  1. Apparently the Sunday Times thinks it’s a big deal that Starmer supposedly offered peerages to the likes of Abbott if they stood down. Did they make the same song and dance about Johnson giving a seat in the Lords to the son of an KGB colonel? Genuine question as it seemed to be a long time after the event that even became newsworthy
  2. https://www.electoralcalculus.co.uk/prediction_main.html Yep, Sunak certainly seems to be making a remarkable comeback going off the above
  3. Except they dumped the manager who turned things round for them. They’ve definitely got potential with the players and financial clout etc. but if they keep binning good managers who don’t achieve instant success (in the eyes of their owner) it makes things really hard to sustain. Especially when you have us, Man Utd, Villa and Spurs to compete with before you even think about challenging Arsenal, Liverpool or Man City
  4. The poll tracker in the Guardian shows there’s been an uptick, from an already very strong position, for Labour and a slight uptick for the Tories too. They aren’t therefore, taking anything away from Labour but would appear to have taken a small percentage back from Reform. But, to repeat what I’ve previously said, there are no dramatic changes at all and there hasn’t been any for months and months. Obviously you’d expect the Telegraph to outright lie but Kuennsberg’s determination to change the narrative in the middle of an election campaign is a disgrace. Fortunately no one seems to pay her much heed
  5. Fish’s performance begs the question - what do they know of football, who only football know?
  6. The equally funny alternative version of these fables is when someone is wearing a Sunderland top at JFK Airport/the Pyramids of Giza/Hanging Gardens of Babylon and they are accosted by people who tell them they saw STID and are now MLFs. Which is, of course, completely different because they are MASSIVE
  7. They were headed to Backworth Club at the time.
  8. I don’t know. This saga is pretty good
  9. I don’t see it happening but it would be funny as fuck if the few remaining Tories weren’t even the main opposition. As it stands loads of the current ones are ministers in one form or another. With this comes an additional salary. The same is true for the official leader of the opposition, shadow cabinet, etc. But, iirc, you don’t get anything bar the prestige for being the leader, spokespersons, etc for the other parties. It would be hilarious anyway though. And if the polls are wildly positive for Labour it also shows stuff like Diane Abbott thing, whilst being of interest to people like us who follow politics quite closely, means very little to your average punter. And Labour just need to maintain their current position anyway to have an enormous majority
  10. If I was the other leaders I would only go on if everyone else was a party leader. I don’t think any of them have anything to gain by going up against Farage. He’ll try to make all about him because that’s all he ever does. I’d argue the case from the pov as to wanting to know what the Reform leader has to hide and why they won’t go on instead.
  11. So that’s what happened to Smooth Operator. I wonder if he’ll get Wacky Jnr on the payroll
  12. Feel sorry for the people whose livelihoods are being messed with. But otherwise, couldn’t happen to a nicer club
  13. She sounds pissed tbh (as well as absolutely mental, which goes without saying). Fortunately she’s got next to no influence and is unlikely to have much in the future
  14. You would think he’d be well down the pecking order fir a future seat. The only reason the likes of Lee Anderson got a seat so quickly after joining the Tories (after previously being involved with Labour) is because he stood in a seat he wasn’t expected to win. Also, by and large, ex-MPs remain ex-MPs. Definitely good for Labour in terms of getting the Abbott story to die down a bit too. Even though I don’t think that is anything close to being a game changer
  15. That’s joining the party rather than standing as a candidate this time round though
  16. Probably shouldn’t post this but fuck it. *Allegedly* a certain minister, still in receipt of their ministerial salary has took the huff. They handed in their ministerial box, IT kit etc and have gone back to their constituency. This is after the shock and subsequent anger at the snap election being called. Apparently, upon hearing that announcement, they were seen at their local railway station asking constituents to join them in prayer for a Tory election victory. Alan Partridge meets The Thick of It.
  17. BBC got Diane Abbott as the main headline again today I see
  18. I like it when used on jungle tracks but otherwise, not so much
  19. I nearly put (Pedro 3pm Dub) after ‘Obviously’
  20. I couldn’t watch the Jimmy McGovern tv film about Hillsborough. I started and it made me too upset and angry. Sorry to hijack this slightly, Craig. Thanks for sharing your feelings. Same with you, Fish. Please use this place for this sort of thing if helps you, everyone. Don’t bottle shit up. It’s bad for you. Even if it’s not here, speak to someone
  21. He would never ignore anything like that. The odious fucking creep. Imagine making it your life’s work to be hero worshipped by incels
  22. A dub is a version / remix of a track. It’s sometimes an instrumental but will at least emphasise the musical (especially drums / bass) elements over the lyrics. It comes from being short for ‘double’ as in remix, usually a B side of the original. The name comes from Lee Scratch Perry who would do bass heavy versions of reggae tracks with spacey synths and less or no vocals. This sound became the reggae sub-genre known as ‘Dub’. 8am here probably refers to the remix being a more chilled ‘post club’ version. And Nush are the remixers, known for their ‘Handbag House’ productions like ‘U Girls’. Obviously
