I'm with Howey. It's all the club's fault that Isak wanted to leave, left the country without permission and refused to take part in the pre-season after Liverpool used their media connections to destabilize the player, followed by an obviously disingenuous bid below the amount already touted to said media.

If only we'd explained to Isak that we intended to sign players. I would've taken it to be self-evident (even despite the evidence to the contrary  ) that the transfer window was for signing players. But, fair play, maybe we should've told him.

In fact, I'm now more concerned that maybe we didn't explain to Isak that we were going to Singapore for games of football and not a cheeky holiday with the lads. Not his fault he didn't turn up. But, I will say this though. Telling Isak he's not invited to family day BBQ because he's adopted was probably a step too far. Poor bastard will believe anything he's told.

Its complete sense- how can you blame Liverpool for our complete mess of a transfer window.

We seem more interested in one upmanship than strengthening our squad

When you cut the fat from this post- your issue is Liverpool bid for Isak?

Thats it.

Which appear to be the catalyst for a whole summer of us bumbling like fools.

Hope no-one bids for any of our players next summer

The "Isak to Liverpool" thing started after the Carabao cup final on social media. I got the impression some large anonymous accounts started to incessantly beat a drum about it and it ended up with Isak saying he wanted to leave. These accounts were, if you ask me, put up to it or created by Isak's agents who also spoke to LFC.  Yes Mitchell fucked up the new contract talks but a transfer needs a willing buyer...not sure if Liverpool were ever that keen at the price required once Isak's wishes were made public...

Liverpool made a pathetic bid for Isak. There was no real intention there

You could be right- I do think they will be back with at least one more bid. I just hopes its soon so we can draw a line under it and either spend the money or get Isak focused and fit

They've bid for a player- to be expected, whether its them or another club.

If thats enough to derail our pre-season more fool us.

Did we sit the key players down and explain our plans to strengthen and build on last season? No?

But we did have a barbecue

I wouldn't be blaming Liverpool for our utter ineptitude in this window.

Is anyone saying it’s the sole reason?
Because that would be as stupid as arguing it’s not a major factor

We have covered on here in excruciating detail all of the frustration and criticism of the board for the handling of our summer, so I don't think we can be accused of being blinkered about this  Liverpool have carried on like a pack of cunts throughout, lowball bids they know won't be accepted only to make it more painful for us, claiming they won't bid without encouragement from us then bidding anyway, chasing players we're after, etc.

But yes, ultimately Mitchell created much of this problem a year ago, and I am yet to convince myself he isn't on the payroll of one of the cartel.

Lots of clubs have their players bid for/heads turned etc.

Painful example would be Coutinho- Liverpool didn't want him to leave. They got the deal done and re-invested.

We had a a barbecue, lose out on multiple players and blame a "Cartel" etc etc

Its not a good look

I can believe this. We also forgot to tell Targett when we were going back home.

It was probably Mitchell’s job to count everyone on and off the plane, I knew we’d miss him when he was gone.

Who is it that we are trying to impress here, just so I'm clear  Presumably we're raining on some sort of parade?

Come on chaps- you can do better than this.

Our club is blowing its one chance of re-establishing itself as an Elite club and we seem entrenched in the belief that we do nothing wrong.

If we lose Isak and only sign Wissa and dont start well then Eddie will be under enormous pressure. We cant keep blaming Liverpool. We need to be decisive and act now
