  1. The good thing though is that you guys have some fucking amazing stories... no story anyone else has can compare to the time that one guy came in with a cucumber stuck up his arse
  2. They were from Essex as well like, which may have contributed.
  3. My partner and I went on holiday last year with 5 people who work in various NHS positions. Barely understood a word
  4. Surely extractions are pretty safe - sure they could be incorrectly conceived and lead to poor conclusions being drawn, but the extraction itself isn't going to compromise the system. Or have you seen things that would suggest otherwise? I agree on coding in general though.
  5. If you do it, it gives you more options in the future. If you have time and motivation, something like this is always worth doing IMO.
  6. The BBC have just posted a stat for Anthony Martial - he's played a full 90 minutes at senior level 4 times in his career. He's going to look like a disaster of a buy this season, even if he turns out to be some kind of superstar in the future. Hope he's a confident lad.
  7. WHam are really unpredictable this season so who knows how this'll go. I think I could accept a draw if we're not playing in backs to the wall mode. If we look expansive and creative then I'll be satisfied. I think I this result should give us the first real indication of how our season is going to pan out.
  8. I have to admit that I sometimes have to bring extractions into Excel for Vlookups and things but I'd otherwise agree. Once you know how to write the extraction, SQL is really logical. Excel is a nightmare by comparison.
  9. The good thing about SQL is that not everyone in your workplace is going to know it, and it allows you to get unique extractions out of the system which your co-workers wouldn't otherwise be able to produce. This in turns allows you to draw correlations that your managers may not know about. All of which looks good. I don't think there's every any harm in self improvement - I don't have a qualification for SQL for instance, but I spent 2 years learning it as I went along and have a pretty strong grasp now - at least insofar as being able to surpass everyone else in my organisation anyway, which means senior management tend to include me in things that I may not otherwise be party to.
  10. The other fringe benefit is that you'll personally feel more able to get the job. But yeah, good luck with it!
  11. Has almost pushed me to a PS4...might still eventually. another couple of decent games and I'll probably go for it. This looks really good, although IGN's 10/10 score is probably a bit much...

    Happy Birthday Alex and HMHM!
  13. I would take it into consideration personally and it would certainly make your application for a position more attractive. Any manager would be stupid not to take these things into consideration. For an internal position though, you've got to also factor in office politics and your general ability at your job. For instance, what do you do now, and what are you hoping to be promoted into?
  14. Surely you've got to question the timing on this one - they could have waited a week until the election was confirmed. This is the BBC playing fast and loose with impartiality.
  15. Diaby's been out for over 6 years of his career...seriously? That's crazy...
  16. What the shit Is that for real?
  17. Can someone answer something on all of this for me - why is this all just happening now? Have I missed some kind of major event that's kicked all of this off, or were the press just bored a couple of weeks ago and decided to make a story out of something that's been going on for years?
  18. She gendered the debate way too early and lost my attention pretty much as soon as she did. It didn't help either that she'd not come up with any solid policies by the time I actually voted. Before it all started she was the one I was going to vote for, but she's made such a general fuck up of her campaign that I lost faith and stopped listening.
  19. I feel kinda bad for finding that funny.
  20. Let me get this right, I<3DC has been away from these boards for a bout 6 months and turns up again because he thinks Borini is that impressive a capture, it's worth gloating about. Fuck off man. You've signed a guy who couldn't get a game ahead of Balotelli last year. This might actually be the most depressing chain of posts I've seen him make. Trying to find joy in absolutely fuck all. It's like the problem Sunderland has on a citywide scale, personified in a single knacker.
  21. Being fair though, he did get 7 goals that season he was on loan with them. Hugely impressive number. To put it into context, when Shola was the same age playing for us, he also managed 7 goals in 25 games (26 to be exact) when he was the same age (as Borini was two years ago). They've spent £10m on their own version of Shola.
