  1. Past hour
  2. Let's hope everyone's off the boil again next season and we can have a season like Liverpool then. I'd definitely take a league win like theirs.
  3. agree with that. they're the least impressive league winners in a long time. winning a lot of games without playing massively impressive football and benefitting from a late-career golden season from salah. i wouldn't be surprised if they drop off next season as the teams in the pack below improve and age catches up with some of their senior players who are now sitting on massive new contracts.
  4. Sunderland used to be top side & they produced a lot of the top English talents + players who’d go on to have success with other clubs. However they were kicked under the bus when the mens team started to fail. Durham Women are the university team so are very well off funnily enough.
  5. Saw Dyche being interviewed by Neville and his gang and they asked him "VAR yes or no?" and he said for him it's a yes. He said it's not a yes for the fans, cos he understands that it's not a great experience, but he said pre VAR no one can tell him that the big teams didn't get all the decisions. He was saying he saw it at Burnley but he'd also watch games and think there's no way we are getting that decision at Burnley. There's still bias in VAR, but I think it's definitely helped a bit in that regard. Anyway refreshing to hear someone in the game say it instead of just toe the line.
  6. It all adds up, yellow cards not given which would've produced a second yellow and a red etc and is a another small reason why certain clubs have done so well over the years, now you've also got ridiculous differing payments from UEFA for finishing in the same positions based on old seasons past, where is the meritocracy or fairness in that? I genuinely don't know how it's not called out more but broadcaster and the media in general are complicit.
  7. Also, their heads must be on the verge of exploding at the fact that Durham has a team that isn't Sunderland and they're also better than them.
  8. @PaddockLad just read your post. sorry to hear the news about your other half. my mrs went through similar during the pandemic. she's still on the happy pills today and if her experience is anything to go by, your wife doesn't necessarily need to come off them. they've been genuinely transformative for my wife and help keep her "balanced" several years later. i wish your mrs all the best navigating this period. it can feel pretty hopeless when you're going through something like that - it's not easy to know what to do or say as a spouse either.
  9. Thankfully none of the clampets will be able to afford guns once the impact of his tariffs and other absolutely mental economic policies truly take effect. The guns they have will not be maintained because the cloths and oils and whatever the fuck else you need to clean and maintain a gun outside of what I know of (all learned from Red Dead 2) will be shipped from overseas and subject to mental rates. It might be Civil War 2 fought with sticks and stones.
  10. Before that. Clubs used to sign players months before the season finished and loan then back to the club they'd bought them from. Alan Smith did that with Leicester/Arsenal and we did it with John Robertson who stayed with Hearts for another 6 months. In the good old days when we had one transfer deadline day .... in March.
  11. Agreed - there's so many teams in far better positions looking for someone in that role - us, Forest, Arsenal, Chelsea, Villa.
  12. Today
  13. That's harsh on the macaque tbf.
  14. The reality is they've won the league, and that's it. But they haven't won the league, others have lost it this season. Arsenal are nearest challengers and drawn 14 matches. We're currently next and lost 11. Liverpool can win a maximum of 26 matches. The last time they won the league in 19/20 they won 32 matches. Let them have their moment, but they're not a team that is a million miles ahead of us, neither are Arsenal. And yes, I've stuck a bet on us to win the PL next season - 12/1 odds
  15. Reminds me of the gold Northern Rock shirt design (05-07?)
  16. This one passed me by. Weren't they supposed to have a women's team that would shit all over us? No doubt it's because of blood money.
  17. Hope the almost semi-virtually-permanent Mrs PL is on the road to recovery, Rob. I've had at least two jobs for life which considering where I started the journey as just about the most naive, stupid teenager to leave school with the barest of bare GCSEs was a massive result, a bit of luck and a bit of hard graft the hard way through my own initial naivety. Sometimes it's hard getting out of it, sometimes, even when you sort it out but you know it's not right it can also be dispiriting, 2024 was a mental year job wise where I was very fortunate to have a decent lumpa from redundancy and a new official status as carer that allowed me the good fortune of sucking it and seeing if you like plus a knowledge I had time on my side if it didn't work out to not do what I'd done for years, sometimes unhappily. My last job was at a factory in December, in team valley, getting up at 4.40 one week out of two, quite a few foreigners, (nothing wrong with that in itself but tells you that people dont like the job much), then I discovered I could go part time through the wife's claim for a UC payment we could've had years ago. In between Christmas and new year a job pops up on my doorstep, I apply, get it, it's a totally different job to my usual, is usually a piece of piss with little stress and I've been there since early march whilst waiting for a DBS to come through. Things can change in a day but they usually don't and it's hard when you're in it. As PL rightly says, sometimes you're ahead, sometimes you're not but the logical part of your brain will know this as much as the worry part of your brain will go into worry mode and they're both correct and doing their jobs.
  18. Players can sign but not change registration until the window opens. Where have you been for the last...when did transfer windows come in?
  19. It’s all preparation for when he refuses to leave office when his term is up. He’ll have his armed muppets fully convinced he’s the answer to all their woes ( and cheaper than penile enlargement surgery), and it’ll be Jan 6th II - The Sequel. This time I’d say there’ll be a lot more bloodshed, on both sides. He’ll be watching from his golf course.
  20. Trump (well, the US federal government) has given her family $5m despite the officer involved being cleared of any wrongdoing.
  21. How are players completing transfers when the window isn't even open yet?
  22. I guarantee they’re not - particularly if they have a wife and kids
  23. One for the SMB catalogue. Sat watching the match in this Irish bar on Sunday. Three mackem lads come in (hoodies from some gym/boxing club saying “Made in Sunderland” or something similar) about ten minutes before our game kicked out, spent all the game rooting and cheering for Arsenal and then left at full time. You’ve got to laugh
