What if England is High France? (Any excuse for that emoticon)

Generic small time football blather thread FOREVER
Renton replied to Sonatine's topic in Newcastle Forum
Urghh. Just switched the telly on to the scene of Rashford scoring. Looks like we'll have to beat these cunts if we're to lift the cup. -
When you live in Sunderland I guess all you can do is either get out and disown your past (if you're sensible) or develop a fervent imagination. I mean our equivalent would be something like: Imagine Sunderland get relegated from the preimiership. Then imagine they are so shit in the second tier they end up bottom of the league with various comical club carry on. Then imagine they have to beat Burton to avoid relegation to League 1, the very team they used to take the piss out of us. THEN imagine that Darren Bent of all people scores the deciding goal which relagates them. THEN imagine a film crew actually filmed this for posterity and it viewed on the most popular streaming serivce. I mean, even in my most fervent imagination I doubt I could conjure such a scenario. Oh.

He looks like he's just teleported in there and is thinking "Wor zum teufel bin ich? Wer zum fickin sind diese leute?". No doubt I've fucked up my jorman.

Case in point to what I said earlier. There's a thread now on SMB being which would they prefer, getting promoted or winning the FA cup. Think its fair to say either scenario is unlikely. Then the immediately think of us. I can honestly say, I would much rather we won the league cup, even if they lifted the FA cup. This to me just proves they are happy as long as we don't do well. Well, tough titty, all the imaginings in the World now aren't stopping us.

It's very odd. I've said this before but honestly, hand on heart, I am perfectly happy to objectively consider them on their merits. They've done better than I thought they would. They are very unlikely to get relegated and have an outside chance of reaching the play offs (although to me it looks like more established teams will pip them to it). They played well against Boro, although I would note that imo they were lucky for the penalty which Stewart dived for, and their second goal was well taken by a ManU player (I think?). But that team did not play more attractive football than us, and they would be embarassed by us if we played them. That's clearly the state of play at this moment in time, forgetting about ownership. But do they give us any credit at all? No, despite mountains of evidence to the contrary, we're just a team of flukey hoofers. Despite out goal diffeerence (showing we also score goals), despite returning frequently to goal of the month, despite now having one of the best defences in premiership history, they are so bitter they can't give credit where its due. And then that fucking moron of an admin on their Keith states some bollocks how Newcastle fans no nowt about football, despite him having said (lied) he's only watched us in one match this season. We "play awful" football is their latest crutch and its demonstrably bollocks. The thing is, as you say, this just makes it funnier. We're not haqving a purple patch which is going to end like with Pardew, our trajectory is in one direction only, its just happening much faster than I ever dared believe possible. I'm pretty confident we will reach the LC final and I will be more confident of winning it when we are than I was in 97 or 98. They still bang on about Felling criciket club (!) having a blue manchester day when they got to the final. I would put my mortgage on the house the whole of Weirdside will be like a mental asylum on final day if we get there, I mean even more than normal. Suck it up, marras.

The answer is in the comments below. The main bottleneck now is there is not enough placements, so junior doctors have nowhere to go. You've got to appreciate that more than any other profession, being a secondary care doctor requires continual professional development well after leaving university. So of course using tory logic, better to stop more young doctors being taught (which is a cost saving) than actually expand the health service to employ them (which would cost a fortune). There is no joined up thinking with this government, they can't manage complex entities like the NHS even if they wanted to.

They were/are upset about Look North and poor Dawnie in particular last night 20 hours before its broadcast. As for Trafalgar square, wtf? Is this a thing with our fans or just theirs? It would never cross my mind to go to any of these places before the match. In 2000 I got to London quite early by train and went for a nice walk in Hyde park, never heard anything about gatherings at any tourist spots. It the oddest thing ever to get upset over. "They'll nevva tayyke Trafalgaaa Square from us marra!"

And finally for today, here's a lovely example of a mackem imagining stuff again and getting angry about it. I mean I've heard about getting your excuses in early but getting upset in advance like this about what we might say (*we definitely won't) about an imaginary event.

It's from a "striker" so doubt it

First rule of RTG now is they're not allowed to talk about us because they're apparently not bothered, so all posts have to removed to mega-compendium thread on a members only forum. So instead they have to start threads which are nothing about us, oh no, where they can talk about us. What a job afmin have in that madhouse.
-
Also here is a lovely bit of mackem logic. "If you ignore our multiple games where we have been shit marra, we've been brilliant " Absolutely tapped.

There's post after post about us smashing up Trafalgar Square on there. Some imagined scenario should we get to the final. Completely oblivious to the real life reality of what these lot have done repeatedly in recent years during their tin pot cup finals or Lower league play offs. They are absolutely mental.

Hmm, something like: Southampton were shit. We were boring and parked the bus. Joelinton's goal rightfully chalked off. Pope should have been sent off. Joelinton's goal was jammy. Armstongs goal should have stood. We're a lucky shithouse team. Eddie Howe has a face you wouldn't get tired of punching. Hope Guimares does his cruciate. Sunderland would have beaten Southampton by at least 3. Our songs are shit and we don't sing anyway. What else? Oh yeah, we kill children.

Well I had to look that up. He looks a bit like you tbh. In response to Alex, (btw ther is potential spoilers here just in case anybody hasn't watched BB), I don't think Walt's transformation is at all unbelievable as it's so perfectly paced and I can see his rationale at every point. He's been dealt a shit sandwich in life and then gets a diagnosis of terminal cancer. With literally nothing to lose he transforms himself under the bogus inner claim he's doing it for his family, and attempts to justify his transformation at each step on the way. First manufacturing meth, well why not? If he doesn't others will and anyway the pharma companies are no better extorting their patients with new chemotherapy drugs. Then he kills Krazy 8 in cold blood. Well it was him or them. Then he lets Jane die, and at this point he is just beyond redemption, but he still keeps trying to justify himself. He's a good man, it's just the circumstances he is in. It's all for his family. Which he finally admits is bullshit only in the last episode. He did it for himself, nobody else. And the same story is told but with a different ending for Jimmy McGill, but you can throw in that BCS is actually a beautiful love story as well. So for me it is one hell of a morality tale which begs so many philosophical questions about who we all really are. Was Walt inherently evil all the time or did his circumstances actually change him to the monster he became? It's the ordinariness of Walt's baseline state that fascinates me. Whereas in the Soprano's, episode 1, Tony is an established fucking cunt. I'm guessing he's not going to get any better, maybe he will get worse. I've a lot to go through before I find out, and obviously can't make a comparison between the two if I don't. If I ever get a terminal diagnosis btw, the World had better look out @Gemmill.
