Aye that's exactly my expectation.
-
9 I think.

They basically bought an entirely new team for this season. I fancied them to be relegation fodder but Flores has done fantastically well. But they've hit a wall somewhat since Christmas and I think the talk of a new manager is in the minds of their players which as we've seen with Citeh can be a distraction.

Game of Thrones back on again tonight (or this morning if like me you couldn't wait). I'll not say anything about it for fear of Gemmill's wrath but I enjoyed it more than any season opener for a while. Maybe because I don't know what going to happen any more since GRRM writes more slowly that continents drift.

You'll never walk alone makes my ears bleed these days as does anyone else signing The Blaydon Races and that shite palace sing. The Sissoko song annoys me what with him being a cunt and the song being totally innacurate. I do really like the Benitez song that is being sung currently. I realise we've probably appropriated it from someone else but I still like it. Always enjoy Shola from Fenham shooting them down on derby days and away trips. The fact that he's a cult hero while everyone knows how bad he was appeals to me. No recolection of that Mick Quinn one either.

Despite picking up two very credible draws this week, I think our inability to turn either of them into wins will cost us. If we'd had this earlier it would have been enough but I worry we need more now. Both Everton and Watford are playing very poorly at the moment and both of their managers are being heavily linked with the sack. I fancy the mackems against both of them, especially if they pick up something at Stoke next week. Our biggest hope is that Hughes manages to get a reaction to the them conceding 12 in their last three games and the Stoke of the rest of the season turns up and gives them a twatting. But that could easily go the other way.

I think Rafa's people came to us rather than it being the other way round. I have no doubt in my mind at all that if it had just been down to penfold, there's no way Rafa would be here and we'd probably be relegated already.
-
If Sunderland stay up again they will be in for another season of the same shit they have gone through the last however many years. Except they'll no longer have us throwing points at them so they will probably go down next season. If we stayed up and Rafa left, I think we'd be in for the same. Personally I find that that an offensive prospect. I would rather be in the championship fighting to be the best team than be in the top division accepting being the least worst of the four worst teams in the league. Benitez is lighting the place up and installing something in the players that I thought was years away from returning. A choice top league shite or second league with someone you can believe in running the show is no choice at all. Of course he's much more likely to stay if we aren't relegated so staying up is our best chance of actually seeing the club move forward.

Aye it's as if he wants to prove he can win the league without those sorts of players when all he's actually proving is the exact oposite. There must also be questions asked of their injury problems. Arteta, Rosiky, Wilshire, Walcott, Ramsey and Oxlade-Chamberlin are getting injured every season. They're either soft as shit or doing something wrong in training. -
We got beat 4-1 at Leeds and (I think) Gillespie scored the consolation (we'd been 4-0 down). We were stood right in front of some of their boxes and they'd been banging away on the window everytime they scored. We nearly put the window through when we scored. The pricks inside couldn't understand what we were doing given the score.

I've just watched it again and I can vaguely remember the goal but nothing else. DK says in his interview afterwards that Alan McClouglin said to him half way through the game that he couldn't believe the atmosphere.
-
It's funny that I can never remember that goal. I know I was at the match and Kelly is still my favourite player but I have no memory of it at all.
-
Mira's pen away to Liverpool in my first away game stands out along with that Leicester own goal, O'Brien over the wall, Lee against Chelsea and our equaliser in the seconds 4-3 defeat to Liverpool. What a cunt it was a few minutes later to lose that game. All those were games I was at. For me it's more effecting when you're there but Bellamy in Holland and Cisse's wonder goal against Chelsea aren't too far behind.

Even just the general high of scoring a goal can't be replicated. I went to the England Germany game the other week and while the comeback was great, the feeling didn't come close to comparing the feeling I've had when celebrating any number of Newcastle goals. -
I said to a mate last night that he's not released anything I've been interested in for years. But his eighty's and early ninety's stuff was excellent.

I did think about it but where's the fun in that. Aye you're right of course. I can't understand viewing football that way. Would save a lot of grief no doubt but where would the enjoyment come from? -

I agree with pretty much everything you've said there. Especially about Wenger's arrogance in refusing to change his principles and bring in the type of player everyone can see they need (how many attacking midfielders do they have for fucks sake). What I would add is that us, Everton, Spurs or whoever would react the same way that they do if we'd been right up there for years but had a manager who refused to do what was necessary to get over the final hurdle. Of course it sounds like being spoilt kids to any supporter of a team who's worse off but what's the point in playing the game unless you're trying to comepete at the highest level you can. For Arsenal at this moment in time it should be mounting a credible league challenge every season. But they've not finished in the top two for over ten years (I think). They've always fell away before the end for reasons everyone can see. Their board should have been telling Wenger that he needs to adapt his approach or move on years ago because by allowing him to continue on the same path, they are accepting they will not be able to properly compete for the title. And for a club with their resources, that shouldn't be acceptable. Of course I have no sympathy for them (did you see the prick on Twitter the other week saying he was going to move his support to Citeh because he couldn't stand losing anymore?) and think the double standards in the press is a disgrace. But I can't argue against their point. -
There could be some when the inevitable relegation is confirmed. But Rafa will have seen the fans recaction to him before then and I'm sure he's intelligent enough to know that if he stays, that will be enough to placate most fans so he won't have to experience any significant protests. I'm not confident he will stay if we go down, but I don't think the threat of protests will be a factor in his thinking.
-
The twats of the celebrity world seem to be hanging on longer than those who are loved/well liked.
-
Him staying would stop most if not all of the protests though. Everyone believes he would only stay if he's given promises about control and money. Those are the main problems everyone has with Ashley (other than him generally being a cunt) so if he's doing something to address them, there wouldn't be the need for protest.

Was hoping it was prince Charles. Doubly sad

I don't know any great detail about it but from what I've read it does seem iffy. -

Ched Evans has won his appeal and will get a re trial. -
You wouldn't have tried to take her when she was alive. Not if you'd seen what she had downstairs!

Whilst I agree Sissoko was more up for it and wanted the ball last night, I thought most of his play was poor. He's got a terrible touch most of the time and his effort at goal was pathetic. I'm begining to think that he's just not the player we've always thought he can be. He's got pace but his dribbling is poor, he's weak in the challenge and worse than useless in the air. Even when he's up for it, I just don't think he's close to being as good as what he's made out to be. He's still living off that game against Chelsea.
