One thing I do wonder about a bit - and I could be wrong on this but still - we have a squad more capable of surviving the various challenges now, that's true - but we haven't had the time to do the training to form a cohesive unit. I would imagine every training period is largely reactionary and focused on the opposition ahead rather than getting better at what we do well.

 

Maybe the reality over and above everything else is that we need to start doing business much fucking earlier in the summer window so we can actually form a cohesive team without pressure, rather than trying to do so in the middle of a 60 game season.

Pathetic performance but set up to be that way. Can see what Howe was trying to do but it didn't work and he didn't try and change the tactics, Sunderland simply sat back.

 

This reserved energy ploy due to high number of games doesn't work. We look toothless and don't have the rat, with that ability to break or move away with nimble movement.

 

Full backs looked knackered but not sure Howe had any real choice.

 

Need a revitalisation of the squad in Janaury,  which is never easy to get right. 2 full backs and a creative 10/or striker required.

 

Pressing doesn't seem to exist at all anymore. Hanging my hat on the hope there is injection of new personnel because something has to change. 

 

Not sure who said it recently but I actually can't remember a game I've enjoyed this season, where watching fluid football. Battered Everton and have had a few solid results but we have never looked remotely breathtaking like we often did last year.

 

I think we have to rest both full backs in the week as well as Woltemade and Bruno.
