there's a nice diverse mix at glasto this year. i'd go if you could still hop over the fence and i didn't have a newborn baby to look after. Wu Tang Clan live? SICK Beyonce - HELL YEAH! (just so i can see her shake her big booty in the flesh) DJ Shadow Plan B Primal Scream The Streets Carl Cox Miles Kane Kool and the Gang Chase and Status Claude Von Stroke Krafty Kuts Sub Focus Photek even paul simon would be a good crack. apparently he's playing his greatest hits set. the old simon and garfunkel stuff would be awesome on the sunday afternoon nursing a sore head with a few biftas. tbh though, if i was going i'd probably do what i did last time i went and spend most of my time getting mashed on the fringes and on the green fields and not seeing anywhere near that many acts.

Player with 1 year left on his deal, be nice to cover all the bases (for a change) would be a good buy as back up to enrique. more than likely his replacement though, don't you reckon?
-
so this thread was a joke?
-
ming. is that official like? think we had another thread with the same mock up
-
hold your horses, not sure you can say that lot are the best in the land just yet. fair play to your owners though, at least they're showing some ambition.
-
yup, agree with all of that. obviously i hope that the owners prove us wrong but they've done nowt so far to suggest the next transfer window won't be another massive let down. to be fair, i don't think any of us even expect all of the carroll money to be reinvested, just some of it. if we did sell enrique for 10-15m say in addition to the 35m we got for carroll, we could invest half of that and extend contracts for the likes of barton and nolan and we'd have a decent squad. none of us really expect them to go out and spunk 50m on players. the sad thing is i can't see him spending even £10m net, despite all the cash they've made on players recently.
-
lettign him go was another stupid decision by ashley. he's not the best player but the squad is so short of quality, not to mention players with pace that can take people on. he'd definitely have started a bunch of games for us if we hadn't let him go.

reasons why we hate mike ashley off the top of my head - feel free to add to this list appointing dennis wise as a director of football, allowing him to totally undermine keegan selling milner against keegan's wishes then replacing him xisco and gonzales - players the manager didn't want and who wise had scouted by 'watching him on youtube' appointing joe kinnear, after keegan walked - a man who last worked in football in 1925 and who most people thought was dead his treatment of alan shearer the humbug away strip. would the previous regime have allowed our players to walk out representing the club looking so ridiculous? trying to rename the ground sportsdirect.com@st james park the god awful branding on the top of the gallowgate end sacking chris hughton when he was doing a brilliant job under difficult circumstances appointing alan pardew, a man that no fan wanted and no other premier league club would touch selling andy carroll on the final day of the transfer window when it was clear we needed to bring a new striker in, not sell our best one. replacing caroll with shefki kuqi. shafting the boys who sit in the singing section in level 7 selling t shirts of sterotypical fat geordies in the club shop. just liek the humbug away kit, i suspect he's laughing at us. not offering improved contracts to the players that stuck with us after relegation and performed well this season not investing any of his cash on players. to date the club has made a net profit of 50m on player sales while ashley hasd been in charge. if he keeps this up we will go down again. wake up toonpack....it clearly isn't just about keegan
-
Howay man, it's about more than his treatment of keegan. Can you not see that or do you need me to make a list of all things he's done to fuck us off?
-
Laughable i think your defence of ashley is laughable. in fact, i'm wondering whether you really are a toon fan or a WUM given i've never met a single supporter that shares your view. we've got the shittest billionaire ever to run a football club.
-
I take your point. I've been away from the area a long time, and I've kept up my support for the club as much as possible, living in Scarborough wasn't too much of a problem. Before that though, I missed more home games than I wanted but made it up with the away games. There was a brief period when I missed quite a lot and couldn't do much about it but also I admit that during the years approx 1978-81 was a period where my enthusiasm drained, not really because it was a bad time, but circumstances and the way I led my life, it wasn't a deliberate boycott but emotionally I was detached because I was away and also the club had seriously pissed me off after losing Gordon Lee, and the fallout of it ie the McGarry years, and the subsequent realisation that the club was utterly shite from top to bottom. I'm back now though, at least for now, if I am back for the whole 3 years, then it is too good a reduction in the price to turn down, and I have a good seat I don't want to lose. Having said that, one of my mates says that there will be plenty of spare seats and so if I give it up and the team picks up or Ashley sells there will be plenty of other good seats, so that made that particular point of view irrelevant, because of course he is right. On the other hand, if I left the area again, I may not really be able to travel all the time, it depends, I would likely be too far away and I'm getting older, and I must admit the prospect of watching the team decline back to the on the field state it was in under the McKeags and Westwoods is something I don't know if I can stomach. So if this happens I will sell my ticket. So I'm buying it and playing everything by ear. If I stay back in the area I will see the 3 years through, whatever happens. Each to their own. Lots of people can't get to games for different genuine reasons, the only thing that pisses me off, is those who were attracted back to the club by the previous regime [there I've said it] who have now either pissed off now they have gone and are criticising them, or have pissed off and won't admit it. I also think those who are backing Mike Ashley quite fervently should be doing their best to back him or shut up. He will need it. I genuinely think the club is in decline, it can't be anything else when the expectations have been lowered, the revenues are diving, our best players see their careers elsewhere and they attempt to lie through their back teeth to us all the time about their intentions, and worst of all, piss off their managers. The one thing you must do is back your manager, he is your most senior employee !!!! Back him or sack him if you lose confidence in him, but you MUST back him as best you can. Not one of the managers appointed by Mike Ashley has been backed and given a fair crack of the whip in line with what should be the expectations of this football club. that's it right there in a nutshell. fuck all the bullshit toonpack is spouting about us being grateful for him balancing the books. he's a billionaire; if he gave a shit about the club he he could have sorted the finances out while giving his manager 20m net or so a season just to make sure we did alright on the pitch.

