  1. Hee hee HF. You must be one of the tiny minority we've heard so much about!
  2. Dalglish would've replaced Zidane with Tim Sherwood by the sounds of it anyway
  3. That article HF posted is the biggest load of ignorant waffle I've read in a long time. Jesus wept indeed.
  4. The thing that made me laugh was the suggestion he wasn't good enough for the first division. Strange as he was pretty good with his head
  5. Football agent Barry Silkman has revealed in an exclusive interview with sport.co.uk that Newcastle United could have signed former World Player of the Year Zinedine Zidane when he was looking to leave Ligue 1 side Bordeaux in 1996...but rejected the opportunity. The legendary French midfielder instead secured a move to Serie A giants Juventus for a fee believed to be £3.2 million; a move that secured his reputation as one of Europe’s greats and led to him making a record-breaking €75 million transfer to Real Madrid in 2001. The news of Zidane’s rejection by Newcastle United adds to the growing list of clubs that turned down the player with former Blackburn Rovers owner Jack Walker supposedly remarking in 1995, "Why do you want to sign Zidane when we have Tim Sherwood?" Newcastle United under Kevin Keegan’s stewardship in the mid nineties saw the club promoted from the old second division to the Premier League and become serious title challengers to Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United. Geordies will no doubt be asking themselves what could have been had the Magpies secured Zidane’s signature in 1996 and had him play alongside the likes of David Ginola, Alan Shearer, Les Ferdinand and Philippe Albert. Speaking to sport.co.uk, agent Silkman reminisced on the deal that never was: “I have missed out on players. I suppose the biggest player I missed out on was Zinedine Zidane. “I offered him to Newcastle at the beginning of the 1996 season for £1.2million. And they watched him and said that he wasn’t good enough to play in the First Division which is the Championship now. “Three months later he went to Juventus for £1.2million and two years later he went for £48million. So I think the people at Newcastle got it slightly wrong.” By the end of his first season with Juventus, Zidane had led the team to victory in the UEFA Cup, the European Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup. He went on to win two consecutive Serie A titles before leading France to World Cup glory on home turf in 1998. Following his move to Real Madrid the talismanic all-rounder added the Primera Division medal to his collection before scoring that volley in the 2002 Champions League final (see picture above) before helping the Bernabeu outfit to World Club Cup glory. Newcastle United have not won major silverware since their 1955 FA Cup win. They currently top the Championship http://www.sport.co.uk/news/Football/35533...ine_Zidane.aspx
  6. There's no way Ashley will replace Hughton until things become desperate.
  7. Away point gained, 9 points clear of Forest with a game in hand. It'll do.
  8. This sort of thing just goads the fans more. He should keep his trap shut.
  9. So the Duke of Westminster is the UK's richest person. Well done sir for being born......we're all very proud of your achievements!
  10. These Yorkshire clubs are usually up for it. Squeaky win 1-0 or 2-1.
  11. Llambias has been busy cutting a few deals with the local business community trying to supplement any cash prize the football league will hand out. Our championship winning superstars could forget all about the hassle of renewing their gym fees when Kicks gym in Wallsend will give them a free years membership! Beavans of Byker will be letting our heroes dine in comfort with a free table and four chairs with complimentary table mats thrown in for our top scorer. But perhaps the most generous offer comes from the Koh Noor Indian restaurant in Newcastle's Bigg Market! Newcastle's top scorer may dine once a week free of charge with his partner* from the end of the season till 30th Dec 2010. *Offer must only include dishes from lunch special menu, and be taken before 15.00. Drinks not included.
  12. Yup. Plus he has the shittest goal celebration in history
  13. Sounds like Scotland is the place to go to offer players low wages. I assume CH will be off to the Outer Hebrides next, with the generous offer of 3 goats, 2 sheep and a chicken for 4 years tucked up his sleeve.
  14. You have to wonder where this shit comes from. I can't believe the club would be stupid enough to leak it, even allowing for Llambias' incompetence. I doubt it's been raised with the squad as a proposition. If there's any truth to it, it's probably Nolan or Smith's agent leaking it to the press, who've made a big deal out of something that probably only applies to one or two players. Sounds like we're still cannon fodder for the press.
  15. Limited edition I suspect......
  16. You forgot Ferguson. I never thought Ferguson was an odious twat. Perhaps he wasn't but he had on and off the field baggage, spent time in the slammer. As I recall, the problem with Ferguson was he was never fit rather than being an odious twat. Maybe the same with Woodgate, who was completeley daft as well?
  17. You forgot Ferguson. I never thought Ferguson was an odious twat. Perhaps he wasn't but he had on and off the field baggage, spent time in the slammer. Hopefully Barton will try to burgle Big Dunc's house
  18. I agree. If we at least replaced Butt with a top quality midfielder and Shola with a top quality striker, I'd be happier. The latest pronouncement from Lame-arse suggested it was an either/or decision between a striker and a midfielder, if Hughton wanted it, and if it was reasonably priced. Which means he thinks the squad is pretty good already so it probably won't happen.
  19. Good. They put us out the Cup in the 80's. Now for Hereford.... One of my life's ambitions is to buy the rights to that fucking goal to ensure it is never seen ever again on TV. BBC love to show that friggin' goal. I had to move to NZ to get away from it
  20. Kitman

    NUST

Anyone not voting for Peter will face a tax investigation. The pants down/marigolds on sort.
