It's embarrassing some of the comments about him.

Lads not even had a week of training with us yet.

If he misfires as a striker, Eddie will just turn him into a central midfield juggernaut tbh.

We could do with an extra keeper.

Reminded me a bit of Kane for England under Southgate at times. Where there were about 3 number tens playing but none of them seemed willing or able to run in behind him. Apart from me thinking Wissa will start (initially at least) as the centre forward, Woltemade won’t have that problem with Elanga, Barnes, Gordon and Murphy

Exactly, he'll have runners buzzing all around him with us, I think he'll be introduced off the bench for a while anyway until he's up to speed (Eddie fit).

There were loads of times he dropped into little pockets of space and was pointing for the ball to his feet, ball never came, it went sideways or backwards. With us he'll get those passes and there'll be runners available for the return.

Sounds like the system was completely wrong for him. From what I've read he definitely can't play as a lone striker and seems that he had very little support last night in a very poor German side. Not to say that he'll be a success for us but he'll be playing in a very different system.

Every German outlet I've seen, and obviously that Bayern director of football, are quoting his price at 90m euro. Are they really that petty as to stick another 10m on top, or are they just uninformed. But yeah, Germany are pretty woeful on the whole. Nagelsmann gets a big name as a great young coach, but they couldn't look much more disjointed. I trust Eddie to have a plan that makes full use of Woltemade's strengths as a player.

In other words, a but fruitless without a decent supply but deadly when you're knitted into a team that can supply?

Unlike some of the fucktards on X or Bluesky, I'll wait until he's playing in and amongst our squad before I judge him.

we need to be patient with this kid. he's 23, playing in a new league and a big price tag means big pressure on his shoulders. that comment on social media that wykiki posted is ridiculous. get in the fucking bin with that shite.

eddie will introduce him slowly. it's why we paid over the odds for wissa - he'll be first choice number 9 in the short term.

we bet a lot of money on potential - and sometimes it doesn't pay off - but our hit rate in the market since eddie came in is almost flawless and he's the best in the business at improving players.

the one question i have is whether this kid can play 9 or if the plan is to use him as a 10 behind wissa and tweak the formation to 4-2-3-1. i don't expect that to happen in the short term either but it's a good option to have if we need to switch thing up during a game.

I haven’t seen him play yet but I think he will come under undue scrutiny due to his size. Howe has already alluded to this when we signed him.

I feel a bit sorry for the lad. He is coming here with a very inflated fee compared to his value of 6 million euros eleven months ago and will be expected to be the new Isak by a lot of fans. He definitely looks a rough diamond at the moment, but at least we can have comfort knowing Eddie will get the best out of him and only play him when he thinks he's ready. He is also joining a tight knit group of players who will look after him. His confidence is wanting the ball is great to see as is his ability to find the right pass. May be the case that it takes him 6-12 months to get upto speed and that should be the expectations fans have.

The level of stupidity amongst our social media fanbase is ludicrous. If you were that way inclined you could lose entire days of your life arguing with these people, couldn't you Craig?

As soon as he scored that FK last night the commentator was saying that justified his price tag alone

so how does everyone (perhaps people who have watched him play more than i have) see us using him?

a number 9 in the kane mould, who drops deep at times to link play and get it wide to the likes of gordon and elanga?

or an out-and-out number 10, with wissa ahead of him?

i presume both are options given he started as a number 9 for germany.
