  1. Aye. The man himself is playing the City Hall next year, how about me and you hop in my car and go see the master?
  2. You're fooling nobody, LBT. Thick as a brickie's wrist.
  3. Frank Ocean's is mint like. The back half from Pyramids onwards is a superb stretch of music.
  4. Attempting to listen to everything I've missed from this year that has been praised or seems interesting. Got Smashing Pumpkins, And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead and Scott Walker lined up for some easy listening, no doubt.
  5. Think we'll line up as we did on Monday and have a go. Before our spectacular collapse last season, we were the better team by some distance. I'm going for 0-2, one in each half.
  6. Forgot about Laura Marling. And St. Vincent. And The Reigning Sound, The Greenhornes, Spoon, Burial and LCD Soundsystem. Great decade.
  7. Had 6 pints of Taddy's in Tilleys on Saturday and my plan was to stop at that so I wouldn't be rough to set up for a gig in the afternoon. Woke up, immediately sick, thumping headache and stopping every 10 minutes in a car ride to Newton Aycliffe to bring up the water I was using to rehydrate myself. I'm done at 22.
  8. I'll take a boring 1-0 to us. Get in and get out under cover of night.
  9. I draw the line at Bon Jovi. The bloke didn't know who The Replacements were so assumed they were shit, the floppy haired bell end.
  10. I thought I saw your name on a loaf of bread yesterday, Fish but it said "Thick Cut"
  11. You're missing out, man. The 2000s had plenty of amazing music, no matter what you're into.
  12. 3 good songs and completely over-reliant on the keys though I do like Roadhouse Blues. Morrison's lyrics are shit as well.
  13. Smiths and R.E.M. are my two favourites probably. Love Teardrop Explodes' debut too. I'll have a proper think later on but most of the artists I like have been mentioned. Hounds of Love, Rain Dogs and those three great Replacements albums also.
  14. It's a shame ZZ Top are shite. Come at me.
  15. there's a mint little guitar line in there. Anyone know where it's from?
  16. Bloody hell, forgot about The Streets' debut as well. Not listened to The Libertines' debut in years so no idea how it's held up. There's a barely known album called "The Philosophy of Velocity" by a band called Brazil that I love as well.
  17. XCOM is really good but it will have your bollocks for breakfast until you learn it inside out.
  18. Pah, forgot all these as well. The internet has made liking music wonderful.
  19. Use the year-lists at rateyourmusic.com Jogged my memory on of Montreal. From 2004-onwards was when I started properly getting into music I'll like for the rest of my life. Until then, I'd bought albums but not sure what I was thinking looking back. Being able to go to a torrent site and download reams of acclaimed American indie music must seem like cheating to people who had to buy their records every week.
  20. These are the first 10 that come to mind so this is by no ways definitive Elliott Smith: Figure 8 New Pornographers: Twin Cinema Arctic Monkeys: Favourite Worst Nightmare Mars Volta: Deloused Kanye: College Dropout The Shins: Chutes Too Narrow Spoon: Girls Will Tell Wolf Parade: At Mount Zoomer (prefer it to the debut) Arcade Fire: Funeral Sufjan Stevens: Illinois shit, you've also got Maximo Park's debut, the other Wolf Parade album, the other New Pornographers albums, The National, early Ryan Adams, Radiohead, Neko Case, Sleater-Kinney's The Woods, The Decemberists, The Roots, The Black Keys, Fiery Furnaces, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, White Stripes, Madvillain, Outkast, Queens of the Stone Age, Flaming Lips, Pete Molinari, The Johnny Cash American albums and that's just me off the top of my head. The 2000s were brilliant because you had access to pretty much every genre of music you could want at your fingertips. EDIT: Actually, I'd shift at least 5 of those out my top 10. I completely forgot about Hissing Fauna and Satanic Panic in the Attic by of Montreal. The latter is one of my favourite albums ever.
