  1. Reminds me of past pub quiz name, Peter Sutcliffe and the Hammers.
  2. http://www.thefa.com/england/all-teams/staff/simon-smith
  3. I trained with Simon Smith at Chester Le Street when I was a kid. He seemed a decent bloke and coach to a 13 year old me.
  4. It was one of the reasons Colo was a good defender in the past, he was never the quickest, strongest or tallest but he had the intelligence to make up for it, the exact fucking opposite of Steven Taylor, who had the physical attributes but none of the mental ones. Organisation and systems etc. get you so far in football (see Pulis' teams for example). Think my point is we desperately need at least one more quality intelligent center back, two if Williamson hopefully leaves.
  5. I think I have said this before but one of the most underrated attributes of a class footballer is intelligence (not real life intelligence but on a pitch e.g. Gazza). You can have all the physical attributes or technical attributes you like but if you can't think outside the box, blindly follow what the manager says or have small moments of inspiration then you will not likely make it. We have very few of these players IMO. I am hopeful that the new players (especially Wijnaldum) have this about them.
  6. Opening a bar/pub/restaurant would be cool but I would be dead in a year or two, or least 50 stone. I could always pay for some PI and PL insurance and pimp myself as a consultant but it means being nice to clients, cba.
  7. They come to the UK because apparently its easier to work illegally here. Heard it on the radio, no idea how true that is. If it is only 2k people, take some of the queens properties off her and make them into boarding houses.
  8. Aye it's not what I would do, or even what I think McClaren will do. Just an example.
  9. Formations are never as rigid on the pitch as they are when they are written down, or at least they shouldn't be. We could quite easily play a 442 if we bought Austin for example; Janmaat Mbemba Colo Haidara Sissoko De Jong Colback Aarons Mitrovic Austin Sissoko tucks into allow Janmaat to provide width, Haidara doesn't fly forward as much, hopefully leaving Aarons 1v1 with the fullback. Systems only carry you so far, you need intelligent players who understand their role, abilities and limitations. This is a bigger struggle than playing 442 or 433 for us at the moment.
  10. Colback is a below average, lower premiership midfielder. Doesn't do anything particularly well, but isn't offensively bad. If everyone was fully fit and playing well, I would go for Tiote Wijnaldum Sissoko De Jong Cabella Mitrovic
  11. http://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/teams/newcastle-united/9925629/mcclaren-expects-coloccini-to-stay Anyone think this sounds a bit like we aren't doing anymore business?

    Hangovers

I can't handle it any more, I generally take at least a day to recover. I am going out later tonight for a friends birthday, I have taken Monday off in prep. Only 30 and long gone are the day of getting pissed up on a Thursday and "going" to uni on a Friday.
  13. If that is the four we have I would go Colo and suppose Mbemba (without seeing him play). I have seen Lascelles play and he has all the physical attributes to be a success but I wouldn't want to rely on him for an extended period. I think Taylor is adequate but as noted, is regularly injured. So I would prefer another choice.
  14. Also would keep Colback as backup unless we replaced him with a better player. I probably didn't word my original post properly, I would be fine with Colback being 4/5th choice central midfielder. Not starting every game he is fit for.
  15. Well ideally I would peddle Williamson, and sign another central defender as well as Mbemba. Meaning Taylor could be relied on if necessary/fit as a 4th choice but I can't imagine either of those things happening.
  16. Fair share of work martyrs in our office, get some right looks if you aren't at the desk at half 8 and leave before 5. Well fuck those old cunts, I have flexi time.
  17. Steven Taylor is at least a passable premier league centre back when fit. I don't think Anita is a world beater by any means. I also said I would only get rid of Colback if he was properly replaced. I think last season we saw the sum total of Colback's ability. The younger lads would hopefully be loaned out, like I said. If everyone was fit and playing at their best none of the three would get in my first 11 anyway.
  18. Bringing the romance there mate, cheers
  19. Out of all the hobbies in the entire world, everything you can think of from stamp collecting to base jumping, has anyone ever thought "I fancy metal detecting". Its just dogging without the fun stuff.
  20. Yes! Hard to describe but not grabbing me like the last. TBF I have just been listening to Fat White Family for about a year so my taste might be off.
