  1. Guess how much interest I have in this thread
  2. It all had to unravioli at some point.
  3. Although Dalglish bought a lot of players most of them were for peanuts. He also bought some very good players for for next to nothing so overall his buying wasn't bad when you look at it. The injury to Shearer did us in more than anything. I take your point. I was thinking of the likes of Hamilton, Tomasson, Pistone, Andersson, Dabizas and Guivarch though. And I can't recall whether Gavilan was one of his too but there were lots of journeymen. I think the amounts were modest by today's standards but sizeable back then. On the positive side he brought in Shay, Speed, Hamann and Nobby. Overall I think he was pretty gash on trasfers though, I don't think he improved the side. This is also the man who thought a decrepit Ian Rush was good enough to lead our line. That's a bit harsh on Nick the greek. For me, not fighting to hold on to Sir Les was as big a loss as Shearer's injury. Do you think? I always thought he was pretty limited, he was a right sneaky cheat too, usually to cover up his lack of pace or positional play. My abiding memory of him is with both arms in the air in that "what me, ref?" kind of way, usually after a dirty trip. That and his goal against the mackems......
  4. I've never believed we'll sign N'Zogbia. Too expensive for a start, and Whelan hates Ashley doesn't he?
  5. We should be so lucky, lucky, lucky...

  7. Buying average players at inflated fees is what Dalglish did when he was here. He also managed to dismantle a fantastic team in the process.
  8. I expect it's because they've already got enough wannabe gangstars
  9. I love how these things seem to take the club by surprise. Sounds like they've only just got round to applying for the visas....

Having a lead singer who couldn't sing didn't help....
  12. It's naive to think that contract negotiations are a one-way street, where the clubs attempt to call all the shots ie. they insist on trigger clauses, for minimal fees. The same applies to the area of bonus', and a player's image rights. There's no sensible logic in a club chairman drawing up a clause (of his volition, with the financial best interests of the club at the fore) which enables a youngster to leave for bugger-all, after a break-out year, to a bigger club. C'mon it's the agents who insist on these (for minimal fees) as a means of fast-tracking their clients' careers to the higher grades on a club scale, where there is a higher ceiling of earning potential. They push for an increased chance of player movement. Swansea probably had to play ball with the player's agent when they got their man originally, just as clubs have to do in order to retain their best players. This is why there is an arbitration process, to allow clubs the right of appeal when there are instances (in this case a contract, with a clause probably included in accordance to agent demands) that allow for an outgoing fee to not be reflective of a player's rate of progresssion. Nice sig by the way. A personal message would have sufficed, rather resorting to effort of changing profile settings. I take your point but I think Swansea as a much bigger club would've had the whip hand? I agree the clause favours the player but they could've insisted on a higher amount. Surely Swansea aren't the only club with this issue but they seem the only one in bother with it. Not sure what you mean by my sig. Its not aimed at anyone...it was copied from an interchange that made me laugh, can't even remember who now
  13. There's nothing of any note in that article. Basically he doesn't really know what's going on with erdinc or Enrique, and we're looking at other targets. Well twang my thang.
  14. I agree with Phil. If Swansea put the clause in then they should honour it and can't complain about it. A clause allow a player to "talk" makes no sense to me and sounds like justification after the fact. But I'm bored with the saga anyway, I hope we're not talking about Enrique's replacement here.

I bet he hasn't sat down since he came back
  16. Did your dad ask you about that helicopter thing she did? I miss your Filipino tales, funniest thing I'd read in years
  17. After a bit longer on the board rabit71, you'll realise the futility of posting this sort of response.
  18. I think LM has a good point. Whilst no doubt these new players will be good professionals, a club always needs strong characters in the dressing room to rally round, especially when the going gets tough. We may not miss Nolan on the pitch (assuming we replace his goals) but we may miss his influence. If we're on a roll it might not matter. However Pardew's record at West Ham and Southampton suggests that when the chips are down, he doesn't make that a lot of difference. He'd probably be chuntering on in press conferences about how disappointed he is in the players, in that Reginald Prior way of his.
  19. Hard to get excited about Naylor's transfer, just sort it out one way or another ffs
  20. One old guy one cup? This one could go viral
  21. Maybe he's being released because he's shite? Still let's sign him because he's FREE
