  1. Enrique wasn't as bad as a lot of people seem to remember. The second half of the relegation season he was probably our best player (obviously that's not saying a great deal) after Bassong's form dipped. He really hit his stride in the Championship but he wasn't near as bad as Colo was. Not that this detracts from you point which I agree with. The last relegation season was just as devoid of leaders as this.
  2. If you can't find happiness in the misfortune of other there's no point in being alive!
  3. Rafa has come with us looking odds on for relegation. Of course he probably won't stay but none of us thought we could attract someone like him anymore. We will still be able to attract more than you think. I do agree that the problems in the club run far deeper though. We desperately need to get shot of Penfold and get someone in who's capable of leading the club.
  4. Sissoko. He's the only Newcastle player I've ever hated. I can forgive all kinds of incompetence but his lack of effort is a fucking disgrace.
  5. Brightens up my day to think there's poor bastards who have so little to look back on. At least I can remember going to Wembley & The Nou Camp and all those great games under Keegan and Robson. Why anyone would support us if all they know is Souness onwards is well beyond me.
  6. Yeah but all of those players are miles worse than Taylor. He might not be one of our best players and might be up there with the worst who have played over a hundred games for us, but he's nowhere near one of our worst ever.
  7. Of course that could happen. As it could happen to any team who goes down. No one has a god given right to go straight back up.
  8. Aye Fereday was shite. Taylor wouldn't come close to a worst eleven from my lifetime. I admit I can't think of anyone other than Shola and Williamson who are worse but have played close to the amount of games he has. But that's because the real shit ones were so bad even we wouldn't keep them here.
  9. I think that's ridiculous personally. Those other teams problems were financial. We only owe money to Ashley and it's not like we've been surviving off hand outs from him. The only way have a financial meltdown is if demands his loans back. But I can't see any circumstances where that benefits him. Yes it's true we have a lack of leaders out there but we also have better players that most in the championship. I think we're far more likely to come straight back up than freefall through the leagues.
  10. Obertan, Marveaux, Gouffran, Guivach, Dummett, Megson, Riley, Cunningham. There's a ridiculous amount who are far shitter than he is.
  11. Aye of course. Lifes more important.
  12. James Taylor has had to retire due to a serious heart condition. Real shame that, I think he had a lot of potential as a test player for us.
  13. Oh aye it's not a massive amount of games but still a lot more than I would have expected. Still a fair way off Jimmy Lawrence.
  14. Their goal difference is only 7 better than us. If we make up the points on them there's a realistic chance that we'd make up the goal difference too. Of course the problem is that there's not a realistic chance we'll make up the points on them.
  15. Surprised he's made that many given his injuries.
  16. Thought he was excellent when he came back against Stoke. Since then he's been an absolute pile of dogshit. He's always been poor when a forward runs at him but he's actually managing to get worse. Hope he doesn't get a new contract but fully expect that one is already in the pipeline.
  17. You can cite them being pissed off with what is going on around them or whatever but the fact is they are bottling it now when they are needed the most. I expect nothing else from Sissoko until he leaves but there is still hope that Janmaat (assuming he can play with his dammaged hand) and Wijnaldum can get their heads into the game and show what good players they are until the end of the season.
  18. I've only recently felt this way about Gini and Janmaat to be fair and Gini played well earlier in the season. Sissoko has been shite for the last two seasons and you would think there must be a clause in his contract for him to still be getting a game. But I'm assuming it's because the managers have seen what he can do and keep blindly hoping he'll pull it out at some point. Sissoko has contributed roughly the same as disco Des this season like.
  19. It felt dirty last season actually. It would feel even worse this year.
  20. Shelvey has pretty much been as I expected so far. I never rated him and other than the West Ham and West Brom games he's been pretty poor.
  21. Midnight Special. Gripped me from the first scene and kept it up all the way through. Really good.
  22. That's it, they are all fucking hiding now. No one really wants the ball and if they get it they are just looking to offload it as quickly as possible. Bravery in football isn't just about putting your head in where it hurts, it's about risking making a mistake by trying to be positive. The wankers we have just don't want to be seen as the one making a mistake. Not read Touching Distance. Thought it would depress me too much. Might give it a go though.
  23. It wasn't Stapleton who I was speaking to, it was bloke who works for Man Utd who was with him (he was actually a Stockport supporter which was the only reason I bothered to speak to him). He did ask me if I wanted my photo taken with Stapleton but I had no interest in getting a picture with a player who had never played for (even if he was one who quite liked in my early footballing days).
  24. Exactly right. They whole club has been filled for years with gutless cunts who have no ambition to move the club forward and are happy to just pick up their salary without doing anything to earn it. Changing the formation won't change that. That said, I'd love to see Refa put his foot down and kick bottling cunts like Sissoko out of the team for good. I doubt he will because he'll be working on the basis that Sissoko could potentially show his ability and save us. But I'm almost at the point where I'd rather see us go down that be saved by that cunt.
  25. Watson, Clark, Elliott, Howey etc all struggled initially under Ossie. The mistake he made was to bring them all in together. Keegan realised this immediately and brought in the likes of Kilcline and Sheedy. The importance of having experienced players around the youngsters is something that our current regime has completely missed.
