I bet you wrote to Santa Claus last Christmas, eh CT? Is this really a footy thread btw?

We basically made it economically viable for our relegation rivals to sign him. tbh Barton is a workie ticket and I'm not devastated he's left. And I don't really care who's to blame, it's not as if we didn't know what the parties involved are like (Ashley, Llambias, Barton, McKay, Wormtongue-doo). No, what upsets me is we have weakened our team, strengthened our relegation rivals, not got a fucking penny out of it, and (I'm convinced) there isn't a snowball-up-a-cat's-arse-chance-in-hell of him being replaced by 1 Sept. So we've lost someone at the peak of his powers, PL hardened, who did the business on the field and for what? Because he's a pain in the arse for the owner presumably. This doesn't strike me as a business or football decision, it's personal.

I totally agree

The impression I get is that usually there's just a fax or email with an offer. Presumably if it's accepted there will be negotiations about the finer details - when to pay, sell on clause, add on amounts etc etc - but the proposition is quite straightforward unless a player exchange is involved. Once that's sorted then you have to sort the player's new contract. We don't seem to have got past the stage of making an acceptable offer for our latest targets. If indeed we've made offers at all. Unless, as others have suggested, we're doing it back to front and agreeing the player's contract in principle before their current club has even got wind of our interest?

Assuming we sign Pieters, wouldn't it make more sense to drop Raylor for Pieters and play Jonas on the right and Marveaux on the left?
-
Seems inconceivable that he'd have 2 medicals and not sign for QPR. If he's indulging in brinkmanship he's dangling off the edge by his toes.... No doubt McKay will be badgering him to sign anyway. Apparently stands to make at least 600k from the deal, if not more.....

Jesus wept man! I know his lass, thats just plain wrong! Well that's what JJC claimed many moons ago iirc. I think he also said his lass was ginger and overweight.
-
Haven't seen the details but with the exception of Jonas, Tiote and Barton, it sounds like it was our first team out tonight. Still, we won.

I think a penny is more than he was planning to spend

You have to hope Ba just needs to settle in and has the quality to improve. Best, Lovenkrands and Strola Ameobi we know all about, so no surprises there. You sometimes have to wonder how people at the club don't see it. Does Rapey's heart give a little thrill as he sees the three of them blunder about in training, spooning the ball wide and over the bar? What's the point of Lovenkrands? And how does Strola still not know the offside rule after 12 years of professional football? Hey ho, at least we won...

To be sure At Partizan. Who are now down to 10 men.

Does this go to pens if it's all square after ET?
-
Off topic, Shamrock Rovers are 2-1 up against Partizan Belgrade in extra time!

Was thinking the same that Bassong would be a good signing. I reckon there's 4 million reasons why that won't happen though.

Fuck off tecato. Joining the little bitch fest are you? My mate who is from holland got it wrong. Move on. Kitman...Basically if the agent is to be beleived and a deal is close then surely the club would be trying to get this nailed for the weekend? We'll see. All our transfer activity lately has been fraught with difficulty. The trickiest aspect has actually been agreeing a fee with selling clubs, something we don't seem to have done yet with PSV. I also find it strange we're reported as making a concrete offer for Cissoko if we're serious about this transfer. As ever the tea leaves are hard to read but I'm not taking it as read yet just because the agent is talking it up.
-
Always the cynic ay? I reckon this could get nailed before the Fulham game. It's hard not to be cynical with the current lot in charge. Apparently we're also signing Cissoko and an Italian bloke called Santos. So we'll have 3 left backs plus Perch and Raylor in reserve by the Fulham game What do you base your prediction on out of interest?
-
Technically that's a nightmare
-
Expect Pieters to sign a new contract for PSV on improved money shortly.

Maybe we should all just admit that Leazes was right all along? Then we can get back to bitching about Fat Ash.

I remember that when it was on the telly
-
We'll have offered 3 million euros then

Looks like JB's gone then. And yet that useless lump Smudger Smith still lingers like a boil that can't be shifted. I bet he's earning as much as Joey too. Why can't we sell him to QPR? Because he's a useless old knacker on stellar wages, that's why.