You have to smile at the Chronicle, like, you really do. Good old Ronnie Gill isn't known for his ability to dig to find a story, even if one is under Ronnies nose with a huge label wrapped around it saying 'I'm a story' on it. He'll be away as he's ambitious and knows we're a selling club. Thompson will have more clue he's going to Liverpool than Ronnie will even if its just Liverpools intentions to buy him, as a decent bid will see him sold because the club will 'reluctantly sell a player who doesn't want to be here'. He's away, but it won't be Mikes fault. Oh aye, it won't be Mike's fault. When will we all just realise what a kind generous benevolent capitalist exploitative greedy cunt we have at the helm? If we didn't have him then the club would be finished and we'd all have to support Sunderland. So tilt your prayer mats toward Burnham tonight, and while your on your knees showing respect, be a sweetie and lube your butthole for Big Mike and Little Lamb's next round of alacritous mendacity.

i say let them all take performsance enhancing drugs. at least then it would be a level playing field and the best fighters would still win
-
Very well summarised and simply put, it sums everything up nicely. Anyone that disagrees with HMHM's sentence is a mug, and I would say it to their faces. agreed. i'm shocked by some of phil and toonpack's comments. i honestly didn't think there were any nufc fans out there that didn't despise the twat that runs the club. some of the anti-keegan sentiment is a bit off too.
-
nowt wrong with arctic monkeys or chase and status
-
a manu v real final would be interesting. mourinho v fergie; both managers going for their third european cup. and rooney man u v barca would probably be the better game for the purists.

agree with holden btw that you can easily spend your time going on missions around the casinos but if you want to get away from the booze and the gambing there are loads of other distractions. a helicopter ride over the grand canyon and hoover dam is pretty amazing, but pricey. there are loads of stag type activities like go karting, firing big guns at a shooting range, quad biking desert dune buggies. we did the shooting last time i was there. it was pretty nuts; got to fire ak47s, shotguns and the dirty harry magnum. it was pretty scary actually - not sure i'd do it again. in terms of casinos, i rate bellagio and venetian as the best. they're always packed; good atmospheres and well located in the centre of the strip.

