  1. Well descending to their level is one of my concerns. If the Republicans have the presidency, both houses, and the supreme court, and given Trump's comments on democracy are you 100% even sure there will be a next time? Strikes me that the US could be following the path of Russia where democracy is at best an illusion and the country is ran by "broligarchs".
  2. Yep, never seen an explosions in Belfast.
  3. Think Benjamin Button is a fantasy mate.
  4. Me too, I convinced myself of it. Not just abortion, there are states now where they are finding it hard to recruit obs and gynae consultants meaning woman's helathcare and child birth is compromised.
  5. Agreed it was the economy and bad communication, but regarding the latter, I don't know how a modern progressive political party can adapt to the new communication landscape dominated by bad actors. I mean let's not rewrite history here. Until this morning, it felt like Harris had run a good campaign. What should she have done differently?
  6. This looks like fucking religious shit which is the cause of the current problem, as usual.
  7. I think gender is a big issue for Americans, it does appear to be mysogynistic country. CLinton, now Harris. They appear to want "strong" leaders which the majority associate with being male. I don't think we will see another female candidate in our life times unfortunately (I am assuming for now there will be another election which I am not sure of).
  8. Why is everyone being so literal today?
  9. Its a simile not a literal comparison mate. As in blaming Harris, and not Trump, for what is about to happen. To suggest I have in some way insulted the victims of rape is utterly ridiculous.
  10. Don't most people worry about their cancer risk occasionally? I'm getting a PSA test and I'm a bit worried tbh. Maybe 8m the only one who worries about things I can't affect, but I doubt it. At least I admit it.
  11. Is this a serious question? We all worry all the time over things we have iittle or no control over. If I get terminal cancer, I'm going to be worried, fuck all I can do about it. Worry is a normal part of life for most people. Yeah, I have anxiety which makes it worse, I do appreciate that.
  12. It's not a good way to live, I know. But unfortunately I just can't live my life in ignorance no matter what I try. Wish I could. BTW, I don't think for a second you can either. It's not the point I'm making though. There is a reality, a truth, and you'll be affected by it whether you recognise it or not. Maybe you can block your mind to it, good for you. But one day it will come knocking at the door. Edit: take last night. I sensed things weren't good at midnight. Gave myself a media blackout for 7 hours. 7 am shit is more real than ever. And I couldn't even sleep in those 7 hours.
  13. Ah, okay then. I mean I suppose if your perspective is literally day to day, you might not notice the incremental changes, if you remember to forget what yesterday was like. What a silly thing to say.
  14. When you said today, you were being literal? You will be affected in the future, by a possie multitude of ways some of which I have described. The US is simply too big to be ignored unfortunately.
  15. I think you're missing the point. You can do all these things, or try to. It will still affect you though. Whether it's a Russian nuke, a storm or flood worsened by climate change, your finances wrecked through the world economy realigning, or the rise of fascism on your door step. The cunt has won the presidency, Senate, house of representatives, the Supreme Court and the popular vote. Trump is unhinged and there are theocratic autocrats in the wings. The World is a different darker place than it was. The enlightenment is in reversal. It will affect your day to day life, whether you like it or not. And definitely affect your children.
  16. Yeah, it's the people that depress me most. Embracing autocracy is one thing, but embracing it for such an obvious narcissistic psychopath is something else. Not just the US. Signs of this cancer in Europe including the UK. Europe needs to get it's act together or the last bastion of civilisation will die. Dark times.
  17. Aye, this. Empowering autocrata everywhere, rise of fascism Ukraine, the ME, world economy, climate change. You may want to ignore it, but you won't be able to.
  18. You can and should ignore social media. Your life will still be affected though, Starmer can't protect you against that.
  19. In my case, I am never visiting the US and utterly determined to get a job for a company that is not owned by Americans. I don't do social media but it is impossible to ignore Trump imo any more than ir was possible to ignore Hitler.
  20. This is akin to victim blaming. Blame the woman for being weak and not the rapist. It's not the Democrats who are to blame here and their educated urban voters. It's the fascist, mysognystic, racist Republican Party led by Trump and voted for by gullible rural Hill Billies.
  21. What? No it doesn't. This affects your day to day life whether you bury your head in the sand or not. I am profoundly concerned and sick to the stomach. It's the end of US democracy as we've known it, a real turn into a dark dystopian future.
  22. At a granular level, turnout is high in blue areas which is good.
  23. You can just tell this comes from years of being an accountant.
