As much as a frustrating window as it's been, PIF rejecting Liverpool out of hand is a good thing. Hope they stick to it wether we sign other strikers or not We can't force players to sign but we don't have to be Isak's bitch Edited August 9 by spongebob toonpants
aimaad22 6004
Aye, he would have been celebrated for decades by Newcastle fans even if he'd left had he conducted himself in a professional manner. I honestly thought he had a better head on him than this, what a disappointment. And what a cunt. Edited August 9 by aimaad22
Craig 12387
The fucking mess this has put us in on so many levels. I admire the club’s ownership for taking the stand they are. It’s a sad indictment these days that if a player decides he wants to leave and become difficult, he’ll ultimately get his wish. They’ve signed a contract, and a long one at that to guarantee their income - but sacrifices are made as a result and they can’t expect to change their mind halfway through a contract and expect to get their way. We probably will write off money taking this approach and absolutely will wave goodbye to the massive price we value him at - but he’s only worth that amount IF we’re willing to sell, and it’s clear we’re not. PIF I would assume have done the maths and decided they can afford to make an example of him. In Eddie, we’ve got a manager who is strong enough to manage the situation and ensure is operating in isolation irrespective of his talisman status. As for Liverpool. I keep reading how we’re not being fair on the player by not letting him have his dream - fuck him, and fuck you. Thanks to PSR we can’t afford the wages of a likeminded replacement. We would have be able to do so had several clubs in the wake of our takeover not successfully lobbied the Premier League about ensuring we couldn’t get sponsorship from within ourselves. Liverpool FC were at the very front of that lobbying queue. You brought this situation on yourselves. 14
trooper 1058
Reading what Howe said last night. My hope that he'd play for us again has gone out the window. So what do we do to punish him ? This is what I'd do. Keep him until January but bench him for all the 1st games of the Champions league, Carabo Cup & FA Cup. Don't play him just bench him essentially he'd be Cup tied for everything
Alex 42157
Liverpool came in with an offer that was £10m less they had previously suggested would be their opening bid. Then walked away. They’ve already signed a striker who is younger, has a similar style and takes up similar positions. A player they only went for after we tried to sign him. The way Liverpool have behaved in disrupting our preseason and also unsettling Isak means it would probably take a much improved offer or something like £90m + Curtis Jones for the NUFC ownership to even think about accepting it. And no one else has even bid for Isak. And it wouldn’t surprise me if Liverpool just leave it for this window. So where exactly does Isak think he should be allowed to leave for at the moment? I know he wants the Liverpool move, but him and LFC have painted themselves into a corner. I’d be looking at every possible angle in terms of fines and legal action / compensation if he refuses to play. Edited August 9 by Alex
Toonpack 15607
I'd take £90 mill and Jones in a heartbeat.
Isegrim 11895
I think Liverpool will come back but won’t improve their bid. They will think that we are desperate to sell and can’t afford keeping a player who doesn’t want to be here. But even if it won’t make any sense commercially I hope that we won’t cave in to demonstrate that we aren’t mere pushovers.

aimaad22 6004
Take the hit if necessary and have the prat rot on the bench. We need to set an example and let entitled arseholes like Liverpool as well as future players know this is not a place you come to fool around at. A few months on the sidelines in a world cup year and I suspect Isak's little head will come to its senses. He's not exactly 19. Totally agreed with PIF's stance here Edited August 9 by aimaad22
Isegrim 11895
Only read CN‘s piece after posting. At least the club seems to act sensible. Will be interesting to see how this will work out.

Chaser 1919
What an absolute prick he's been over this. I'm shocked because I don't think his attitude was ever in question before this Liverpool offer. Looking at his performances post cup we should have maybe forseen problems heading into the summer but this is Rashford levels of fucking about now. If he puts a transfer request in, does this force him a move or can we just block it?

PaddockLad 22508
If Liverpool are desperate for Isak (and there is good grounds for thinking they might be not be) then making them come and beg for him is the right tactic. It can also be viewed simultaneously as a strange tactic after we spent a week trying to sign a replacement for him . I think that's what Liverpool meant in their statement about not coming back till "Newcastle open the door again" ... they'll come back when that's achieved. If we've not signed anyone by the time we play the fuckers on bank holiday Monday it gets really interesting; they'll be 7 days of the window left. If we've signed a striker before then hes off...if not it's 50/50... the world cup is next summer. He'll undoubtedly want to play at as near to peak fitness/sharpness as he can. He's utterly tainted forever but circumstances may be that he actually just needs to get his arse in gear, get his head down and play.. I think the assumption we were actively looking for an immediate replacement is just that "an assumption". Noises from the hierarchy have been consistently "not for sale" we could just as easily have been looking to bolster our resources up front to really push on, on multiple fronts and future proofing too, the targets that you could consider "replacements" were all younger than the snake.
