  1. give him a new contract and hire whoever he wants as his no 2
  2. aye, fair play to barton this season - he's impressed, finally. can't see routledge getting back into the side anytime soon.
  3. respect to the fenham pele. he's looked good the last couple of seasons now tbf to him
  4. now, we've all had our criticisms to make but fair play to him, he was excellent today. he arguably still doesn't do enough off the ball but with tiote mopping up next to him, he's less of a passenger. and you can't argue when he keeps popping up with goals. keep it up skipper!
  5. chris. big up yourself. fully deserved the hughton wonderland chorus. give the man a new contract. what more does he need to do? big name managers aren't always the answer.
  6. don't change a winning side... first rule of management. nice to see us go for it with two up front.
  7. my flatmate said she looked like a cabbage patch doll. She had a pet lip on when they were rowing on the step of the t-shirt shop. Liz is the front-runner now I would say, very successful task for her. she has all the natural confidence of a fit bird. the dyke was awful and deserved to walk, though her unique vocabulary was amusing.
  8. i'm 4 weeks without a snout now. best run i've had in a while. real test will be the christmas pissup season, which is just around the corner.
  9. sounds like a right loser tbh. the only game i play these days in pro evo - and only when the boys are over and the wives are all busy. i always found video games more of a group social thing. a few beers/smokes and a few games with the lad. can't imagine playing any games on my own these days. even if i wanted to, the wife wouldn't allow it. i used to quite like champ man back in the day mind.
  10. i didn't fancy the dark tower books at first. i've never really been into sci-fi books that much. are they worth a go then?
  11. send him a dossier. don't forget to flag all the best golf courses in the area
  12. i only just discovered his books relatively recently. bloody brilliant writer. misery scared the shit out of me; i couldn't sleep after reading the axe and blow torch chapter - so savage that it was toned down for the film. the shining, carrie, the long walk, the stand, the running man, low men in yellow coats, rita hayworth and the shawshank redemption, the body, it - all brilliant. i'm on a mission to read all his best works. any fans out there? what do you think is his best effort?
  13. green zone. good - 7/10 iron man 2. meh - 4/10 it's complicated. wife's choice. better than i thought it'd be - 6/10
  14. roy of the rovers was mint like. hot shot hamish and mighty mouse, the goalkeeper and billy's boots. class
  15. you pay peanuts, you get monkeys
  16. Was definitely Bonkers in 95, and did you have a PJ paintballing incident in Byker Grove, because as JAWD rightly pointed out it always had strippers on a weekend. well perhaps it was before your time but when i started going to saturdays, it wasn't called bonkers and there definitely weren't any titties on display on the thursday indy night i used to go to. i would remembered that given i was only a bairn at the time. never went there on a weekend though. it was the shindig at the riverside for us in those days.
  17. i used to go the saturday then upstairs to planet earth for the indy night on thursdays around 95-97. there were never any strippers around in them days. it definitely changed its name to bonkers stevie. i thought you would have known that being the board's resident uber geordie
  18. Saturdays and bonkers was the same place wasn't it? The bar under planet earth. Can't remember either having strippers. Is this match going to sell out?
  19. Anyone agree a draw will be a decent result given our home form?
  20. Top yourself you miserable cunt. It's people like you that make me ashamed to be geordie. What interest and excitement is anyone gonna get out that post, you total mug. ashamed to be a geordie? i'm genuinely disappointed. not with the performance or the result; it was expected with the team we put out. i just would have liked to see us put out a stronger side than the one we did. i know managers now are obsessed with rotating players in different competitions but i don't think we have that luxury when you haven't won a trophy for as long as us. that arsenal side was strong but still a way off their best side. we had a real chance to do something int his competition this year but no it's gone for another year. do you think a club like ours like ours should be resting so many players for the league cup? i know preier league survival is the main objective but it's been that long since we won owt and this is the one we have a real chance of winning.
  21. another season, another cup exit. the years since our last major trophy roll on. shame we didn't out a stronger side out really. the draw doesn't look too bad from here.
  22. fucking typical that we draw arsenal the season they start taking this competition seriously.
  23. the only issue is his personality and fitness record, though the latter seems to have improved in recent seasons. the problem with his personality is it has stopped him reaching his potential. he has been at some big clubs but has always been moved on swiftly - mainly because he winds people up. i think we were the club he had his longest spell at. i wonder if he'll look back at his time with us as his best years. if he'd kept his head down and mouth shut, i'm sure he'd have won the trophies a player of his ability deserved but when you look at the lack of medals come the end of his career, you have to ask whether he is world class given his massive potential. i'd still take him back like, no doubt about it. you'd have to wonder how long him and barton would last alongside each other.
  24. agree, though i think simpson should be first choice there for now. perch has looked shaky all season. simpson did a decent enough job last year. he's got a bit of pace too. i think he has more potential of the two. whether he can cut it at this level remains to be seen but he deserves a crack at it.
  25. top player. if we had him up front alongside carroll and a fit ben arfa in the side for the majority of the season, i'd fancy a top 8 finish.