vegas is ALL about money. money rules there so make sure you bring plenty. and be prepared to go home with not much. as long as you're prepared for that, you will have the best time ever. it's the ultimate 24 hour party city. but very different to the uk. gambling is obviously what you'll be doing most of the time you're there. i stayed in the mgm grand midweek a few years back and there are loads of 5 or 10 dollar stake tables so you can acutally spend a couple of hours there getting pretty pissed and not spending anything if you know how to play blackjack. craps is also a fun, socialble games where the odds are quite good. just remember to tip the waitresses well and they'll keep the free cocktails coming as quickly as you can drink them. if you're playing blackjack, make sure you play by 'the book.' there are a bunch of rules that most players stick to and if you go in there making rookie mistakes, you'll annoy the rest of the table. sticck to the basics and chances are you might break even, or even win a bit if you're smart. i'm not and always end up blowing my winnings and leaving with a deficit. at least you get hammered for free though? are you single? if so, you will have a riot. the girls out there LOVE british accents but they're really superficial; they won't really give a shit if you're not the best looking guy in town as long as you buy them drinks. are you a going with a group of guys? if so, i'd definitely recommend getting a table at one of the super clubs - all the big casinos have them. i was at a stag do last spring and we got a table at tao in the venitian. very cool place but would have been murder without the table. you basically get a private area cordoned off run by some guy called a 'mood manager' who will hand pick the fittest girls from the club to come and chill with you. he actually even offered to send some back because they weren't fit enough - only in vegas. the girls know the score though; the fit ones will come in chalk up a couple of free dinks off you guys and cop off with the single lads in the group. another club well worth checking out is the ghost bar at the palms. there's a glass dancefloor that overhangs 55 floors up with one of the best views of the strip. we had a pretty wild night in there. also, if you're going on a stag, it's well worth going to the bare pool bar in the mirage. you'll lose count of the plastic titties on display. well worth reserving a cabana there on a saturday if you fancy an all day session in the sun.

vegas is my favourite town in the world. been there 5 times in last 4 years. i'll post a a longer reply later with some tips. enjoy!

And whys that? Here's a clue: 5.2 The Club admitted to the Tribunal that it repeatedly and intentionally misled the press, public and the fans of Newcastle United. that's all the ashley apologists need to read tbh
-
no i didn't. find a quote where i criticised you for having ago at ashley or shut the fuck up. what you will find is me giving you grief for your endless praise of shepherd. anyway, i can see where this thread is going so i'm out of here.
-
i know. i haven't allowed myself to get dragged into one of these ding dongs for a while. i think i'll bow out of this thread now.
-
look mate, that just isn't true. i never disagreed with you when you were slagging ashley. it's your incessant praise of shepherd (and the halls) that i find tedious and the fact that it's all you bang on about in every single newcastle thread you post in. yes, there was some exciting times under the previous owners and it was a lot more fun to be a newcastle supporter then than it is now, but shepherd made too many mistakes at the end of his reign for me. i blame his stupid decision making for us not kicking on. if we'd been bought out by a billionaire with some ambition and common sense then it could have been a good thing. when shepherd was bought out i thought it could be a good thing. i thought we were getting an ambitious new billionaire owner. obviously it didn't take long to work out that ashley is a cock smoker. that doesn't change my opinion of shepherd though. you're right that the grass isn't always greener but who'd have thought ashley would have been as bad as he has turned out?
-
what are you on about? where did i say he was wonderful? cretin You didn't, I was paraphrasing "showed ambition, only gave a shit about the club/fans" and the fact you'd have him back, that bit. if you read the rest of the post, i'm hardly saying he was wondefrul am i. just using him as an example of how shite a chairman ashley is.
