 200k whatever, might well be worth putting up with a shit job and dragging yourself into work every day to deal with utter cunts.  But from what I can garner Isak is on about 6 Million quid a year now. Ffs when does the greed or need stop at those levels man?

When everyone's telling you you're the best in Europe/the world, and others in that conversation earn multiples of what you get, and win trophies most seasons, it's not greed. That's what you think you're worth.

And that is entirely missing the point.

And also since when did folk not make their own minds up without listening to ‘everyone’? I know I do and I’m pretty sure you do too. Pretty sure Alex has the nous to do so also . So greed and need mate.

No, you are missing the point. I'm not saying that he's receiving advice from "everyone", I'm saying that it is widely accepted that he is one of the best in the world. It's also a statement of fact that he's not being paid in line with the best in the world. And that his chances of being rewarded for his abilities in the form of tangible success are improved elsewhere.

It's therefore not greed to want that to be rectified.

I don't like for a second what's going on, and I think he could definitely have handled it better, but only by a) telling us sooner in the window, and b) not dropping out of his duties while he's still at the club.

The desire to leave is fairly understandable though, as unfortunate and unpalatable as that is for all of us.

He isn’t even the top earner at the club despite being its best player.

It can be both greed and understanding his worth. He earns less than Darwin Nunez, why wouldn’t he be annoyed at that fact?
